The same people who thought Dane Cook was funny
Except, at the time, dane cook WAS funny. This guy isnt even funny in his "prime"
dane cook's observational humor coupled with his zany energy was far more entertaining than "i did a fat guy dad thing and my kids were sarcastic about it" from a disgusting blob
also i was in high school during his peak, kinda look like him, and his rise to popularity had girls show interest in me
agree with
dane cook's standup wasn't that bad. i think it was mostly a meme that he wasn't funny that everyone latched on to. he wasn't like a naturally funny guy though. like he wouldn't survive in today's world where standups have to appear on every podcast out there and constantly drop zingers for tiktok clips.
I saw Cook live in his prime. He was decent, fantastic compared to this clown.
Loudly hating Dane Cook is like hating Nickelback or pineapple on pizza, it’s less of a real preference than a way for redditors to find each other in the wild.
lol, that's a perfect analogy. It's a mating call to sneak past the initial barricades of socializing, which is normally handled by having a personality, but having a personality isn't always on the table.
My buddy loved him and would always have one of his specials playing in his car when we drove somewhere. I found Dane Cook obnoxious and only mildly funny but when I learned that he came up in the same scene in Boston as Louis CK, Patrice O'Neal, and Bill Burr, it made me look at him differently and I don't mind that he found a way to be extremely successful.
>he came up in the same scene in Boston as Louis CK, Patrice O'Neal, and Bill Burr, it made me look at him differently and I don't mind that he found a way to be extremely successful.
he got famous from myspace. i think that's why most comics at the time resented him or didn't see him as legitimate. social media was in its infancy and dane cooks team worked the shit out of it. dude was decently funny but it was definitely all myspace that catapulted him to the top.
>people defend pineapple on pizza and conflate that with reddit somehow
have a nice day
Go back.
that's what I thought Black person
I can see how dane cook got popular but bert isnt even remotely funny hes just a fat guy with no shirt
I too saw that new video about him
50 year old upper middle class boat dads who are being cheated on by their bimbo wife with her tennis instructor but it's ok because he's paying for the apartment of a girl his son's age.
Alex Jones
I truly do not understand how he's so popular.
mandela effect/CERN/whatever brought him from another universe
>he's been around and doing this schtick for like a decade and a half
bullshit, i am TERMINALLY ONLINE and this fricker exploded into my field of view one day and hasn't left for long ever since.
Netflix added something like 8 of his routines two weeks after i was made aware of his existence. feels completely artificial to me.
Most comedians languish on the comedy club circuit for years before they get a segment on any tv show. Then they'll be a d lister for a few more years before somebody throws them a bone and gives them a special/TV show. Most 40 year old comedians you've heard of have been doing it since their 20s just scraping by.
he just reminds people of their fat, alcoholic uncle
Joe Rogan does, and that's all he needs.
>Joe Rogan does, and that's all he needs.
i'm somewhat of a joe rogan fan because of all the things he has been able to accomplish in his life. dude fricking hosted tv shows, was an actor, hosts the #1 podcast in the world, does ufc commentary, etc. but the one thing he cares about most is standup comedy and he is horrible at it. joe rogan is painfully unfunny.
Larry the cable guy made millions of dollars. There are tens of millions of americans willing to part with their money if you'd just lighten up and realize how easily entertained they are.
wtf when did Alex Jones become a comedian?
no. no comedians are actually funny
Agreed.
Saw his most viral bit about some made up Russian story. Couldn't even crack a smile.
Don't want to say it's hacky because it's hard to write original acts these days but it was hacky and unfunny. I guess people clap when he goes shirtless
Its been corroborated by a good chunk of people who were on that trip. Doubt its fake. I never found the bit to be funny either.. but Rogan made him tell it a billion times and people eat it up for some reason.
I like Bert on podcasts but not so much his comedy routines.
>I never found the bit to be funny either.. but Rogan made him tell it a billion times and people eat it up for some reason.
it's an amusing story for how crazy it is but there's definitely no parts of the story that actually make me laugh. the parts that are supposed to be jokes are just lame. it's good storytelling though.
My thoughts exactly. Fun ride but i don't fall off my chair laughing at any part of it. I'm kind of amazed thats what propelled him into the mainstream.
hes not funny but honestly most standup isnt anyway so what does it matter
This, standup is a gay medium and always has been.
Glad this fat homosexuals movie failed, he is terminally annoying. It took me years to stomp this dude out of my recommendations.
I fricking hate this guy. I don't personally know anyone that thinks he is funny.
his standup is atrocious and unwatchable but sometimes I can tolerate his podcast.
Rogansphere
Joe Rogan's friends and their consequences have been a disaster for the comedy scene.
joey diaz, tom segura, ari shaffir.....like the only thing that can possibly be propping up their "careers" is rogan.
>the comedy scene
CAHLMADY B
no way
Jesus
JUST
Majority of people especially Americans are ultimately stupid an simple minded. This is suprising why ?
>ESLjeet calling literally anyone else stupid
I'm French

when i was a kid i looked up to standup comedians because they seemed to have a unique perspective. now if i ever even turn on a standup special i can't last more than five minutes because it's all regurgitated bullshit everyone in the audience agrees with. shit like "omg i was in starbucks and the barista was low-key homophobic omg wtf."
Rogansphere in terms of standup ability:
Mark Normand
Theo Von
POWER GAP
Ari Shaffir
Joey Diaz
Tom Segura
Joe Rogan
Bert Kreischer
Theo Von and Tom Segura always crack me up, the rest of them are trash though
where does Andrew Schultz sit?
Well, if he (pardon me if I got his pronouns wrong) is a comedian in the era of WOKE; he probably sucks ass.
Reddit gold for you kind stranger, my uncle talks just like this at Thanksgiving!
>lol look i'm a fat frick
doesn't really work when 90% of the country is just as fat
Every video he's in on YouTube people just post about how much they hate Bert in the comments. Maybe his friends pay actors to go to his shows and laugh at his jokes.
He travelled around to middle of nowhere shitholes to perform. The moment a C-list celebrity shows up to those places people flock to it because there's literally nothing else to do
>He travelled around to middle of nowhere shitholes to perform. The moment a C-list celebrity shows up to those places people flock to it because there's literally nothing else to do
not a bad strategy
I like his idea for a podcast where he cooks while they talk but I don't like hearing him talk
I don't know who any of these homosexuals are or who funds their cirvke of near identical podcasts
I don't, but to be fair standup comedians in general are not my thing. Still, having such a simple gimmick of "Look everyone, I'm a fat moron!" seems a bit played to death.
in fairness it will be quite funny when he drops dead on stage, shirtless and beet fricking red from the alcoholism. I just hope someones filming on their phone when it happens.
I have no idea who that is and I'm better off for it.
His first two specials were funny his last few he’s been phoning it in. Ran the Machine bit to the ground
> Everyone look at me I'm a fat alcoholic comedian!!!
He is overcompensating, like all fat alcoholic "comedians". He is deeply depressed and desperately tries to cover it up with booze and immature behavior. He is basically a 40-something year old man with the emotional coping skills of a 14 year old boy.
His friends are only his friends because they are his friends. They are not really his friends.
I don't get how this guy got famous I can't stand watching his stand up he's not even close to funny he's just annoying to watch
