Power Rangers was the best tv a kid could ask for, why would someone cringe at watching complete age-appropriate programming? The movie still holds up btw.
>replacement-scenes of the Americans to replace the Japanese originals >everyone kicking around while going "HYUH! HUH! HOO-AH HUH!" >the zoids are even more moronic-looking than a guy in a Godzilla suit.
If you found it entertaining over the age of 5, that's pretty sad.
>replacement-scenes of the Americans to replace the Japanese originals
Anon, it was in fact an original production for America. There's no Japanese version of Mighty Morphin with different actors.
There's a new TMNT x Power Rangers comic where Shredder, the TMNT and April all morph into rangers that's apparently pretty good. The Godzilla one is too but I haven't read them yet
Lost Galaxy was pretty kino, you just have to ignore the completely moronic logistics behind the story.
Time Force is also probably the best season right after In Space. I think it's also one of the only seasons that follows the same story as the Sentai
Anyone ever rewatch the Jap version of the power rangers they grew up with? They're pretty fun. Highlights for me were
>Alien Rangers being actual 90's assed ninja and not alien mermaids >leader of the ninja was a girl so there was an episode where her master faked all the deaths of her friends so she could grow stronger mentally since as a female she was physically weaker but she was their leader >timeforce pink wanted revenge on the alien mafia for killing her parents but a traitorous robot killed them first before she could >the yellow ranger in Japanese lightspeed rescue has a brain tumour that made him lose half of his body's ability to move and he's in constant pain but he still reunited with his friends from the show 20 years later
>green rangers arc and death >white ranger was a literal iid who gave women upskirts
I am no connoisseur of SS but half the appeal of Zyuranger for me is how balls-out and insane it is compared to MMPR. I wonder about other series though so I shall check out Dairanger.
There is something about the way the suits looked on camera in Zyuranger. They never quite looked that shiny again. It triggers my nostalgia to an insane degree to see that specific effect.
Lost Galaxy was okay, not good but alright at best. I remember a lot of friends of mine who were never into Power Rangers became fans of Lightspeed Rescue. Personally In space was way better than both of those shows because it allowed for a wider variety of settings since in space is a broad term. Lost Galaxy had them running around in starship troopers outfits and have different climates in within the space ship and Lightspeed was mostly disaster rescue stuff. But I do remember my friend had a huge crush on the Titanium ranger, that part of the story was pretty decent if you ask me. Everything else didn't matter much.
In Space was legitimately kino, and the perfect send off. I'm in my 30s now, and I still remember it fondly. It had more sticking power than most "real" shows/movies today. Plus I really wanted to frick Astronema. That was the first time I really started to think about what girls smelled like, and I wanted to smell Astronema.
>Greencucks
Red Ranger was our leader and he would make sure to take the Greencuck that thought he was hot shit down a peg every time, he was pretty arrogant but Red was the biggest and toughest kid on the block and he was also a total bro. We also had a new kid join our play group when he Whitecuck got introduced so we made an OC human name for him and the new kid was White while we still had Green in our team but we all still voted for Red to be our leader.
The cringe I remember is wearing an Army of Darkness t shirt that had Ash holding his boomstick in the air a lot and having some art of the Jin Roh Kerberos Panzer Korps inserted into my binder's front sleeve and wondering why the teachers treated me like I was gonna shoot up the school.
I wanted their zord so bad as a kid because I thought the blue lion and GIANT PYRAMID was the coolest shit. Not sure it beat the falconzord and the ninja zord to kid me. I only ever got the zeo shape one though and turbo rescue vehicle
No, because I was equally in to BeetleBorgs so the cringe is always outmatched by pure nostalgia. I felt like a badass trying to imitate all of the flying kicks and superman punches.
I am so, so thankful that I grew up with stuff like Power Rangers instead of the pozzed shit made for kids nowadays. Every cartoon now is full of gays and dykes, it's no wonder all zoomers think they're pansexual or whatever.
Might be because you like watching satisfying smoothness on your morphs. >I think I just prefer it when Power Rangers is more space magic than it is secret government organisations or cops
After two seasons of Space based stuff I liked the idea that Earth had to start making their own power rangers. There were a bunch of old zords lying around Angel Grove at that part to use for reverse engineering. They just took them to the junkyard (seriously its a plotpoint in zeo)
Everyone likes to blame the sentai being a parody for Turbo being bad, but literally all of the problems with Turbo came from American decisions.
