>he has to "like" the characters in order to enjoy a film
Feminine thinking.

feminine thinking
>i only enjoy it if the characters are "likeable"
feminine thinking
why didnt he save the pleading guy? he couldve been his adventure buddy
No room in this world to save anyone
i mean the guy that got stomped
Second dude with the Kubelwagen was great. He just wanted to drive, man..
Might have even accomplished his mission, we don't know.
No work since 2021.
Good, he should retire.
I was prepared to watch kino, turned it off 20 minutes in.
You didn't watch this sober, did you?
I don't drink. I got to the point where the MC gets dissected, and then turned off after that. Maybe it was more than 30 minutes in, I don't know, but I felt no desire to keep on watching.
mad god was great. fricking have a nice day moronic homosexual.
The movie had characters? I turned it off after 30 minutes or so.
Yeah there was
>dude in suit
>dude in suit 2
>monkey
>screaming mouth thing
>that one fuzz dude different from the other fuzz dudes
>Jew
Very diverse, rich cast
Never heard of it but just put it on to see what it is and its just some guy coming down in a ship for like going on 10 minutes now. Wtf is this boring ass nonsense? Whats the plot / story?
>desperately want to talk about Mad God
>make a thread pretending you didnt love it
Just talk to us OP. Its ok, I loved it too. How about that scene with the second map falling apart.
Great stuff
I thought it was neat but the fact it took 30 years makes it seem like it was a huge waste of time.
i feel like that's marketing. it's like the equivalent of making an empty text file and then 30 years later writing a story on it, then saying the story took 30 years to write.
This movie is like delirum tremens in movie form. Holy fricking shit. lol wtf
you lacked the prerequisite knowledge and or appreciation for the mythological and shamanic themes bursting from every minute of the movie
and then you assumed wrongly that you were entitled to the same format of film you've been fed like oats to cattle all your life and gave up when the format turned out to be a free form set of complicated ideas and visual art with a somewhat coherent protagonist or goal that is more of an exploration of live-action blending techniques and expressions of deliberate human motion in the gas mask character, which acts as a human element for the audience to experience the film through.
glad to see it flopped for normies and virgins on Cinemaphile though, we need more actual cult classics and hidden gems to gatekeep down the road when the normies "discover" this collectively all over social media or YT and write 4 hour video essays on it.

> movie is about how the filmmaking industry took advantage of me waa waa waa
Phil tippet is a pussy.
Blow it out your ass. Film lacked structure and story. You can't just have an assembly line of weird imagery without purpose. Put it in an art exhibit instead. Its not a movie.
yes you can and yes it is
this. film was kino that filters plebs and pseuds in the first half hour, and this is a good thing
>shamanic themes
Could you imagine watching this on a perfect therauptic dose of shrooms? My god it would be horrible experience.
Was it meant to have a story and clear characters? I took it as an experimental mood piece and it was enjoyable (but a bit long) as that.
Right? Seconded.
>oh nooo! Why does my experimental horror movie showing off random stop motion scenes not have a plot as clear as The Avengers!!!!!?????
The first half hour is a perfect short film. The middle portion with the dissection is fine, the ending is not great.
Stop motion will die for good with Wallace and Gromit.
Literally filtered, back to capeshit for you
I think Mad God would have been better if the first guy succeeded in his mission and kept half the stuff that the second guy saw and apply it to the first guy. Considering the two characters are identical iirc, you could probably somewhat easily edit it that way to be about 45 minutes to an hour long.
>dream project of multiple years
>it's decent and leaves you interested to see where the next one goes
how did one japanese guy do what a MASTER OF SPECIAL EFFECTS couldn't?
Because it has the best characters of all time
Genuinely Junkhead is a fricking great movie
The guy who made this literally ended up in a mental hospital because of the stress of working on this project
The end product was really not worth it, if you ask me.
The first half hour was good, the rest was kinda eh. It felt like several short movies mashed together, that half-tries to turn them all into one coherent movie even though it doesn't really work. The last part in particular was just a huge rehash of the beginning for no good reason
>It felt like several short movies mashed together
it literally was
>plotgays filtered yet again
film is not a narrative medium
XDDDD
>Movie begins with a fully articulated character and interesting camera angles, lots of artistry on display with a vivid setting
>Middle immediately nosedives and becomes rougher and more basic
>Introduces live action
>Character goes from walking to just driving
>Comes back around with the alchemist and it's master
Feels like he had two great bits, then no patience or budget for something to bridge them together.
