Why are they making a show about the Fantastic Four's baby sitter?

It's all because the MCU fanbase lost their shit over this scene and gaslit Marvel into thinking they had another popular character on their hands

        Anonymous

This scene is the actual reason why they keep changing the title every month, so when they reveal the title is simply Agatha, they can say the title was “Agatha” all along.

          Anonymous

They already shaved the title down to simply Agatha in March. Them trying again to make a catchy title after having already thrown in the towel is just sad.

I hope they're at least self aware enough to compare it to the various sitcoms that tried to do episodes or whole seasons without the stars.

NTA and I'm aware of what it's referencing, it's just moronic to apply to Venom. Venom never dominated the superhero genre and all his films are dogshit. No one will care if they never make another one.

The constant seething over the Venom movies is tiresome, and mostly from people who just can't stomach the very idea of Venom having outgrown his early comic days as a Spider-Man villain. The movies are schlock, but they're entertaining schlock, and that's more than a lot of cape movies have going for them. The first one performed better than a lot of other Marvel and DC characters did, including some who are 'supposed' to be big names like X-Men, Wolverine or Superman. The second one was released while Covid was still happening, and did well for the time. People like Venom.

The movie is called "The Last Dance" because Eddie Brock/Venom is now a trans/gay allegory.
Hollywood has nothing but contempt for your favorite comic book heroes. Turning them all into campy gay parodies for their own amusement is the only reason these movies get made.

I assume all the titles they’ve announced so far will turn out to be individual episode titles.

Not watching the show because I know Wanda won’t be in it and am not interested in them teasing whether or not she’ll come back (she will, but probably in one of the Avengers movies). It’s the Disney+ equivalent of “The Conners.” (Which is somehow still on, WTF?)

      >Not watching the show because I know Wanda won’t be in it and am not interested in them teasing whether or not she’ll come back
Same. They did /ourgirl/ so dirty and I'm not coming back to the MCU for anything less than them fixing what they did, and not for WandaVision spinoffs without Wanda. A Vision show should be an easy sell, but it's almost certainly going to adapt Tom King's Vision comic, which will just create even more unnecessary impediments to them ever being able to give Wanda and Vision a happy ending. DO NOT WANT.

        Anonymous

I feel like WandaVision already kind of took too much from King's Vision run for them to return to it.

It took too much from Bendis' demolition of Wanda, and that didn't stop them repeating it in MoM. It's easy to see them just having traumatized Vision building a new family in an attempt to recreate the life Hex Vision had, everything goes wrong like in the comic, and the real purpose of the show is just to introduce Viv Vision for a Young Avengers project where most of the stars won't be "young" anymore by the time they finally make it.

Having the story be about Vision searching for Wanda, or adapting the 90s comics about his recovery from being killed and rebuilt would be better stories fans might actually want to see, but it's hard to see Feige not wanting to adapt a modern comic that got acclaimed.

Agatha is already solicited as a 9 episode series, but I suppose they could always throw the emergency switch and delay it hack it apart like they did with Echo.

Oh yeah, I forgot Ironheart too which has been on the shelf and that's always supposed to have been six. I think we'll see it as a summer two-parter or the Christmas incentive with Deadpool & Wolverine.

            Anonymous

They have to be reeling over what to do with Ironheart. It's a leftover from their era of just making as much shit as possible to fill Disney Plus, with no thought into how the reception would be. They filmed that shit two years ago, and there's no date in sight for it. After seeing what happened with Batgirl, and also seeing what happened with She Hulk. we can infer that the backlash would be equally bad if they can it or release it. It's the catch 22 of awful television.

It's also wild since the guy playing The Hood was literally in big release films from 2022 to this year and they're missing out on the press:

    >Vision just fricks off forever

As a Vision and Wanda fan I’m very mad but honestly confusion is the primary emotion. What is marvel doing

      Anonymous

Sadly I know exactly what they're doing. Wanda is now off limits to TV because as Multiverse of Madness proved, the movies always take precedence over the streaming shows, so it didn't matter that MoM had the same arc as WandaVision, the creators got the story they wanted.

Which means that even though WV is their biggest hit there's no way they'd be allowed to make an actual sequel with Wanda, so this is what they did instead, a sequel with everyone except Wanda (and Vision, unless there's a cameo or something) using bits and pieces of what little Scarlet Witch comic material exists.

Meanwhile Wanda will be in some terrible cameo in Avengers 5 or 6 with the promise of a movie to be made when she's 50.

Agatha's show was confirmed before the movie disaster. Covid and excessively long release schedules make it seem like they don't know what they've done, though in cases like mom they legitimately didn't because the people making it were idiots who didn't do basic due diligence

In defense of this crew the '50s and '60s episodes of "WandaVision" surprisingly had no "what a terrible time this was" messaging at all. (They even had a surprisingly subtle joke about how black people were portrayed in sitcoms over time, where Monica in the '60s is trying to fit in with the white cast and in the '70s she's wearing an Afro and doing jive turkey talk.)

The narrative of the show locked them into making the past look better than the present, so it's idealized instead of the way Hollywood usually portrays the 50s and 60s. Instead the sitcom episodes and all the domestic/family stuff just make you want a life and lifestyle most us will never have.

Unfair. If it was groomer propaganda they wouldn't have recast the little boys with older actors. Billy would be his current 12 year old actor who would be dating a 20 year old actor.