The Rangers being baked into a pizza isn't all that bad compared to shit like a child Ranger and wigga Alpha
Yeah the movie fricking rocks. I don't know why, but it's probably the only time the American footage costumes look really good. They normally look so cheap compared to the Japanese footage
The movie just had such a bigger budget they could afford it. The only complaint i have about that movie is the CGI at the end but its old cant complain much
When I think back to Power Rangers I feel grateful for the chance to have a normal and fun childhood where every kid at school loved this campy shit and how I used to watch it with my friends and family. And how much I love and appreciate my parents for buying Megazords. I treasure those times man. I can't imagine being embarrassed.
same, i randomly googled ninja storm a few months back, saw that the red power ranger's actor listed as deceased, got sad, looked up the story... and i was like holy shit. he always seemed like a good dude.
>read all these posts about homies having zords and kino toys >meanwhile I had chink bootleg ranger toys and nothing else >not even the cool ones with accessories but shitty flimsy ones >had to make Zords for them out of legos instead
I cringe when I think that I thought I was 'too mature' to watch Power Rangers. I would have had a much better time if I wouldn't have been such a pretencious poofer and just watched the fun stupid kids shows.
Not at all. In fact, I still watch Kamen Rider today because it gives me the cheesy martial arts and special effects but with a story that's a little more mature that I can enjoy as an adult
I'm watching Kamen Rider Build right now and in the first 2 episodes a guy who was framed for murder broke out of the villain's human experimentation lab. The villain then forced Kamen Rider to kill his girlfriend in front of him. Seems bit more mature
You're right, but watching The Boys and Mandalorian is also pretty childish.
I think Kamen Rider is in the same level as Bay's Transformers, sure you can enjoy it as an adult, just remember it's a giant toy commercial.
>Kamen Rider is adult entertainment
why are kamen ridergays such dumb manbabies? You can't shit on capeshitters when you're "capeshitter but it needs to be japanese".
Kamen Rider are series about motorbike riding, themed super heroes, it started with the original Kamen Rider (1971) and continues with various series.
Kamen Rider series and movies are divided into 3 eras, based on the names of the japanese Emperors that reign during the time of the series, those eras are:
Showa, starting with the original series and ending with the Kamen Rider J movie, I consider this the best era, most of the series are about only 1 Rider fighting an evil organization that's trying to take over the world, usually, this organization also gave the Rider his powers to use him as a weapon.
Heisei era, most series have multiple riders, they're more colorful and make use of more tech than showa riders, those series also use cheap CG along with pratical FX, the stories are more complex.
Reiwa era, the era we are in right now, this era has heavier use of CG and lots of conflict between Riders, expect to see Riders beating on eachother has much as on the monsters.
If you want to start on Kr, watch Kamen Rider Black (1987), it has a nice balance of serious story and cheesiness, while being true to the original series and also being fresh in it's prespective. Or just wait for it's reboot coming later this year to amazon prime, Kamen Rider Black Sun.
The original series had the "assistent girls", they were mostly for kidnapping, it also had henchwomen in the early episodes.
Heisei era series usually have love interests for the riders, sometimes a female villains or even Rider, but like power rangers, it's a dude in the suit.
Reiwa shows have female Riders end in the series running right now, Kamen Rider Revice, there are stuntswomen in the suits, no more lean stuntsmen with fake breasts.
>Leader of the Time Force team is an angry white girl who bosses the protagonist around >No one called it pozzed back then because Jen and Wes were both well written characters who grew over course of the series
We now live in a world where old power rangers has better writing than most Hollywood films and every Netflix original series
I was in the second or third grade when Lord Zedd debuted, and I remember some parents b***hing he was "too scary" or something. Even back then I remember hating those people, and just thinking how much of a little b***h can you be? If I had known back then that people like this would take over the world, I'd have hung myself on the jungle gym.
