By then he doesn't need it. NTA, but he just likes fricking with those hole people and using them for occasional hamster power. He probably has to release pressure or some shit. He's not taking in those fricking mutants. I bet its in his best interest to waste some water so they can keep producing kids. I'm sure if they have a semi mutant, fhey can trade it to be a war boy. I was waiting for him to rape Furiosa, but all he did was act like a big moron autism kid with her. His bedroom is full of dolls ans he's obsessed with having a pure baby bro. People really fanaticism about him raping her and got mad from that..? Weird thoughts, bro.

You watch this, and you question what her actual beef with Joe was besides a giant "woman moment".

I don't think he ever pegged her as the escapee, nor care. Is weird she went girl power, when she left them, anyway. She must have got chummy with them or the baby farm three strikes shit over the years.

Yeah. I think Fury Road worked better without this prequel where Immortan seems to be take her seriously and treat her pretty fairly as a subordinate.

there was no villain from the perspective of the main character.
immortan joe was a peace keeper during the battles, he wanted to give her a life of luxury by bringing her into his clan. his warrior civilization allowed her to rise in the ranks through meritocracy. his lackeys were creating civilization.

dementus protected her from his raving gang of psychopaths. prevented her from being used as a rape toy, and dead within 2 years. he seemingly gave up trying to interrogate her about the whereabouts of her utopian village immediately. he taught her skills and allowed her to socialize with his other trusted sidekicks. even saved her ass from the rabble trying to rip the convoy apart during the riot in gastown, though he didnt know she was a passenger on the rig that was in danger.

its hilarious how there was no real villain. still enjoyed the movie though, the ending "vengeance torture" was very shallow feeling and over-drawn length wise because of dementus not being bad at all.

for me the ending was actually pretty hazy. it's hard to tell where the line between reality and revenge fantasy start to blur. what could have happened is he died from that seizure and she only imagined the conversation where he recognizes her afterwards as a way to cope, because she's obsessed with him and he probably forgot about her a long time ago. it would completely deny her any satisfaction so she chose the most horrible way for him to go. even disregarding that headcanon his fate still feels ambiguous.

The framing device of the film is that this is a story we are being told by a History Man, and parts of it might be incorrect or embellished. The whole turning Dementus into a tree thing is metaphorical, it shows that she got her vengeance but at the same time she’s going to try to find some good in the world and not let her anger and pain turn her into a terminal psychotic like everyone around her.

I had that thought too and I want to believe it's the truth because it makes him more competent as an act 2 villain and his decline in act 3 where he's a desert hobo making every dumb decision possible more striking.

          Anonymous

I don't think he faked it but he did use it to his advantage in another one of his tactless war plans. It fits will with his impulsiveness and contrasts with that scene of the Bullet Farm workers chanting Joe's name to Ole Ole Ole when the War Rig delivery comes.

            Anonymous

He had all the workers down hiding in the pit/mine, I believe. Why he wouldn't allow them to do their chants and just have a lot of collateral damage baffles me. Maybe their knowledge was too much to go to waste, or just the work force in general.

Yeah. A guy that just couldn't handle peace and boredom. Like that Taliban guy complaining about being an office worker vs how fun it was to be a jihadi.

            [...]
I thought it was a setup, since he has basically no problem rallying a warhost of hundreds of bikers afterwards, and as we saw with the trojan horse, he has no problems killing people on his side to sell a scheme.

No, the scene where the dogs are chilling by the painting the mayor of Gastown made earlier, they're eating human bones. It's during the gastown riot when the history man looks down from the penthouse.

Yeah there’s actually a lot less MEN BAD in this one than in Fury Road. Dementus and Immortan Joe are given a lot more character depth and while they aren’t good people, they have redeeming qualities and you can see how the Wasteland twisted them into what they are.

The people o was woth said somebody mounting a horse looked crazy fake. I missed that. The dogs jumping down and chasing Furiosas BF looked fake af to all of us. Like Resident Evil original levels of bad cgi. Was weird.

the only part that looked especially bad was the van going off the cliff at bullet farm. Dementus ramming the gate was too funny to fault

That’s what I thought. But he did kill her mom after his gang kidnapped furiosa, so I get the grievance there. But I liked their relationship and thought they were strong together. Dementus saw furiosa as his daughter

Her seeing her mother get killed comes with the biggest plot hole of the movie
If Dementus wanted to find the green place he could have just tortured Furiosa until her mom gave up the location. She obviously would have

It doesn't really matter. Could say she held out for a good while and they went too far and killed her before getting anything useful. Either way Dementus forgets about the Green Place when he hears about the Citadel.

I've always thought Rover was pretty much like a pre-Mad Max 1 film. Excellent. Although Pattinson is arguably the weakest part in it, still he did okay.
Fury Road and Furiosia are 100% aussie to boot too btw.

The Max in Furiosa wasn't even Hardy, it was the guy who was his stunt double in Fury Road. Makes me wonder if they're going to cut him loose between that and the stories of him being unprofessional and having an embarrassing feud with Theron during shooting.

He was the only memorable thing in the movie and mostly because he was hamming it up and chewing scenery in every shot he was in.

Furiosa was a non-character. No screen presence, no character, no lines, nothing. Absolutely abysmal character and performance altogether.

Trying to attack the Citadel with brute force from the low ground was wrong.

Taking over gastown without an administration plan or protecting the technical experts who actually ran production was wrong

Launching a last-ditch offensive against bullet-town and the citadel was wrong.

Letting personal grievances against furiosa get in the way of his war strategy was wrong.

It took 10 years to get this when Fury Road did decently. I think George Miller might be dead, even under circumstances where Furiosa was a big hit.

They had to do a lot of the filming for Fury Road in Africa because Australia went completely green and rainy due to global warming, a lot of the Furiosa sets could have already been used for The Wasteland, they seem to have been pretty extensive and built in Australia, close to the studio's.

I thought he was ok, he seemed to be pretty cool in that movie. but the hispanic woman hijacking the entire franchise was kinda cringe, to be honest. she was pretty much a mute, totally silent the entire movie. (not saying that I wanted her to talk a lot though. whatever)
