It's so damn silly for them to change the story to make it so all the big magic users have fought and defeated Sauron recently. There'd be zero reason why Gandalf wouldn't also know about these incidents and be very brushed up on ring lore. He'd certainly be on the lookout for Sauron's influence in other places like Rohan and Gondor, which he visited after Bilbo's birthday And could have brought Frodo with him at that time .

She didn’t move on Sauron until Gandalf told her it was Sauron after he investigates wtf happened in the hobbit. They thought it was the witchking or similar evil man until then. Saruman was feeding them bullshit on how the ring lore worked up until then as he was trying to make his own ring and or find the ring.

I think the key point of understanding LOTR and the answer to all
      >why didn't <powerful being X> just didn't <Y> Sauron/the ring?
questions is in the last part of the books when hobbits return home that wasn't in the movies.

The Divine plan was to teach the peoples that are going to live after the 3d age that they can fight evil and not succumb to it.

The original draft had Glorifindel instead of Legolas, but Tolkien thought he was too powerful so cut him out and powered up Aragorn from a simple man to who he was. He also gave a in universe justification that Glorifindel was to powerful in the unseen realm and all his actions shown like a spotlight to Sauron.

He was on the council at Rivendell. Rangz fricks up the timeline so much I don’t know where he should be then but he reincarnated and headed west around the time the wizards did and was fighting the witchking in the north trying to save Arnor for most of that age in what he is mentioned

Writing a poem is not the heavy lifting, unless he cast some kind of spell on the witchking cursing him which lead do Eowyn KOing him with one attack.

I think it’s more implied he sees a bit of Eru’s plan and knows neither he or the prince will be the one to do it. He is trying to warn the prince to not keep chasing after revenge. The Prince ignore him and ends up tortured to death by the witchking.

Isn't it strange that Elrond can remain the same and true after all that time but 4/5 of the Wizards lose their way? Why didn't Eru make the wizards from Elves instead?

Elrond isn’t really and elf. They consider him an “elf friend ”. He is an immortal man through luthien’s line.

Just saying, if the mission of finding and destroying the ring is so important that you introduce five magical immortals to Middle Earth to help search for and find it, why leave them vulnerable to the fallibility of human brains and 'old age'?

Tolkien softened on the blue wizards as he aged saying they didn’t win but they went down fighting and created religious beliefs to fight Morgoth’s cult.

She becomes a dark lord, slays Sauron and enslaves all sentient life to tell her how beautiful and great she is till the end of time. She literally says what she wants to do with the ring in the movie. She isn’t a good person, just a great one.

Yeah but she returned to middle earth because she thought god was a pussy and not going after the devil enough and wanted to carve out a kingdom so that the world fed her ego with praise and hero worship. It took her like a 10k years to learn the lesson that is bad.

All these are powerful enough people they could take the ring for themselves and become the next Sauron. In the hands of hobbits the ring makes you invisible because hiding is what hobbits are naturally talented at. The ring adds to your existing power

Wrong. It made Isildur invisible as well. It just moves you to the spirit realm, the same as the Ringwraith's rings.

The entirety of LotR lore gets very silly when you realize that almost all these important elf lords and valar and maiar and ishtari and even Morgoth used to hang out in Valinor together and party and take the same pottery classes.

Basically when Gandalf talks about Sauron he talks about his former roommate buddy from college days.
