Doing this and also going ahead with Reeves films is just bizarre.
Damien requires a lot of backstory concerning Ra's and Talia. That needs its own film which this would continue on from down the line. Not doing that and skipping ahead to start at this in media res requires either a lot of exposition or expecting the audience to already know. Very bad storytelling.
And someone at Warners seems to have a thing for 'old Batman' - this, bringing back Keaton, Batfleck.
I assume they look at the response to DKR and say "oh okay people want that" but they misunderstand its context as the end of the Silver Age.
Wait you mean they're going to do a Robin? And it's not Dick? Or Jason? Or Tim? What the frick that's stupid. So stupid. They're probably doing it to jumpstart a younger more diverse Justpiss League.
Yes they're adapting Morrisons 'Batman and Son' which introduced Damian Wayne, Batmans unknown son with Talia that she conceived without his knowledge or consent. Between his personality of being a violent psychopath and the batfamily being increasingly crowded he's been a bit of a divisive character.
Also the kids go in Teen Titans, which has always been diverse.
>Between his personality of being a violent psychopath and the batfamily being increasingly crowded he's been a bit of a divisive character.
Yeah, no, I know Damien. Don't need a foreword on him but I appreciate it. Part of what really kills Damien for me is his voice in the animated films. They use the same fricking kid with the same low-T high voice and it sucks dick. That's not a character I want to watch or root for. His being a violent psychopath was already taken by Jason. Tim is the best detective of the three Robins and Dick is the best all-rounder. Three Robins with different facets of Batman. Three Musketeers with Batgirl being the fourth. Damien is alright in the brother-hood synergy sense but god damn I never took to him personally even when he performs heroics with his father's creed in mind. The whole "He'll be the Batman of the future and totally still kill people" kind flies in the face of someone like Jason who murders criminals but doesn't do it in Gotham.
Actually its onlysl superficially similar to Hood.
Hood's whole thing is that he was raised in a desperate environment, which made him kind of crazy in a non-self-preserving kind of way (i.e. trying to steal the rims is a pretty moronic move). He's only driven to be so uncompromising because (primarily) of the anger he feels towards Bruce for not reaching him)
It's moreso a response to the environment that makes sense given his story
Damian'a whole thing is that he never really had an option, and was indoctrinated since birth. I do think it's silly to make him his son, considering that Terry Mcguiness was basically already a second iteration of Batman, so the whole "legacy" aspect has been done already especially because Bruce gave him some guidance.
It would have been better if Damian was just some kid that Batman came into raising, with no real attachment, and had to deal with him being a psycho assassin.
His voice IS annoying as shit though, more annoying than Grayson constantly getting jobbed in all his appearances that I can remember.
I mean... him getting literally killed by Damian in that one movie I'm forgetting the name of where he comes back as a ghost is absolute fricking dogshit
I mean "just some kid" meaning he was still groomed from birth to take Ra's place, but not have him be the son of Talia and Bruce
Zatana is fricking hot
I didn't say not include them, all you really need is some exposition in the intro, plenty already know about Ra's and focusing on the big bro and enemy is much more important
Expecting people to know dick Grayson is nightwimg there's possibly 3/2 other robims that are not here and now I have a rape baby kid with the leaderbof assasins normies have no idea off. Also we're using the absolute worst robin.
It would be cool if they did dick greyson batman. It was a good dynamic between the 2. The plot could be finding what happened to bruce wayne since he went missing
Batman movie written by James Gunn? No faith whatsoever. I expect a lot of deconstructions about Batman being a bad father, a rich c**t, and a toxic male, and lots of father issues moments because that's all Gunn knows to write about.
It's a shame because Bruce and Damians relationship can be extremely kino if done right. I'd recommend any anons interested pick up Batman and Robin: Born to Kill. Easily the best father/son story those two will ever get.
Naw. Say what you want about Morrison but, Robin being Batman's ninja bastard child is good stuff. At this point though any Robin is a welcome addition to a film.

