      >Pen Ward
All he really did was create the original pilot. I don't recall him having anything to do with the full Cartoon Hangover series aside from voicing a computer on the Bravest Warriors' spaceship in one episode. Now that The Midnight Gospel is confirmed cancelled, I don't know what the guy will be doing next.

Considering the success of this and other CF shows for that small 4 year window of time, the experiment was something of a positive thing. But YouTube pulling the rug from under people pretty much sealed its fate. In another world, BW had a strong finish that everyone enjoyed on YouTube and people would remember fondly.

              >never seen again after laser tag arc
Yeah, I wish that Eff-nocka would've been in more arcs but I'm not surprised he was only there for a brief stint. Ian and Meredith were SVA friends and she probably wanted to boost his work but Octopus Pie ended up outlasting NockForce anyway. I wish Ian and Meredith would collaborate in the future though.

              >practically becomes a main character, is almost unrecognizable by the end
Yeah, but I think she latched onto Marigold in later years and ended up elevating her to the main cast. Maybe it's because she put a lot of her into the character? Marigold practically shares the same nickname as Gran in real life.

              >Puget Sean
              >sporadically shows up as a punching bag
Never really liked him anyway but yeah, he kinda got the shit end in the comic. The panel where he sleeps in the rain was not even his lowest point, in my opinion.
At least Will and Eve got a decently happy ending though.

Youtube was also the reason the show even lasted as long as it did. It only started going wrong when Youtube Red flopped and YT started axing shit to make up for the loss, leaving the team creating Bravest Warriors to have to shop around for years for another network to pick them up.

Vitiligo is this generation's equivalent of heterochromia, a character trait that adds nothing to the design and is only used to make a character more "unique and special".

                Anonymous

All these artists are trying to do is normalize a fairly common skin condition. They were being very casual about it with Cass, too, so you can't say this was all in an effort to "make her design more special."

Cass has vitiligo. That's it. No need to make it a bigger deal than it is.

                Anonymous

In fairness, I've seen plenty of people on Tumblr just treat vitiligo like its a thing you can add to a character to make them "quirky yet relatable", like making your character fat and giving them stretchmarks. That anon isn't wrong to say people use it that way.

                Anonymous

Having known someone with a pretty severe version of it, She sure as hell didn't want people drawing attention to it. That said Cass seems to be a case of doing it "right" in that it's there but doesn't define her

I liked Bee & Puppycat's pilot but I hated the series. It's kind of like PPG vs PPG 2016; what made the original so great was it's cutesy stuff was mixed with somber, melancholy themes, hints at lore, and genuinely unsettling monsters, while the series was just 100% cutesy stuff 100% of the time.

I fricking hate Adventure Time and Steven Universe including the first 1-2 seasons.

But I enjoy Final Space and Star Trek Lower Decks.
What kind of writing can I expect out of Bravest Warriors?

      Anonymous

Something closer to Adventure Time and Steven Universe. So it starts out with general adventures and merriment, delves a bit into more eldritch horror before immediately doing a backflip off into the love triangle dropzone and cracking its spine on the pavement of "social commentary" and "refuses to have a satisfying conclusion".
Basically, if you watch it, don't bother watching the fourth season, it's the worst of Adventure Time and Steven Universe combined.

      >YouTube Red
The show wasn't done for YT Red, but it would've helped to make it an exclusive. Channels get more ad revenue from Red IIRC.

Yeah, it wasn't, but if I remember remotely right Youtube Red going under meant a lot of other channels that were being given funding as part of Youtube experimenting with new directions to take were conveniently given the boot at the same time as YT Red being downplayed, and Cartoon Hangover was one of the victims of it

I don't think YT was the sole purpose the show sank. they were also experimenting with having cartoon hangover be it's own 'channel' where you get first access a week before and then the show went to YT. there was a lot of product first, show second (look at Bee and Puppycat) as well.

First and second season were considered good for web animation iirc. Third season is more debatable on its quality because that's when the love triangle shit started going heavy. But general consensus was that the fourth season sucked ass, in both animation and writing quality.

Back when they produced Bravest Warrior not only Youtube was giving creators funds for their projects but the monetization system allowed short cartoons to make money.
The not only youtube removed their funds but also made them impossible to make money out of adds.

IIRC Danny Antonucci pulled some kind of magic that allowed him to retain nearly full creative control of Ed, Edd n Eddy. I haven't actually looked into the details of that, but it's something I've seen brought up time and time again.

if what i remember is correct:
antonucci got to keep everything related to the EEnE IP because he produced the series at his own studio in Canada to take advantage of tax credits given to Canadian productions. all of this required that the IP remain in Canadian control. CN was OK with this as it meant they got a cartoon on the mega cheap

EEnE never took out any Canadian funding. It was all paid for by CN.

They made an entire second season after the first one tanked because of VRV, but it got leaked when the Frederator CEO uploaded the whole thing to his Vimeo.
