It's one giant trailer park, even the wealthy areas. If you are a hillbilly, Florida is your mecca. Satan's Playground. I am here right now and it feels like a fever dream walking around picturesque 1950s suburbs juxtaposed with boulevards eight lanes wide.

Same reason why people go to Thailand, Aruba or Bali.

Tourists spend their time in hotels and beaches they don't even see the trailer parks.

At least Thailand and Bali have some exotic culture stuff to enjoy. What the frick is there to do in Florida other than getting drunk and going to the beach? You can do that pretty much everywhere else, only in safer places with a much nicer climate.

Maybe on the gulf coast but there are some real shitholes along the eastern coast on account of the poor immigrants from the islands.

Nothing really, just gradual aesthetic changes. 2010-2020 is just a decade marker I’m sure people will use later when they look at these films. I personally like movies that utilize non-professional with professional actors like American Honey; it feels more real. Heaven Knows What is another good one, but that’s more NYC tweaker life. That’s from when the Safdie’s were still doing gritty stuff with low production, before they went over the top in their style with Good Time (still good) and Uncut Gems (weak).

Actual trivia from the IMDb page
    >Willem Dafoe spent a week living in the filming area before production in order to immerse himself in the life of the characters & master the nuances of the regional dialect.

Seems like just enough time for a professional and skilled actor like Dafoe. Anything longer and you're a homosexual method ""actor"".
He just needed to get a sense of the day to day, learn the mundane. In a place like Orlando, one week of mundanity is enough to make you want to have a nice day.

I would normally be interested but this movie is pretty much reddit meets netflix meets globohomosexual feminism. Basically it's feminism the film made to hypnotise the viewer into thinking "white men bad" and "POC women good". There isn't really much more to this dreary thing than that.

      Anonymous

I don't give a shit if you watch it because your post outs you as a mouthbreathing TheQuartering watcher, but there is absolutely nothing feminist or pro Black person in this film. it is extremely based and redpilling on how poors and pavement monkeys act when left to their own devices. the only person in the film who's somewhat sympathetic is Dafoe, a working class white man.

It wasn't very good. I don't know why people are shilling it. Yeah it portrays some white trash but it's very shallow, there's not much going on throughout. It builds up to ||her getting into an argument with her friend and her friend calling CPS, with the rest of the movie from there out being ambiguous as to how it ends. That's it||.

        Anonymous

theres kids running around and playing, but no chaotic shit. its actually pretty peaceful and safe, so much so that they all leave their bikes in one big pile unchained and unsupervised. Then again this is a generally safe area and I cant speak for ghettos and trailer parks.
