There's a meta scene in the show where a neurotic israelite basically calls him out and says the only reason why Don Draper (Jon Hamm) is successful is because he's physically attractive.
Apparently I was thinking of the wrong neurotic israelite.
It’s funny reading the mini theses people will write about how acktually frasier’s son was in the wrong and Draper isn’t just coasting on his face/frame

>You don't have any character.
lmao this is actually way better than I remember. It's almost too on the nose. The writers knew exactly what they were doing.
It’s just uggo cope though. Draper oozed charisma and had genuinely clever ideas. He was also well spoken with a commanding presence and possessed initiative. He didn’t have good morals true but who cares, its advertising. You’d have to be moronic to be in that industry if you did. Sometimes people really are the full package.
>Dull monotone
The term you're looking for is 'composed,' and it's both because he's a fricking professional and it's an artificial front to cover up his insecurities and shame
He would have clashed with other leads such as Karthesier (Pete) and Slattery (Roger) if he had been more animated. Was it a little too reserved? Perhaps, but I think it suits this characterization well.
And Hamm has plenty of range in other roles, he's very gifted at comedy.
It dips in quality a little bit towards the end, but the final season redeems it. I think the peak of the show is actually towards the middle, like Season 4.
because it represents a distorted version of the 60s office that liberals enjoy having changed from, despite the fact that most people who worked in that industry at the time said it was pretty lighthearted and equal in the office
I loved Mad Men. Jon Hamm is a kino actor. I'm looking forward to seeing him return to an office role with his next film Corner Office. It also has Canadian actress Sarah Gadon who plays his secretary and love interest.
It's wild to me when people don't "get" the most on the nose cultural commentary or characters imaginable. Like damn dude I wonder why don talks and carries himself the way he does, am I going to think about the cultural context of 1960s America or what being in his shoes might be like? No because I'm a fricking moron who watches marvel movies lol
It's called The Carousel.
Good luck in your next thread.
Because he's literally me and the studio misappropriated my likeness. I should get a paycheck.
Calm down Carlos
You got those cool narcos movies remember?

>cuts off his nips
>dragged out of the office kicking and screaming
>gets lead role in a new series

Yeah? Which one?

Do ugly people think that "character" means being a fricking clown ?Is he supposed to pull out a pair of bowling pins and start juggling for them ?
>looks and charisma make you a better salesman
No way.
Great value Tony Soprano
boy did they take notes in terms of cinematography dark dark dark

Is Mad Men worth watching and consistently good or does it go downhill at any point?
Consistently good, if anything the first season is the weakest one
>boring
Just go watch a Fast & Furious movie or something, zoomer

That doesn't make him any less boring a character and more impressive of a performance
>I wonder why don talks and carries himself the way he does
Why does he?
Why would you have sex with a man? Why would you choose to be gay?