Never that big into power rangers and I just found out that a lot of it is reused footage from super sentai. I was honestly surprised to find out that Rita Repulsa is played by some jap and someone else voiced over her and that Lord Zedd is a MMPR original character and not reused from super sentai.
watching the twitch marathon with Cinemaphile couple of years back was comfy as frick I'm so glad I was part of it
tfw lost my folder with all the In Space edits and shit
loved power rangers as a kid, but what made me lose my shit was when all the non-team rangers showed up, like that blue ninja dude or the black space one. absolute childhood hype moments
I only have vague memories of Space, but I remember loving it. The most I remember is one of the rangers getting stung by some space bug and turning into a monster, and how abnormally gross and body-horror for a kids show it was. I must have been 11 or so when it aired.
randomly watch some PR to see how bad they fricked up my childhood show
fall in love with Miss Morgan
ends with dinosaurs being brought back to life through Kino time travel shenanigans
Dino Fury is shit, but frick you I actually loved Dino Charge. The right mix of fun, silly and cool.
I felt like a kid again watching it.
So I looked at some of the other series I missed.
Didn't care for Ninja Steel so I droppe dit after a few episodes. Dino Fury is trash, I dropped it when they included a Ok Boomer line (that ddn't even make any sense in context). THAT was cringe. Beast Morphers was alright. I watched it all.
Everyone still is, we just pretend like we're not to look like mature adults.
What's the worst PR btw guys? The new movie? It looked good and all, but it was so fricking boring. The worst sin a PR movie/series can commit.
Power Rangers was prime kino for kids and had something for everyone.
You shouldn’t feel cringe at all man. Tired of seeing people shit on things they liked as a kid for the dumbest reasons. You liked it for a reason and frick what anyone else thinks.
I don't feel at all embarrassed about watching it at 4.
However, I rediscovered it again at 15 after finding all the later seasons on YouTube. For a couple years I was on rangerboard every day and engaging in arguments with autists like "what counts as a sixth ranger?" I am embarrassed at that in retrospect.
And years later, I have rediscovered it again. Watching Sentai and KR while smoking weed is so fun, because I quickly lose track of what's going on, but the predictable structure and jap goofiness makes it very comfy. I can't sit through 5 minutes of power rangers though.
Frick if I remember. There was all this discussion of "sixth ranger vs ranger-like ally". Mainly Magna Defender and the black one from Turbo got argued about.
Funny because I've checked in on that board a few times over the years, and 15 years later it's still the exact same arguments, largely from the exact same mods and users. Absolutely depressing. I remember when they had the first PR convention and I saw what the people from that forum looked like IRL, I think that was a big factor that made me pull the ripcord on that community.
I only ever watched the first show and stopped around the time when Tommy became the White Ranger. Not because I thought it was bad, but just because I found porn.
It was meant for kids and I was 9 when I watched it wtf are you on? The monsters were cool, the fights were so over the top that they were exciting and the robot sequence was always awesome. the only cheesy part that I didn't care about was the american students inserts, but when they got into the costumes and fought then it was awesome. figures those parts would be japanese and the amerimutts had to insert a diverse cast but whatever I was a kid and didn't know.
This. Why should I retroactively cringe that I liked a kid's thing when I was a kid? That's like being embarrassed that you crapped your diaper when you were a baby.
It's a zoomer who enjoys marvel movies even as they reached the technical adult age. It's filled with shame and despair over how much they enjoy children's movies.
How did this character work? From what I read his suit belonged to a separate super sentai season as the MMPR. Wouldn't this mean they wouldn't have a lot of video footage of the six of them together?
Of the scenes of the white ranger with the others are originals in the same way they had to frick around to get the juu rangers into the next seasons mechas.
Basically it was time to sell some new toys and save money on footage. Saban had already paid for 25 extra episodes of Zord fights for MMPR that weren't in the original. Once he got the next season's rights he wanted to use the new zords. Most of the zords were close enough they could just use the same costume. Image related was just too different from green though. That resulted in the green ranger getting a white ranger costume and them just splicing footage and shooting new footage when they needed everyone on screen. For season 3 they got lucky and again everyone's costumes matched so they didn't bother updating the costumes. After season three they finally gave up started using the costumes of the corresponding sentai series.
That makes sense. Splicing footage together and writing your show based on what Japanese footage is available to you seems like a really roundabout way to save money/sell some toys.

