Finishing an article about John K.

Oh yeah soulless executives are the real creatives, only a really desperate psychology could come up with that one.

Tiny Toons was already ahead on doing that before him, he just push it to it's extreme, John K isn't special also he not the one who kicked off creator driven cartoons, Nick was, it was all Nick idea and if they company didn't allow to pick up those shows, cartoons still be studio and toys driven, Doug and Rugrats came out same time as R&S. John K is not anyone special as a creator.

Tiny Toons itself was inspired by John K's efforts and he was supposed to work on it before he found out that they were betraying the cartoonists who were told they would be driving the show.

If those executives never ok those shows, you won't have anything like R&S, it's true cope, that's how business works, a suit has to be the one to pass it though.

John is good at self promotion and he was an early adopter of blogs. He did Howard stern, he wrote articles for magazines (and fake letters), he did commentary tracks.

He's assertive and the stuff he says sounds truthy. His opinions are stated as fact and they sound like you're getting secret knowledge. Kids that read all his stuff buy into his charisma and dont fact check any of his shit.

This right here is a classic example
      >Was around at the time where most shows were toy commercials and his ideas helped the industry to phase that out.

No one fact checks this. It just sounds good. And it is the secret knowledge.

Truth be told, John is in love with the cartoons and some comics from when he was 5 to 12. He likes shit just like everyone else likes shit they see when they are 5 to 12. He likes plenty of hanna barbara cartoons that aren't that great and archie comics that aren't that great.

He hates toy driven cartoons because those were his first jobs and they didn't let him do what he wanted. He's no different than any other young guy in their first job thinking they fucking know everything and stuff will be different when they're the boss.

      Two basic counter points:

      1. There were plenty of horrible cartoons before toy driven cartoons. Probably 20 or 30 years of crap copying scoobie doo. Just completely stupid shit like Freddie and Barney are time cops with smoo.

      2. Plenty of toy driven shows had artists and other creative people working on them. Paul Dini wrote an episode of G1 Transformers. Michael Straczynski wrote a quarter of Jayce and the Wheeled warriors. Having dedicated script writers isn't the sin John makes it out to be

Number one, it's not egotistical to acknowledge all the amazing things you did, like inventing a plane and saying you invented a plane. 2, people pretended I was John as I was trying to continue a Renaissance out of his efforts while his blog was active, saying things like this even though I was just a poor teenager trying to work with other artists. This is also where the obsession with minors comes from

There were several times that he could've said to himself, "Maybe I need to change something about my person. To be fair, I can understand why he'd go insane essentially after being kicked off of his own project, I'd be a little more than upset too if I had a successful show that I actually loved to work on, only to be fired from it because of my behavior or poor work ethic. But again, he could've done anything, ANYTHING to keep the momentum of his career going, but no. Point is, there were several times where he could've done something and be more than just "the guy who worked on Ren and Stimpy," as noteworthy as that title is, but he never did. You can honestly still cherry pick some of his ideas, opinions and design philosophies and get some good material from the guy. I still think he was and is a talented artist, albeit the fact that his newer stuff is a touch "loose" for my tastes for lack of a better word, but he's still a bad person. He could've done so much more with R&S, anything from season 3 onwards would've been vastly different if he was able to stay on his own show, and so much more cool stuff would've come from him, if only he fucking knew when to ask himself, "What the fuck is wrong with me?" John is not the only person to have done shit that ruined his career, obviously far from it. And he's also not the absolute greatest cartoon guy to walk the earth or anything, but when an artist of any kind has such talent, potential and ambition to make some really good shit fucks himself over by doing something that is undeniably wrong or immoral, or otherwise their own fault with no one else to blame, it's just really depressing to see happen.

You can also say this about Justin Roiland (to be fair tho, for him it's still all allegations until his trial happens in April). Regardless of what you think of his stuff, you have to admit he really did love what he wanted to do, and all he wanted to do was make something that he thought was funny and was fun to make, something he was passionate about. If he ends up going to jail for what he "did," assuming it's all true, then so be it. But it'll still be really depressing, due to of the fact that he essentially fucked up the chance he had to make anything he wanted for all to enjoy because of something that would be undeniably his own fault (again, assuming it's all true).

TL;DR: If you love making cartoons, don't do stupid shit that'll fuck you over. Lest you end up either in jail for life, or a long time and the best you can do for a "job" is a minimum wage job in bum fuck nowhere that involves soul crushing work, knowing that you will never be able to work in your dream job ever again.

I really don't mean to undermine what he did, for the record.
      >Your better off pretending that he's dead right now.
That's, in part, my point. The fact that that's true is depressing because there was a point where he could've chosen NOT to molest anyone. But instead of doing something about his mental state and person overall, he didn't. Somehow, he never chose to fix himself, consciously or otherwise. Again, I don't know why he never did anything about it, but the fact that he never did only for his behavior to catch up with him in the worst way possible is just... Depressing. He had the chance to be the famous animator he wanted to be, but somehow he didn't have enough self awareness to realize that what he did, be it his behavior towards his crew or the pedo shit, is not only entirely his fault, but would also dash any opportunity, burn every bridge that would've led him to be more than what he is now.

John's a pedo, no doubt; he didn't have to be one though, and the fact that he didn't make an effort to better himself as a person and not just an artist is just sad, even if his fate is rightfully deserved.

The only reason that's true is because you do not want to speak the truth, you want to speak lies which will be brought to the truth to be disintegrated. What you call the "good" of John K only exists in your mind and the mind of all his other haters to exploit his work

Go to bed, Tony. It's, like, 3-4 am in Muttland.

Nice try you schizophrenic dope. Fuck off. You can't draw for shit, Anthony. You're mentally sick and need help

Funny how he thought that my reply to you was just you samefagging.

Alright kid, I'll be working on more messages that will mention you. And meanwhile you're still trying to score points by screenshotting your reset IP because you literally cannot learn properly

Imagine having access to all the reference material in the history of animation and still regressing past the point of recovery.

Because he figured out a way to make traditional animated cartoons within the TV production pipeline. In the Golden Age of Animation, stories were driven by visuals, not dialogue, and the characters could actually act with their body and not just their voice. Ren and Stimpy was the closest anything on TV came to that ideal since The Flintstones.

It's interesting how all discussion of John Kricfalusi has been dying off, even when they mention him they avoid mentioning him by name. Wonder if there's some sort of reason why they would avoid aggravating more drama
