Marketer thread. I prefer Hollywood to die and everyone in the film industry to be unemployed.
Does getting an anon on Cinemaphile to give me a qrd count as "streaming"? Because I prefer that.
At least one week.
Yes because they're a convenient place to take a date where I don't have to talk to them but I still get laid.
It's the slop effect.
>sure I prefer to watch movies in a theater... but streaming at home is easier
>sure I enjoy playing games more than watching streamers play them... but playing games takes too much brainpower
>sure I'd prefer to write it myself and prefer to read things written by humans... but ChatGPT is so easy and the Google AI summary is the first search result

I'd say I also prefer the theater, and by that I mean I want to go back to my teenage years and see quality kinos with my family or friends
Theaters have a certain sentimental value but if I ask myself whether I'd rather drive 20 kilometers to buy an overpriced ticket to see a movie in an inferior dubbed version in a room full of noisy strangers while eating overpriced popcorn or just watch it in original language back home on my couch... well, I'm almost always gonna choose the latter.
I'm not saying I want movie theaters to go out of business but there isn't much reason for them to exist besides tradition.
Just sneak food in. That's what everyone else does.
Theaters should be able to make attractive prices for their corn and corn syrups and then play whatever their local market wants to watch.
>$1 corn
>$1 corn drink
>$8 ticket to the movie you like
there's a theater local to me that is basically just a restaurant with massive comfy seats and a giant screen.
The food prices are actually reasonable, and the food is pretty good compared to other restaurants in the area.
If you're going to spend 25$ on a burger and fries + soda, might as well eat it while watching kino.
>If you're going to spend 25$ on a burger and fries + soda, might as well eat it while watching kino.
Do Americans really? Why not eat before or after and savor the movie and the meal more?
Only so much time between working 12-16 hour shifts and getting some sleep in everyday.
>Theaters should be able to make attractive prices for their corn and corn syrups and then play whatever their local market wants to watch
the problem is the theaters still have to pay the studios and distributors to show the films, it's why they have to charge so much for concessions in the first place. maybe the studios won't take as much at first, but if screening older movies catches on and becomes popular you can bet your ass they'll start charging the same 50% they do for new movies (or 70% in the case of disney).
>or 70% in the case of disney
They were pushing for 85% for TLJ, and trying to force theaters to keep it in their biggest houses for something like six weeks straight. They are fricking insane sometimes.
I wonder how many theaters straight up lost money on TLJ.
I guess Disney owns a shitload of IPs so telling them to frick themselves isn't an option.
Some probably did, though Disney backed down on the 85% share, can't remember if they still enforced the largest house requirement, but the movie was in theaters for 4 months.
Hey isn't it weird they never made a dub for minus 1
>Paying money to be surrounded by disgusting fatties for 3 hours
>I can pause and get up to piss/smoke whenever I want
Frick theaters
If it's something good I would go to the theater but I dont regularly because there weren't any good movies out.
I actually like going to theater because it feels more like an experience. I don't know how to describe it. A shame that popcorn and a drink costs as much as a ticket, however
Is torrenting streaming?
If the theater were cheaper with cheap snacks and no shitty commercials before the movie then it would be the best experience, but all the shitting in the ice cream they do ruins it for me, so piracy at home is king.
>stream (aka pirate)
>instant. No waiting around
>no dumb ass previews
>my comfy couch
>eatan snacks
>drinkin drinks
>pause to go pee
>theater
>have to drive there
>have to show up early so you don't accidentally miss the first 5 minutes
>most theaters have lame uncomfy seats
>sit through previews
>shaniqua behind you making all sorts of noise
>food is so outrageously expensive
>can't pause to go piss
>somehow the "big screen" is shittier quality than the 6 year old used 4k tv i have
>have to drive home
a 2 hour movie turns into a 4 hour, 60$ ordeal.
It's getting to the point where if you want "the theater experience" you can just get a projector that can project 4K image quality around 300 or so inches and surround sound system.
>Not masking the black bars on teh top and bottom of the image.
>Projetor bulbs dim as frick.
>Not turning the lights all the way down.
bulbs dim as frick.
What theater are you watching in? I can assure you, modern projector bulbs are bright as frick.
Maybe if they had whites only showings I would be interested in going to the theater again.
>Where would you prefer to watch a movie that you are interested in seeing?
>that you are interested in seeing
People stream stuff to have background noise or because they've got someone over and need something to put on so they aren't both sitting in silence because the art of actually having a conversation is lost on most people.
People are inconsiderate and c**ts. Without them I would go to the theater all the time. But with them? No.
for some reason my coworker loves movie theater popcorn and literally goes there just for a bag of it. i think he's autistic or something because i literally told him you can get the same at home or even at target for 1/4th the price, but he insists it's not the same.

I like going to the movies and sliding a couple quesadillas in a sealed bag so I have something good. A bean burrito as well so that I smell good throughout the film.
I don't get how anyone would still rather go to the theater these days when huge 4k TV sets have become so cheap.
>no unruly kids or Black folk
>no overpriced snacks
>can stop the movie when you like it (bathroom breaks, refills, etc)
>can rewind it if you miss something
>more comfortable seats
Surround-sound systems and blackout curtains are cheap as hell too.
I have basically a home theater in my basement. That's not a flex, that's me showing how low the bar is now for accessing quality film viewing experiences. It's also where I sleep and sometimes eat. It's great.
Very few movies are worth seeing in a theater considering ticket prices and the declining quality of movies and theaters. Unironically, the sound system of the theater I worked at 20 years ago sounds worse now than it used to just due to poor maintenance. The seats are all larger and recline but years after they upgraded those most of them have worn out cushions already and aren't very comfortable. The screen is still considerably larger than my TV but the viewing angle is comparable from the good seats so where's the benefit?
I pirate the highest quality and use Infuse to watch it on my tv.
Frick paying $20 to see a movie in a theater full of racists and phone users. And frick paying $20 to “rent” a movie
I like seeing movies in the theatre but I fricking despise the theatre experience.