He was also short because he was a child in the jap version. The way they fixed it was they just redid all the in-suit fights that he was involved in. The part they couldn't afford to recreate were the zord battles, which is why they switched to the second season zords.
iirc they filmed new footage in america if it involved the white ranger and the rest of the rangers.
if it was just the original five they used new footage filmed in japan (which is named by the fans as Zyu2)
if it was just the white ranger, like him using his megazord, it was jap footage
Cool teenage super heroes doing fun teenager things, and secretly fighting to save the world from an evil space witch? Yeah... why did I ever like that show as a kid?
well, no - because i was maybe 4 years old when i would watch it on tv. i only remember watching it between 4-6. it was the mighty morphin ones that i watched. after that, i didn't see much of it and had moved on to other shows.
I just think it's kinda funny that in some alternate universe Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard are ex-Power Rangers stars that can't get a break in their acting career and JYB is the greatest actor of his time.
Even japanese actor rarely get bing from tokusatsu, and it's way more respected over there.
Hell, the guy who played Kamen Rider 2 ended up homeless for a while, the guy who played Kamen Rider Black had to apologize for asking fans for money over the internet.
And the actor who played Super-1 is a fugitive from justice in japan, he's wanted for scamming almost half a million dollars from female fans.
Is it weird if I don't watch the Super Sentai or Kamen Rider tv shows, but I like watching the team up movies they put out every year? I have no idea who any of the characters are or what's going on with the plot but I still enjoy it anyway.
>Is it weird
not really, since those movies barely have anything to do with any of the characters that show up in them, hell, most of the Heroes that show up don't even speak.
I think my childhood shows were Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force and Ninja Storm. Dino Thunder I was checking out and I didn't like SPD at all so stopped there.
I'm not sure how I have good memories of the orignal series though but nothing from Lost in Space
I never got into Power Rangers. Dad forbade me from watching it, because it was "too violent (despite the fact that he was okay with hitting me, my sister & mother)." After the divorce, I didn't have access to the channels it was on. Then, I did get regular access while I was in Middle School, but I didn't really get into it.
Power Rangers was the best tv a kid could ask for, why would someone cringe at watching complete age-appropriate programming? The movie still holds up btw.
>replacement-scenes of the Americans to replace the Japanese originals

If you found it entertaining over the age of 5, that's pretty sad.

Anon, it was in fact an original production for America. There's no Japanese version of Mighty Morphin with different actors.

God, the movie is so good, and had a b***hin soundtrack. Genuinely a great kids movie. I love Ivan Ooze.
No, it was a fine kids show
Nah it was dope.

POWER'S ON ITS WAY
RANGERS SAVE THE DAY
You forgot the robots!
I stopped watching after In Space. I need someone to confirm for me that it stopped being kino right after anyway
It never hit the kino that the first series had because it wasn't an original production (meaning all the footage was from the Japanese show).
What do you mean? All of them have been more or less produced the same way
the ninja turtles crossover episode was quite a mindfrick for the kid me
There's a new TMNT x Power Rangers comic where Shredder, the TMNT and April all morph into rangers that's apparently pretty good. The Godzilla one is too but I haven't read them yet
The power rangers DC mash up is cool too. Power rangers just kick ass for teamups
It basically ended in space since Zordon died there
>Zordon dies
>Zedd, Rita, and Divatox turn good
>Everyone else just fricking dies
The ending of Space was brutal as frick
The literally had a whole city full of innocents killed
Well know I’m fricking curious.
Lost Galaxy was pretty kino, you just have to ignore the completely moronic logistics behind the story.
Time Force is also probably the best season right after In Space. I think it's also one of the only seasons that follows the same story as the Sentai

Zyuranger blows my mind with every passing episode I watch. Shit is incredible.
I honestly dont like zyuranger. If you remove the nostalgia (almost impossible to do), it's just kind of a weak season.
Dairanger blows it out of the water, but still has the non-cgi charm.
I am no connoisseur of SS but half the appeal of Zyuranger for me is how balls-out and insane it is compared to MMPR. I wonder about other series though so I shall check out Dairanger.
Dairanger is 10/10. It's so good.

Lightspeed had the best uniforms and the best home base. Just saying.
