What I've seen from normie responses is a resounding meh. Its not bad but that its ok, its good-enough for longtime fans. The term I think folks are orbiting is "serviceable", at no point does it ever excel at anything, its decent acting and decent effects and pretty much a copy of the comic so no surprises good or bad. People watched it and promptly forgot all about it.

If the Sandman was a wild success it would be a huge internet phenomenon as it is already a famous comic book. Since it landed like a wet fart obviously people don't care about it. Yet again you're a total idiot, you're obviously used to "talking" to kids on the internet who can't see through your simplistic tactics.

            >in 34 countries
Is this supposed to be impressive?

I honestly don't know but some of the metrics they use are reporting that it's a success, it was up to #1 in 89 countries and the services they use are ranking it highly right now:

            https://www.shortlist.com/news/netflixs-new-number-one-shows-twice-as-popular-as-stranger-things-right-now-403342

But why would it be an Internet phenomenon? I just watched the whole thing and enjoyed it so by what Netflix cares about it's a success with me, but what I am supposed to say about it? It's exactly the same as the comics, and I read the whole comics ages ago. What am I supposed to do, speculate? Theorizie? I'm not online talking about this like Game of Thrones because I already know how the story ended. This ended decades ago. The Game of Thrones guy never finished his fricked story so I posted a frickton of theories online. With Game of Thrones I and everyone else online wound up looking like fricking idiots because there never was an ending and the author will never fricking finish the fricking story but there was "something" to talked about. Why am I supposed to speculate about with the fricking Sandman? It's been over forever.

Oh FRICKING SPOILERS Dream dies, Morpheus fricking kills himself in a really convolulted suicide fricking way, the end. That all happened a million fricking years ago.

              >It's exactly the same as the comics,
The comic books had a black Death and that many blacks at points of time where there would be none?

Yeah and I know they obviously did the recasting for woke points, but big fricking deal, I don't give the slightest frick. The comics were ridiculous anyway and most importantly to what I'm talking about it doesn't change the damn story at all. Everything still happens exactly the same way! I already know everything that happens exactly, almost exactly what everyone fricking says, and how everything will end, so what the frick am I supposed to talk about?

OH I liked it by the way and will watch the rest so Netflix's $$$$$ is well spent since it plays a part in me keeping my subscription with them but what the frick am I supposed to say or do about this online? There's nothing to say or do except very rarely share my opinion in these shitty threads when someone else makes them.

Well yeah and they were also from popular IPs. One difference was I heard incredibly negative talk from everyone right away both online reviews and watercooler from normies. This is just by experience by Sandman has been mixed to positive, there was one really negative review in the local papers but otherwise I've heard it was good or it's okay, I never watched those other two series because everyone started screaming about how they were complete shit immediately but I heard okay things about Sandman so I watched it. It's no in as bad a place as those two right now.

                Anonymous

There was more talk about the other two series, though. And Netflix doesn't care about reception as long as it gets high viewership.

The Dark Crystal and Mindhunter were covered in awards but since they didn't have the biggest draw they weren't renewed?

I watched it, it was pretty good. But it also is one of those things where if you haven't read the comics and aren't a comics fan who knew Hellblazer and comics Cain and Abel, you'd be confused and wouldn't like it. While if you have read the comics, it sticks so closely to them that you've experienced it so you don't need to watch the show.

Cinemaphile will b***h about the usual casting it always does now for the typical obvious/pol/tard reasons but the bigger problem is who is this even for? Did anyone who didn't read the comics even enjoy this? While if you did, what's the point of even watching this?

It was strictly for copyright reasons in that case though.

        https://dmtalkies.com/john-constantine-replaced-by-johanna-in-netflix-the-sandman-2022/

There was already a John Constantine HBO Max series in production. The fricking hilarious thing is I haven't check but I bet it's cancelled along with everything else that's not a reality tv show for middle aged women about cats because of the WB setting itself on fire to destroy itself on purpose.

Anyway they were lucky in this case, there was a Johanna Constantine character in the original who was used even more than John was so it was actually fine

EXCEPT SHE DOESN'T FRICKING SMOKE. WHAT IS THAT FRICKING BULLSHIT, INACCURATE AND LITERALLY NO REASON FOR JOHANNA CONSTANTINE NOT TO SMOKE LIKE A FRICKING CHIMNEY YOU DUMB FRICKERS. LITERALLY NO REASON TO CHANGE THAT.

Only saw the first episode. It was pretty good. The racebending was jarring, in that it took place at a time when blacks and whites were not equal and yet there are no signs of that in society. But that's par for the course for Netflix. Otherwise no complaints so far.
