He is only reason I find this movie bearable. The story is absolute trash but there's enough of the director's trademark weirdness that I can't completely hate it, Dominique Pinon is always fun to watch.
Whether you like what was done with Aliens or Alien 3 or not, you can't argue that Ripley was poorly written in either. She's overpowered physically in both movies, saved by men in both, and yet is a strong character and well written female.
Joss Whedon proves in A4 that the only way he can write strong women are as superheroes. Ripley acquires super powers and joins the one-dimensional ranks of Buffy, Black Widow, River Tam, etc.
I like the story about them kidnapping criminals to hatch aliens in a lab, seems very cruel and what they would do, but it's also new in the franchise (in the movies at least, i know there's a ton of comics about aliens so i don't know).
And i also love the scene where Ripley sees all the failed clones

Oh yeah. This movie was so forgettable I had blacked it out totally. I knew there was Hellboy, Sigoruney, Winona in this one but nothing else.