The underwater base was schway as frick, I agree
I like the Lost Galaxy bottle episode which is literally just Aliens. Genuinely pretty scary for a kids show
I vividly remember the episode from In Space where Carlos (black ranger) gets stung by some bug and gets changed into an evil bug creature.
I mean I like spd and mystic force, but I might be in the minority
In Space was legitimately kino, and the perfect send off. I'm in my 30s now, and I still remember it fondly. It had more sticking power than most "real" shows/movies today. Plus I really wanted to frick Astronema. That was the first time I really started to think about what girls smelled like, and I wanted to smell Astronema.
You just brought out a 20 years old memory for me, something about her shooting pool in one of the episodes in some kind of tight clothing
Most of the villainesses in these shows were really hot women.
Astronema... Divatox... Just look at them. Latex gloves and boots. Seeing that as a kid definitely developed a fetish on me.
Divatox was fun because the actress hammed it up for a campy role. Also, y'know...
>I really started to think about what girls smelled like, and I wanted to smell Astronema
Her nudes ruined it, hairy pussy
>hairy pussy
Good
>Astronema had a hairy pussy
Then my dreams were real.
WHERE?
Melody Perkins is still pure.
Age is finally catching up with her, but otherwise she's aged really well. Pic related is from 2015-2016, I think.
Plenty of shows are good afterwards. But your mileage may vary on how soulful it feels.
The best season in the entire show came out in 2009.
>tfw no autistic gf to unleash a humanity destroying computer virus with
You missed the best season: Time Force.
Fun fact: It was the only season to be nominated for an Emmy.
>best season: Time Force.
moronic homosexual
Hi, moronic homosexual. I'm Anon.
That's because it was just a 1:1 off the sentai version
SPD is kino.
RPM took a joke super sentai season and turned it into a post apocalyptic mad max world
well
this is the best scene in all the franchise
I get that Rita and Divatox get spared because they're humanoid villains, but why does Zedd get a free pass?
was an ancient emperor from, literally, space
He was capable of love, and was organic unlike the Machine Empire or Ecliptor.
nah my mum constantly brings it up when she gets nostalgic about me being a kid
Nah, everyone was into it. Like early pokemon.
I was the blue ranger in the playground because he built robots and shit. Greencucks couldn't SIC SEYA my giant new upgraded Megazord.
>Greencucks
Red Ranger was our leader and he would make sure to take the Greencuck that thought he was hot shit down a peg every time, he was pretty arrogant but Red was the biggest and toughest kid on the block and he was also a total bro. I was the blue ranger for Halloween and then the red ranger the next year. I was obsessed
more like because he was fricking GAY
No I cringe when I look back and remember how I used to pretend I didn't like stuff to impress girls.
this was genuinely pure nostalgia kino done the right way
The cringe I remember is wearing an Army of Darkness t shirt that had Ash holding his boomstick in the air a lot and having some art of the Jin Roh Kerberos Panzer Korps inserted into my binder's front sleeve and wondering why the teachers treated me like I was gonna shoot up the school.
Is she one of the rare Yellow Ranger with no nudes out, or did I just never see it?
I never liked Zeo as a kid. The suits and zords looked stupid to me.
That show was a trip. Flabber and the house gang, the black beetle, the kids with the powers.
I grew up thinking that clown with the nose was Robin Williams. Good show
I stopped watching after the second series, after the movie. I have fond memories of my dad bringing me a new monster toy every week
I always thought he was Jay Leno

homie, I was 10. I'm glad the '95 movie came out around that time, shit was great. I have no idea why Tommy is red in that picture or Rocky blue
I always hated Power Rangers and I hated anybody who liked that gay shit.
I was always a Godzillachad.
>Calls Power Rangers gay
>Thinks Godzilla isn't gay
Its the same style of silly bullshit because its all Japanese. We should be allies, not enemies.
How can you be a Godzilla fan and not appreciate the Dragonzord?
Power Rangers paved the way for me to get into Godzilla.
>Tommy in the wrong colours
>no Kimmy
>nignog yellow ranger
>no diamond motif on the suits
the frick is this shit?
It's Zeo
I was TMNT guy. Power homosexuals were always lame. But that make it interesting.
