How many tours have you served? I’ve lost 3 chefs in a grease spill while stationed in Red Robin. You’ve probably never even worked The Pit.

Thats what makes the show so fricking lame. They acknowledge and belittle the whole tryhard aspect of carmy and his restaurant but then try to play his Black personloving at work and israeli family drama completely straight.

Working in a kitchen is harder than construction. Restaurants basically get to abuse bright people with shit pay and ridiculous work loads because they crave stressful environments and like drugs. I’d say it’s more synonymous to that super flamboyant oil rig guy slapping the pole around, they could work a normal blue collar job but they want to be in motion all the time so their brain shuts off. It’s like why you never stop shitposting, so you don’t have to listen to yourself in your head.

You get hazard pay for oil rig work and some of them buy big, ostentatious trucks they don't need.

any advice for a entry level welder?

          Anonymous

Practice, practice, practice. I'm still an apprentice and I'm a mediocre welder, but I'm a hell of a lot better than when I first started. Get some stick time and you'll figure out what works for you. Also get a pancake hood, it's so much better than a sugar scoop it's not even funny.

            Anonymous

I got certified with stick welding horizontal but didn't get to vertical or overhead test before the program finished. Then I find out they don't even use stick but flux core in the local maritime industry.

              Anonymous

I wouldn't sweat it too much, if you can run a steady bead and read the puddle with stick then flux core is little baby shit.

It's exactly the same thing, you just use pistol to add the stuff.

Cool, thanks. Is pipifitter that much different ?

                Anonymous

Pipefitting is similar to plumbing, but you work on high pressure systems like steam lines, heating and chill water for A/C systems, piping for oil refineries and chemical plants, stuff like that. You work on all kinds of stuff besides weld pipe, like putting in boilers, brazing copper lines and demo work. We have a combined plumber/pipefitter union so when I'm done with the apprenticeship I'll have my journeyman card for both.

          >any advice for a entry level welder?

Always remember what welding is - using electric current to melt two materials at the same time and using added liquid metal to glue it together. That goes for every method - stick, TIG, MIG in all positions.

It's just the food industry. Americans need their slop served up immediately or they'll starve.

It was hard & stressful because his whole staff were pieces of shit. I can understand maybe keeping the cousin around because he's family but everyone else needed to get replaced. I couldn't b believe in season 2 he called in all of these favors and paid a lot of money to train his staff. I would've told them all to frick off.

Unironically you should have gone to the bathroom before leaving and pissed all over the seats. Lunch staff are usually way less than dinner so its possible the owner would have made her go in and clean it up.

Firefighting? You know chefs have to control the temperature of fire and keep multiple things from being on fire at once right? With no allowance for anything to get overheated or burned. You can't compare it to some civvie that just puts water on fire.