Your moronic nobody frickin like edgy kid homosexual, it should have been a movie about Robin becoming Nightwing frick the ninja rape baby edgy cussing 12 year old killer, should be locked in Arkham. Damien would be a way better villian.
No, I fricking hate Damien.
I hate mist Robins. Not everything has to be a fricking legacy character.
Just let Robin be Dick Grayson and then invent something new you fricking queers
>skipping all of the best stories so you can go straight to the worst character
Why?
>1. First film, lofi and gritty, Batman vs Gothams mob and corrupt cops and crooked city council. No third act monster, no race to save the city. >2. A gothic horror Batman film with either Manbat or the Mad Monk as the villain, in true noir tradition Batman is falsely accused of the murders they're committing. >3. ??? >4. A proper Ra's film, immortal, lazaraus pits, relationship with Talia, etc >5 and 6. ??? >7. Picking up from the earlier Ra's film, Batman and Son.
in DC? frick no.
I have some hope for Creature Commandos. Ever since Doom Patrol got a show i wanted someone to do S.H.A.D.E. Instead of the whole organization they are only doing CC. Sucks but i have hope...not faith
>hey james gunn how are you gonna save DC?
im gonna make a buncha asynchronous garbage that i wanna make so my wife can have a job and i can rip off suicide squad repetedly. >HELL YEAH 10 YEARS OF GLORY INCOMING
Dead Company.
Morrison's Batman Epic was kind of difficult to get into. The Dick and Damian as the new Batman and Robin was the highlight of the run, but Morrison only wrote them for 16 issues. It was kind of a small part of his long run and the rest of really trying to get into all this weird history of Batman.
Morrison gets stuck with inconsistent artwork. He needs an artist that can render the psychedelic concepts. With a shit artist you cant tell whats going on
How hard is it for them to figure out Dick as Robin is the best cash cow they could ever have? Its pretty much like Spider-man and Iron Man but ten times better because it is not forced from nowhere and Dick actually has a lot in common with Bruce. There is this whole drama about Dick losing his parents like Bruce did and the ramifications. Frick, they just need to cast someone carismatic like Holland
>No Dick >No Jason >No Tim Drake
I’d be fine with all this if these characters got to that level of spider man/batman status, i.e they’re known well enough that we don’t need to see their backstories. However is James Gunn gonna skip out on them? It’d be dumb if he did. Or do they already exist? If that’s the case then that’ll just be borderline confusing to general audiences since this will be the first time in over decades that they’ve seen a robin and will have no clue Batman has had other ones.
they fricking did this with BvS
and they were trying again with bringing Keaton back but that seems to have gone kaput because of how often they change management and desperately cling to one frantic idea after another
As much as I enjoy Grant Morrisons insane shit I don't see how it works for normies. All Star Superman sure, but his Batman stuff is already in the weeds in Batman lore and has weird Grant Morrison shit on top of that. Also I haven't payed attention to comics for 10 years now and I'm guessing he's gone full on gay mode. Has he trooned out?
there are just too many people, editorial interference (losing Casandra, Stephanie dying then being retconned, and then immediately after that New 52 retcons Barbara) and some of the motivations are dubious like there has never really been a solid explanation for why Barbara does it except just because.
(I always that there was a missed opportunity in Year One if the baby kidnapped had been a 5 to 10 year old Barbara that would give her some trauma and a connection, but I think when that was written she was still Gordans niece)
Faith is the antidote to fear. And Batman isn't scared of fricking anything.
Bats.
Not anymore. He embraced his greatest fear
Doing this and also going ahead with Reeves films is just bizarre.

Not really, just a good nightwing and some slight build up with deathstroke
>oh btw here's your son with the daughter of the arch enemy both of whom we've never seen
I didn't say not include them, all you really need is some exposition in the intro, plenty already know about Ra's and focusing on the big bro and enemy is much more important

this is dumb, its like an anime with an AU story
Expecting people to know dick Grayson is nightwimg there's possibly 3/2 other robims that are not here and now I have a rape baby kid with the leaderbof assasins normies have no idea off. Also we're using the absolute worst robin.
Bro this movie will be garbage
DC is run by idiots that want a quick cash
It would be cool if they did dick greyson batman. It was a good dynamic between the 2. The plot could be finding what happened to bruce wayne since he went missing
how do you do that in a film starting from scratch this isn't an animie au

Just watch the dcamu
That movie isn't good though. Court of owls is decent and Born to Kill is amazing. Combined it's just meh.
Damien is just meh.

Absolutely none.

>Batman fights the DC equivalent of the Spider Network
who are you quoting?
Why is Robin killing Batman?
Why dont they want to invest in character development and story progression to instead skip to some dopey high concept idea
>1. First film, lofi and gritty, Batman vs Gothams mob and corrupt cops and crooked city council. No third act monster, no race to save the city.

wut
all the bat family shit is so incredibly gay. cant ever be taken seriously

Morrison's run was my end of the Batman saga
Robin the rape baby
I don't know how they gonna get to worse robin by skipping best robin. Last thing they need is an exposure fest like Eternals to explain everything