I am so, so thankful that I grew up with stuff like Power Rangers instead of the pozzed shit made for kids nowadays. Every cartoon now is full of gays and dykes, it's no wonder all zoomers think they're pansexual or whatever.
Nah I loved power rangers samurai as a kid, their outfits were so clean.
I skipped zeo and picked up In Space.
Why is the Lightspeed morph so satisfying brehs?
Might be because you like watching satisfying smoothness on your morphs. Personally I like any morph where you truly get a sense of the human character getting into a suit of armor rather than just transforming. I thought the Turbo morph was so cool for bringing the pieces of the helmet around one’s head.

I never cared for Lightspeed that much, and completely tuned out of the show when SPD came out. I think I just prefer it when Power Rangers is more space magic than it is secret government organisations or cops
Mystic Force fan spotted
Actually I fricked hated Mystic Force too. All I can remember from it is that god awful theme song
Hey you.
Frick you.
SPD is when the show started to be made for the new generation in my opinion. Ive never been able to get into a rangers series since SPD
I noticed the shift in Ninja Storm
Nah Ninja Storm, I think it’s because they stopped filming in California and moved to fricking New Zealand.
>I think I just prefer it when Power Rangers is more space magic than it is secret government organisations or cops

not really? i was like 6
the movie was sydney kino
It was so awesome for a kid.
Friendship and easy concepts for a kid to watch.

Hey, sometimes you run into a power rangers actor who actually tries
has she had the best career of any other ranger? the only ones that come close are spd red and jungle fury yellow
What happened to red SPD?
That one guy that does voice acting did pretty good.
Red RPM guy was in Spartacus.
Quantum Ranger still has Vergil
Johnny Yong Bosch still gets roles in every English dub in existence
The RPM cast was overall pretty good. I think the red one and the robot villain girl ended up in actual movies/show after that.
I always thought Dillon was a gigachad when I was a kid and I still do think so
For me, it's dino thunder.
Pure kinography.
Gross
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Best sentai suit ever made. Shoutout to Lucky from Kyuranger for second best.
Not at all. In fact, I still watch Kamen Rider today because it gives me the cheesy martial arts and special effects but with a story that's a little more mature that I can enjoy as an adult
Don't kid yourself, it's just as childish.
I'm watching Kamen Rider Build right now and in the first 2 episodes a guy who was framed for murder broke out of the villain's human experimentation lab. The villain then forced Kamen Rider to kill his girlfriend in front of him. Seems bit more mature
Well it's not.
ok moron
Don't cry, manchild.
You're right, but watching The Boys and Mandalorian is also pretty childish.
I think Kamen Rider is in the same level as Bay's Transformers, sure you can enjoy it as an adult, just remember it's a giant toy commercial.
Kamen Rider is adult entertainment in a world where capeshit movies are popular.
>Kamen Rider is adult entertainment
why are kamen ridergays such dumb manbabies? You can't shit on capeshitters when you're "capeshitter but it needs to be japanese".
Toku predates capeshit. we're the original "capeshitters"
It really does not.
Try reading his whole post before responding.
Tough luck man, Kamen Rider Geats will be about Fortnite or some shit.
Maybe Black Sun will be more mature.
nothing. unlike 99 percent of the rangers actors, he actually had a career in acting
was meant for
with suits this sexy, it could be about gambling for all i care
I didn't like the "suit" in Shin Kamen Rider (1992), But I kinda like those, too bad about the obvious seam in Shadow Moon's right forearm.
suit design has improved a a lot since shin, but thats probably the reason we dont have more organic looking riders
thats gokaiger
>Kamen Rider
sell me on it, which series is the best to start watching?
Dude, I just want to say I respect you for writing all this. You're a real one.
Thanks for the answer. Does KR series have cute girls or is it mostly sausage fest?
The original series had the "assistent girls", they were mostly for kidnapping, it also had henchwomen in the early episodes.
Heisei era series usually have love interests for the riders, sometimes a female villains or even Rider, but like power rangers, it's a dude in the suit.
Reiwa shows have female Riders end in the series running right now, Kamen Rider Revice, there are stuntswomen in the suits, no more lean stuntsmen with fake breasts.
Not really. It just made me into a weeb without me realizing.