>brief glimpse of hitler, putin and orange man having sex
this really said a lot about society
>dream project of multiple decades
This is the main reason why it didn't work, it was like an aspiring artist mashing together all of his drawings together and telling you, ''here, make some sense of all of this''.
Instead, a competent editor should have reworked the whole thing as a compilation of shortfilms/anthologies, add some adr lines, reshoots, cgi and give them a payoff to each of them, starting with the first one, which was the best and more linear one, the one with masketta guy descending into that spider nest, ending it by blowing it up with the bomb
>coherent story and likeable characters is the only thing to be gained from a movie
Do your reps
Mad God is the best film of the 2020s. An actual modern masterpiece.
It's just too much to take in on the first time through and anyone with a "I should be able to make an infographic of the plot to post to reddit" personality won't like it.
>Mad God is the best film of the 2020s. An actual modern masterpiece.
>unlikable characters
This movie didn't even have characters.
I went in blind and loved this kino, immediately got it on bluray.
It's what happens when a special fx guy makes a movie by himself and doesn't hire a writer or editor.
Stop motion wackyness alone cannot carry a feature film. Maybe a 4 minute music video but not a fricking 90 minute long slog.
idk i really liked it.
It's entertaining. Did you expect a pixar movie or something?
>It's entertaining
haha no
I wish this came out when I was a teenager abusing cough syrup man that would've been something
I saw it in theaters, there were 2 other people there and 1 walked out lol.
Reminder that he got scooped by some random Korean amateur working solo in a garage. (JUNK HEAD)
How embarrassing
>Korean
Japanese, actually.
Even better
For a dream project by a stop-motion master, I felt that there were too many non-stop-motion scenes in this movie.
I appreciate a guy going on a road trip in a Kübelwagen.
This movie looks like a music video for a heavy metal band, without the heavy metal music.
>decades long passion project animation
mogged
One of my favourites. Just the idea of God and Lucifer yelling at each other in Hungarian is so hillarious to me.
The intro title crawl got me so pumped up, then the baby mouth dictator scene happened and it pissed me off, then the elderly israelite live action scene happened and i skipped it. I liked the alchemist guy doing his lil magic. Anything with baby sounds was extremely annoying to watch, and anything live action was really cheap looking especially when the stop motion was decent.
Mad God sucks, Phil Tippit is a HACK.
His skillset is highly overblown. I hate cgi for cgi-sake but i cant pretend this stop motion is groundbreaking when Aardman have more fluidity and believability with their stop motion chickens.
>must have likable characters and a story that's spoon fed to you
this board has gone to shit
>this board has gone to shit
this film and pretentious pseud visitors like you are pure baaaasedeeee gargling plebbit c**tery
only shitty part was the ending montage LeWar is inevitable and LeBad
Its a great watch once that you accept that you are not watching a conventional story arc. The visuals alone make it interesting
yep, that's why I recommend a second watch. you're not trying to track the plot and can just enjoy how much is in every scene.
That's what I did but on my 2nd watch I skipped some of the baby talk/whining and surgery scenes. I just kept thinking though, and I know there's not really a plot, what the hell went down in that world and was always intrigued that someone or something in the world built everything at some point for a purpose. Just gets my noggin joggin
many such cases.
Good beginning and ending, the middle not so much
It's a display of a guy's skills as a VFX artist, not a traditional movie
Right, that's the problem, it's a demo reel pretending to be a feature film
frick off man, that's not a problem. leave it be for this one film
>this thread
It reminded me of the thief and the cobbler in how it showed that you can have one autistic animator toiling for decades to create amazingly good animation, but without a good story the movie will still suck.
You literally could have rearranged the scenes from this movie into any order and it would have been exactly the same. I will say though that the scene with the mountain of suitcase bombs was pure kino.
>You literally could have rearranged the scenes from this movie into any order and it would have been exactly the same.
Special effects, including stop-motion animation, are important to movies, but people can't enjoy just the special effects for two hours.
>unlikeable characters
why is every pleb thinking that a movie is bad if you don't like the characters
