He was a good character up until the 2000s and had interesting storylines like the Long Halloween or TDKR, however i believe the characterb is well past his prime, is there anything to write or say about Batman which wasn't done before?

Every superhero is past their prime and should retire.
True, but he was originally a pretty interesting concept even amongst other superheroes,
Batman should go back to an episodic character.
>he was good up until the 2000s
Sigh. It's painfully obvious you get your opinions from YouTube and don't read comics.
I only read the supposed good ones tho, i tried to get into the court of Owls but i stopped after page 30.
I think he needs to have his own One More Day type storyline. I'm not sure what could be erased as Nightwing and Damian sell to well to be gotten rid of but something needs to be changed.
Just kill off Bruce for good and have Dick and Damien back to being Batman and Robin. Make it poetic by having Bruce die in crime Alley the same way as his parents.
The issue with that is the ship has sort of sailed for Dick as Batman. What made it work well in post crisis is that it gave a sort of finality to Dick's subtle decades long character arc. Growing from an agnsty young man with daddy issues. To a more mature adult who was ready to not make the same mistakes Bruce did with him. I think Damian despite his age would be a better candidate for the new Batman at this point.
Man it's so great that the brooding creature of the night (possible madman) has like a dozen candidates to take over his mantle. (this is sarcasm btw)
Imagine how good Batman comics could be right now if they weren't moronic and kept New 52 separate from mainline. Dick in could've been Batman for like a decade while a new Bruce was doing more noir driven solo adventures.
>New 52
Court of Owls was originally designed as a Dickbats story until it was changed into a Bruce one. Hence why the plot was ruined.
>Imagine how good Batman comics could be right now if they weren't moronic and kept New 52 separate from mainline.
They'd be even worse than they are now.
>Dick in could've been Batman for like a decade
Impossible, even Morrison wanted Dick to become Nightwing again.
He wanted him to go on adventures with Damian for longer. His plans got fricked when they brought Bruce back.
He works better in streetlevel/city wide threats.
>Joker about to blow up Gotham River Bridge
Good
>Joker infecting Batman with Joker gas and destroying universes
moronic
>Joker about to blow up Gotham River Bridge
>Good
Nah, it's boring af and clicheed so many times in movies, cartoons, comics etc
>Joker infecting Batman with Joker gas and destroying universes
>moronic
Yep, and that's exactly why it works great in Batman comics. I like Frank Miller's and Jeph Loeb's Batman comics(with the exception of Batman: Hush), but this gritty dirty street fighting in neo-noir Gotham can't work 100% of the time. Exploring new genres and settings is necessary. Batman fighting the Joker/Riddler/Mad Hatter who swallowed some magic pill and became world-eaters = good. Batman fighting them after they rob some bank at night = booooooooooring and unoriginal.
All classic superhero characters are long past their prime. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, you name them. People don't want to read the same old stories retold 1000 times.
Yes, the last interesting thing he did was die. Absolutely should have moved the mythos forward with Dick and Damian. Feature Bruce in stuff like Waid's World's Finest, or tell old tales in Detective etc.
Yep, he went from my favorite to a shit character. Honestly I don’t care about him anymore, he’s boring.
>had interesting storylines
Part of me thinks the issue is:
>collected editions became popular
>those seminal Batman stories also had recency bias
>those became evergreen books
>Year One, Loeb/Sale books, TDKR etc
>basically everyone who dips their toe into Batman books read these and not much else
>so the conversation stays about them
So of course the past will look better because the majority of people who have "read Batman" have read those and only those. Not to say they aren't good, but people have bias against older stories and most people don't follow comics in general.
Watch Killing Joke and Sausage Party back-to-back, now THAT is how you SHOULD watch it.
For me, the whole batfamily, Bat Inc, Bat World, Batman who sharts in other umiverses killed it for me.
Nightwing is barely tolerable, all those other Clowns are dead weicht and always whine and complain until bruce gets cucked.