The best part about Power rangers is the monster designs. Goldar is one of my favorite looking villains
so many divatox boners
The fact it was so cheesy and over the top made it a good kids show.
>Fighting
>Giant Monsters
>Mechas
>Cool suits
>Cute women
>Cool theme song
Why would I be ashamed of kino?
Time Force was so fricking good. Jen was my childhood waifu.
the villain b***h was hot too. Back when women were allowed to be hot
>Leader of the Time Force team is an angry white girl who bosses the protagonist around
>No one called it pozzed back then because Jen and Wes were both well written characters who grew over course of the series
We now live in a world where old power rangers has better writing than most Hollywood films and every Netflix original series
>shrinks the villain into a toy sized figure
as a kid this was so kino, I wanted in that vault just to play with the villains
>That episode where Eric keeps trying to grease the mutant kid who just wants to go back to jail
>Wes and Eric holding off the mutant army on their own
Genuinely kino
>*has the best character arcs in your path*
Here's the kid I was telling you about
No, I cringe from how into Halo I was and still am
For me it's Red vs Blue
fren moment
>It's a best girl dies episode
As a kid I wanted Kimberly to sit on my face before I even knew what that was, but deep down in my heart I wanted Catherine/Kendrix as my wife.
>I wanted Kimberly to sit on my face
>Actress gets cancer
>Kill her off in the show
>Shows her ghost and everything
That was...pretty fricking dark. She came back but still.
He deserved better
I was in the second or third grade when Lord Zedd debuted, and I remember some parents b***hing he was "too scary" or something. Even back then I remember hating those people, and just thinking how much of a little b***h can you be? If I had known back then that people like this would take over the world, I'd have hung myself on the jungle gym.
Zedd did creep me out a little, Mostly the idea of the pain having exposed musle and brain would cause. Nothing to shit your pants over though
Tha giant bug from Lost Galaxy was much worse
>lost galaxy
Nobody was watching by then
I thought he looked badass.
Never that big into power rangers and I just found out that a lot of it is reused footage from super sentai. I was honestly surprised to find out that Rita Repulsa is played by some jap and someone else voiced over her and that Lord Zedd is a MMPR original character and not reused from super sentai.
watching the twitch marathon with Cinemaphile couple of years back was comfy as frick I'm so glad I was part of it
tfw lost my folder with all the In Space edits and shit
loved power rangers as a kid, but what made me lose my shit was when all the non-team rangers showed up, like that blue ninja dude or the black space one. absolute childhood hype moments
not really
I was 3 when it started, so I was right in the demographic
lost interest part way through zeo
I only have vague memories of Space, but I remember loving it. The most I remember is one of the rangers getting stung by some space bug and turning into a monster, and how abnormally gross and body-horror for a kids show it was. I must have been 11 or so when it aired.
Metal Slug's art is insane.
kino
in space pink is a firefighter now or something
Cerina Vincent might have been the hottest ranger of all. Remember her in Not Another Teen Movie? She was so hot.
Who the frick are these homosexuals, OP? Where is Tommy? Where is Kim? What have you done?
anon... look closely at that picture
If your picture does not have these people in it, then your picture is not of the Power Rangers.
Anon... look real close at OPs picture
He's not wearing the correct color.
*folds arms smugly*
Well one of those homosexuals is there.
Thank God I’m a Turbo (post-Tommy) In Spacechad
The show stopped being good when it revolves around Tommy, Tommygay
I loved Power Rangers. Although it’s hard to go back after seeing Zyuranger.
The one where they're space pirates and they can use all past costumes from previous sentai shows?
Um no I still play the MMPR theme song today. That riff is fricking sick.
It's based on "Electric Eye" by Judas Priest by the way.
No Amy no watch
She’s in her 40s now and still looks good. My waifu choice was a good one
51
Are you really impressed by this average white woman?
Know your place subhuman
Your rage is unexpected, but amusing.
She must have been extremely sweaty after gymnastics practice
randomly watch some PR to see how bad they fricked up my childhood show
fall in love with Miss Morgan
ends with dinosaurs being brought back to life through Kino time travel shenanigans
I watched it all.
im still into power rangers
Everyone still is, we just pretend like we're not to look like mature adults.
