The actual redpill is that the first movie is terrible, has a shit plot, is way too long, boring, has shit characters, the actors are garbage, you can't understand not even half of what they are saying because of their british voices, and it's the movie with the LEAST magic of the whole series.
Well it has the burden of introducing the world and characters of the books, the overarching plot, and the new young actors. What was worse was around the 6th movie onwards where it seemed like they gave up and expected you to read the books
yes but they have certain vibe that makes you look past all that
because you realize its a shitty kids movie but its fun its escapism
after that it gets way to serious and adult even the books are utter shit >muh complex characters >muh wizard nazis >muh elf slavery
the short books are fine because they are simple just as the author is
after that she tries to explain way too much but she sucks as writer so its just more visible
The first three were made by competent directors, had beautiful John Williams scores, and were based on relatively short books so they didn't have to cut too much out. Later movies are directed by hacks, have forgettable music and only adapt 20-30% of the books
it comes off as annoying teenage angst. like harry, these people have come around for you about a dozen times, including the human sacrifices. get the stick out of your ass and let hermoine think for you
The teen aspect doesn't help, the first two movies especially are more family orientated while the later films are made more specifically for pre-teens and teenagers so they're ""dark"" but still PG-13 and i dont think that appeals to adults. They obviously had to grow up with the audience so I can't blame them but in 2009 I remember thinking Harry Potter was like Twilight and was for girls
People like it because
1. It has a lot of magic
2. It has werewolves, hypogriffins, time travel, shape shifting, AND FRICKING KINO DEMENTOORS
3. The protags stop looking like hideous deformed children and are actual teenagers
4. It has amazing humor
5. The cinematography is 10/10
The actual actual redpill is that the series peaked here. The first two and a half movies (the latter half of Prisoner is moronic garbage) are fine as kiddy fantasy fare, but the series finally came to its own when the characters became teenagers and Mike Newell delivered coming of age kino.
My least favorite is the 5th one. It's literally just teenage angst Harry, he's just a little mean b***h to everyone, Dumbledore is a b***h, the order of the phoenix is not interesting and neither are its characters, Umbridge is a terrible villain it's one of those "MUAHAHA CAN'T YOU SEE HOW EVIL SHE IS? SHE JUST KILLED A PUPPY! YOU HAVE TO HATE HER!", at least Voldemort has sass and an actual motivation, Umbridge is the whole "S-she's an evil white homophobic maga supporter like my aunt! god i hate her! her character is so scary because uhh she exists in real life!!!".
Series is carried by the adult actors throughout and they help give the series staying power despite its flaws >Rickman >Brendan Gleason >Kenneth Brannagh >Maggie Smith >Ralph Fiennes >Gary Oldman >Michael Gambon until he clearly stops giving a shit after Goblet of Fire

not my problem

True, but remember that it's a kid's movie. I still can't understand how as a kid i could put up with a 2,5 hours movie.
Kids in the early 2000s were obsessive enough to watch a long movie considering many started reading outside of class because of the books

same goes for the movies

The darker tone of the later movies is kino and I'm sick of people pretend it's not
darker =/= drab and boring
it comes off as annoying teenage angst. like harry, these people have come around for you about a dozen times, including the human sacrifices. get the stick out of your ass and let hermoine think for you

More like only the first two. Cuarón is a commie hack.
The third is a shit movie, only those with down syndrome think it's some kind of grimdark "KEENO"
Who the frick likes it because it's grim dark?

Reddit opinion. Movie 6 and 7 (part I) are the best ones.

You got old. Same thing happened after the third book for millennials because now they turned 14 and the 4th and 5th books just hit different.
Emma got old.
The original Dumbledore died
J Rowling is the second biggest sellout and hack
i enjoyed the fourth movie but it was definitely the beginning of the end. 5th onward is shit
they hired a yes man without vision
Series is carried by the adult actors throughout and they help give the series staying power despite its flaws

Michael Gambon was always shit
He’s decent in 3 and 4 but I agree Richard Harris was much better for the role
Best movie, best Emma
i have several dreams involving in which i am a student at hogwarts and i go on all sorts of adventures with Merula, my tsundere
they were good
All the kids stopped wearing robes. It stopped feeling magical when it looked like a normal high school.
