DS9 is a 10/10 series compared to everything that came after it, but firstly, that's not saying all that much, and secondly, it's also responsible for (perhaps ununintentionally) laying the groundwork for almost every single bad trait that would go on to define Trek, like
    >serialised storytelling
    >grimdark tone and visual aesthetics
    >too much focus on war and violence
    >obnoxiously on-the-nose political allegories

TNG played up on nostalgia a few times too, with cameos from Bones, Spock and Scotty.

TNG had recurring characters too though. Sela, Tomalak, Gowron, Kurn, and that one guy, what's his name, oh yeah, fricking Q. You can say DS9 perfected it but they didn't invent it.

All of those are nitpicks, not problems. The real problem with the nuTrek is that structurally and tonally it doesn't match the series at all, it's made by people who don't get Star Trek. DS9 is 100% unabashed Star Trek, not a single one of those takes away from it.

Enterprise was the first Trek that didn't feel liek Star Trek. They ruined Vulcans and Organians and went crazy with alt timeline bullshit.

Hard disagree. It had good Star Trekky episodes all throughout, the third season was what Voyager should have been, and the fourth season redeemed everything (before shitting the bed with fat riker)

genuinely asking i've never seen any trek show after voyager. are nu trek characters just a bunch of homosexuals, niggs and lesbians crying all day for racism, homophobia or misogyny like an average netflix show?

      Discovery, yes.
Snw, no, although they quip a lot if that bugs you.
LD, no, although they're snarky like a bad copy of Scrubs.
PRO, no, but it's a show for kids

LD is literally an animated lesbian romcom. SNW is borderline parody and all female characters are smug dykes.
Agreed on PRO, though. Shit feels like old Trek but animated.

The first two seasons are BAD. The third season is better than nemesis and fun but it's by no means specualtive science fiction. It's basically "let's get everyone together for one adventure".

      >NuTrek
The definition is broad but all NuTrek has certain qualities in common
      >blunt political messaging
      >homosexual worship
      >dark interiors
      >swearing

All star trek is like that. TOS has the first tv scene with a black woman kissing a white man.
Star trek always had a very liberal tone to it, it's
anti-religious (countless times that traditional religion is mocked, sometimes a very freemason-like vague "spiritualness" is preffered), it's very liberal in sexual practises (in TNG there's an episode where doctor grannie tells an entire planet to repopulate by having each women breed with several different men lmao).
Whenever they touch the slavery subject, it's always american blacks crying like b***hes despite the US having one of the short periods with slavery in the world, and definitely not being the only race of people to be enslaved.

The dark interiors and swearing things are more related to the time these series were developed. 60s star trek had that bizarre feeling that nowadays would look like mockery, like 60s batman.
TNG had that 90s series feeling, with quips and closeups of actors doing a funny face reacting to something that's happening.
Enterprise started to introduce edgy stuff and environments because the 2000s were edgy and angsty as frick. And swearing came with it and only increased since then in all media. Nowadays you cant watch any series without wearing "frick" or "fricking" every minute

The truth is that what both liberals and chuds liked in star trek is still there:
Chuds liked the military and organizational appeal. It's still there.
Libs always liked the homosexual morals and space communism idea: it's still there.

That's what star trek always was and likely always will be. The newer series and movies suck? Yes. But it's not only star trek, ALL new media is garbage.

TOS was Christian. Picard was a gaytheist, but he wasn’t representative of TNG’s wider ethos.

yes we all know that man but the 90s shows still amazing and watchable compared to today's standars. that's why i was wondering if there is a nu trek with the 90s you know "social issues" something like muh humanity needs unions and more workers rights! instead of niggs and gays crying

        Anonymous

Something that also makes nutrek unwatchable to me is the way the characters talk.
People may say that the characters in the old shows come off as "robotic" but that is simply because they are people living 300 years in the future, they're meant to be far removed from our current culture.
But the gen X hacks writing the new shit can't grasp the idea, so they have the characters speak in a very obnoxious Californian "oh my god, like, totally" way where every fourth word is "fricking" or "shitty". So fricking cringey.

What counts as Nutrek? TNG was pretty homosexual on its own way, but was still good.
There's no absolutely perfect Star Trek series, TNG was the best, it had the best episodes and tons of good episodes. But it wasnt perfect. Enterprise, in my opinion anyways, is better than most Star trek because it feels more close to how humans would actually act.
That said, DS9 was indeed very shitty, and everything after Enterprise is utter garbage.