What's the worst PR btw guys? The new movie? It looked good and all, but it was so fricking boring. The worst sin a PR movie/series can commit.
No. I'm into Super Sentai now.
I'm still into PGSM. I don't care what people think, that show is like crack and I'm a proud addict that rewatch it at least once every two years.
For me it's Venjix
I watched every power rangers series during a marathon 5 years ago and it was kino
For me it was
>WILD FORCE POWER RANGERS
>WE'LL STAB OUR ROOMATES FOREVER
No, I still watch toku.
why the frick would I it was kino kids entertainment
I can't sit through 5 minutes of power rangers though.
>arguments with autists like "what counts as a sixth ranger?"
Now that I think about it, what does count as a sixth ranger?
Frick if I remember. There was all this discussion of "sixth ranger vs ranger-like ally". Mainly Magna Defender and the black one from Turbo got argued about.
Funny because I've checked in on that board a few times over the years, and 15 years later it's still the exact same arguments, largely from the exact same mods and users. Absolutely depressing. I remember when they had the first PR convention and I saw what the people from that forum looked like IRL, I think that was a big factor that made me pull the ripcord on that community.
I'm similar. I can watch the Japanese stuff but I cannot go back to the American productions.
What's funny is that the jap acting/writing is probably just as bad as the American, but we can't tell since we don't speak the language.
Some KR acting is so bad that it transcends, though.
I theorized as much. I mean, it's already clearly cheesy.
Power Rangers are still fricking cool you fricking homosexual.
I only ever watched the first show and stopped around the time when Tommy became the White Ranger. Not because I thought it was bad, but just because I found porn.
>scams the federal government power!
When he comes in they mostly start filming original footage of the rangers and just use zord footage and shots of the monsters from the Sentai.
That makes sense. Splicing footage together and writing your show based on what Japanese footage is available to you seems like a really roundabout way to save money/sell some toys.
There's still some tokusatsu films I enjoy
Cool teenage super heroes doing fun teenager things, and secretly fighting to save the world from an evil space witch? Yeah... why did I ever like that show as a kid?
No wasnt that much into it .but still well writting from season 1 to in space.
Even as a kid I thought it was cringe.
How is the current sentai?
Incredibly good.
Donbrothers is unironically the best toku of the last five years or so. Might be of the last decade, even.
No, I was a kid. I cringe when I think about the fact that I still watch Super Sentai now, but Donbrothers is A+.
well, no - because i was maybe 4 years old when i would watch it on tv. i only remember watching it between 4-6. it was the mighty morphin ones that i watched. after that, i didn't see much of it and had moved on to other shows.
Holy shit, a toku thread on Cinemaphile? Exceedingly rare, but welcome.
>*stabs you*
What was his problem?
I thought it was proven it was self-defense?
Now ASJ's legal problems, now that's more interesting
Gridman, baby dan dan baby dan dan
Of all the actors that played Power Rangers characters you'd think one or two of them would have made it big in Hollywood.
"I was in Power Rangers" is a recipe for you not be taken seriously.
The closest I can think of is JYB's success as one of the top anime voice actors. But I guess that doesn't say much in the mainstream hollywood.
After a point they started filming in new zealand so that wasn't going to happen.
I cringe about watching Captain Planet because now I know climate change is fake and gay.
For me, its Astronema
evil Kimberly made my peepee hard
>used
PR is certified Chad kino. Still a rangerchad.
You don't need to know shit to enjoy tokusatsu.
Who else is a Super Inframan chad here?
I'm more of a Space Sherrif guy.
I really like modern Ultraman, it's just so self-aware
I remember watching this at like 7 and being obsessed with those milkers. Damn.
She awoke something inside of me.
I miss it bros.
Frick, Cinemaphile marathons PR was such fricking kino.
No, because I was 5
I think my childhood shows were Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force and Ninja Storm. Dino Thunder I was checking out and I didn't like SPD at all so stopped there.
I'm not sure how I have good memories of the orignal series though but nothing from Lost in Space
I was out as soon as I saw the yellow ranger had a dick. Not my kink.
I wish I did grow up on Power Rangers, though.
I had my first sexual experience with my friend's Red Ranger doll. Both it and the show were kino.
