this is just a wild guess from spending a couple nights outside but sometimes when its cold and all you have are layers you can find yourself making a sort of tent by your keeping your arms in your coat and not your sleeves and lowering your trousers slightly like that, hard to describe but it just works especially on a bench. i may be talking out of my ass in this instance, however

      >Three Uzbek climbers were approaching.
      >"Will you help us?" I asked. "This woman is dying. We might be able to carry her down. Would you help?"
      >The leader of the three looked down at me reluctantly. "We tried to help yesterday. We left her with oxygen. She is too far gone to help."
She lived for a full day and op no one helped, lol

yeah i know pol zoomers never let the truth get in the way of an unfunny meme but here's the story according to every single one of the 10,000 podcasts, doc's and youtube videos done on this event
      >decent american climber named francys gets to the summit of everest
      >morons will claim this is EZPZ but she did it without supplemental oxygen which changes everything...
      >where a lot of the time you're waiting in a queue behind people who are using bottled oxygen
      >she's descending which is inherently more dangerous than the ascent
      >starts to get fricked up and disoriented

      >they show a ton of fricking courage and compassion by trying to get her down

      >uzbek team acted heroically but they get tired using the wrong method
      >they figure her team/someone else must be coming behind (they can see climbers descending)
      >leave her assuming she'll be saved
that's when the disgusting fricking trash known as south africans enter the mix. so far we've got an american and uzbeks acting like normal human beings
      >cathy o'dowd (notorious sociopathic b***h) comes across francys

They leave their bodies there as a warning and to gatekeep their gay little sport. It’s why nobody sails around the world and every narcissist homosexual tries to climb Everest. The boat gays have a sense of community and want everyone to accomplish their goals whereas the Everest gays gatekeep so it makes them look like super badass.

At the end of the day it’s a fricking mountain. Humans could build a domed walkway up to it if they wanted and it would be perfectly safe. They don’t do that though because they would rather gatekeep their gay little sport.

LOL climbers are such c**ts. I'd rather see a movie about climbers shafting each other to get to the top in ever more ghastly ways.

    >We stood to throw away an entire expedition: the money, the time, the thousands of vertical feet of physical and mental effort. We had sponsors who expected us to go for the summit. We had personal ambitions that pointed in the same direction. We were only 240 vertical metres from the top, only four or five hours in climbing time. We were so close to fulfilling everything we had set out to do.

    >Should we throw it all away for some rescue attempt that was doomed?

      >WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE SPONSORS

You are such a gay. Literally the next paragraph:

      >Should we throw it all away for some rescue attempt that was doomed? The body was lying in a ghastly inverted V. It looked as if the climber's spine might be broken. If they couldn't walk they were probably condemned. Why waste time, stand around getting cold and demoralised, when the attempt was futile? Why not just turn away and climb on? This all ran through my head in the space of a few seconds. But all the debates, the issues, the logical analysis were useless. I simply could not do it. I could not put the summit of a mountain ahead of a human life. I would not want to live with myself if I could. However hopeless this person's situation might be, I had to try. I walked back to Ian, who was standing with Jangbu, watching Lhakpa climbing the First Step.

      >"That body's alive. I'm going to have a look." It took him a moment to understand what I was talking about. "We can't just leave," I insisted.

I agree that climbing everest is too comercialized now but it's still the highest mountain in the world.

Evola says: “It is possible that the ancients, who ignored mountain climbing or only knew some rudimentary techniques (and therefore knew the mountain as an inaccessible and inviolable entity), were consequently lead to experience it as a symbol and as a transcendent spirituality. Considering that today the mountain has been physically conquered and that there are few peaks that man has not yet reached, it is important to keep the conquest from being debased and from losing its higher meaning. Thus, it is necessary that the younger generation gradually come to appreciate action at the level of ritual and that they slowly succeed in finding again a transcendent reference point. It is through this reference point that the feats of audacity, risk, and conquest as well as the disciplines of the body, the senses, and the will that are practiced in the immovable, great, and symbolic mountain peaks, lead men to the realization that all in man is beyond himself. In this way these feats will be justified in the context of the spiritual revolutionary movement that is currently emerging among our people.”

Saying that, people who climb everest are still braver than you, since I doubt you have ever done something as dangerous as it.

I think a prevailing theme in this thread is that it kind of gives away who these people signing up for it are

basically confirmed 0 reason to give a shit about morons trying to climb mountains to impress other people. There is nothing less impressive than a soulless monster who would favor stroking their ego over trying to save another person's life.

Even if she couldn't with certainty, trying to save another human life should take precedence over a vanity climb

due to the circumstances of how much preparing they've done and money spent on the trip, free time they have available, them becoming too exhausted to try again for a bit and the uncertainty of the weather, saving some dumbass more than likely would've ruined their entire trip at the minimum, but more importantly put their own lives in danger.
Climbing mountains like that are serious shit, it's not for amateurs, and people are supposed to climb them with the knowledge that beyond a certain height, if they find themselves in trouble, they are unlikely to receive help, and they shouldn't expect it.

I'm white and European. You accomplish nothing by climbing a shitty mountain. You are not conquering it, you aren't the first to make it to the top, at least dozens of people have been there before you, the view isn't much different than any other mountain. Go to the amazonas if you want discover places no white man has ever been, good luck surviving it tho lol

If you do not have the drive to climb the highest peaks you can see, then you might be spiritually broken.
It's not about being the first, it's about YOU being able to do it. Why do you do anything in your life, to be the first? Unlikely.

according to mountaineering podcasts, Denali (Alaska) is the most difficult mountain.

It's fricking freezing and it's nowhere near as assisted as Everest.
Everest's reputation as Numero Uno makes it far more user friendly.

Denali is a bastard though, despite being 3rd biggest on earth.

this is why they leave the bodies. for every day they could spend hauling some dumb dead tourist off the summit they could be herding several dozen more paying tourists up the mountain for selfies and coffee at the top.

Can't they just cut up the bodies and have each of those tourists take down a body part? They could think of it as taking care of the environment and keeping the mountain clean

When it comes to nature, no. Traveling through the Sahara? Why? There is nothing to discover anymore. It's not the 1800s anymore. That's why i mentioned the Amazonas. Thats pretty much the last place on earth where you can discover something new. But i ain't dying for that.
And I don't need to prove anything to myself, i could just train and practice if i wanted to climb a mountain and most likely i could do it.
