>Whats the point of them?
It's the authors telling people to let go while being unable to re-vitalize a creatively bankrupt medium while remaking their greatest hit with a less subtle or intriguing story and character and CGI bullshit sprinkled all over.
But that's ok - I mean the narrative is shit, the meta-narrative is shittier, but the meta-meta-narrative is GREAT.
The series and EoE is about introspection and learning to accept yourself completely and be open to new experiences, the rebuilds are about socialisation and learning to accept others and seize new opportunities.
Mari represents a new opportunity at happiness but Shinji has to reconcile his angst over past failures instead of wallowing in it in order to have a shot at success.
Too meta. Such things must be better integrated into the narrative. She feels shoehorned, unexplored, awkward.
I can appreciate the intentions but the execution is terrible.
Director milks his golden goose for 15 years and then trolls his fans by saying they need to let go of the franchise and that there really wasn't any point to his wife's self insert character other than her being a self insert.
I think Anno deserved to go back to this series if he wanted to, but god damn it's really not interesting in a non-meta way to watch a version of the story from "happy" Anno (he doesn't seem all that happy to me, but whatever). Reminds me of reading the original trajectory of the TV series which ended up feeling like a run-of-the-mill conclusion to a robot show.

How much "original" are you talking about - want EoE the "original" finale?
Wrong board
No, frick that shithole.
All i know of the rebuilds is there is a girl with glasses they added. Whats the point of them?
>Whats the point of them?
Retelling the story.
>Retelling the story.
If the guy couldn't tell his story two times already, why give him a third chance?
Eternal recurrence
So Anno could insert his wife to get with his self-insert because he isn't as depressed as he was when he made the real series
If you're not depressed, psychotic, suicidal, or heavily addicted to something slowly killing you - are you even a real artist?
Get a big boobed gf

The anime equivalent of Jar Jar Binks
It's the director's wife self insert. That's it, not even trying to hide it.
the point is anno wants more money and won't let his golden goose die.

They’re fanfiction-tier moronic but you get to see Asuka naked a couple times so ehh
Make money while shitting on the fans that made him popular
putting an actually cute girl in the story
>an actually cute girl in the story
She has zero personality which makes all her scenes boring
dab on asukshingays
I always felt akin to Kensuke so I'm happy
>Whats the point of them?
They were a cynical gashgrab to help fund Anno's new studio.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
Correct take.
Just be happy and successful incel
Unironically, have sex and become a salaryman
Metatextual sequel to original Eva and to Anno's prior work, alongside his shifting perspective from Shinji to Gendo to Shinji again.
Director milks his golden goose for 15 years and then trolls his fans by saying they need to let go of the franchise and that there really wasn't any point to his wife's self insert character other than her being a self insert.
You already have a board where other anime fans see each other. Why are you so scared of posting on Cinemaphile?
Cinemaphile was never good. neither was this board but at least you don't have to deal with elitists or troony mods here.
Cinemaphile is a cancerous board and Anno's work belongs on Cinemaphile
>more Evashit
So this is what it feels like to have lived long enough to see all your favourite franchises go down in flames
>Cared about anything Evangelion beyond the original series + EoE
You only got yourself to blame bro.
this. anyone that gave the rebuilds the time of day is legitimately a moronic consumer.
>he didn't drop it as soon as he heard the 3.0 spoilers
lol lmao
>implying the Reuilds didn't start shitting the bed at 2.0
CONGRATULATIONS SHINJI!! YOU DID IT!!!
YOU ARE A SALARYMAN
B R A P
