I'm a staunch conservative and this was the funniest movie I've seen in years.
It's not really, her brain develops a lot faster than a two-year old's brain in a two year old's body. At no point is Emma Stone using childlike mannerisms while fricking; most of the sex scenes, though often explicit, go by relatively quickly like a montage.
The story reminds me of (I haven't read it in years so forgive me if I'm misremembering) Candide in that it's about a very naive character with few predispositions about society and morality who interacts throughout the story with a variety of characters and situations and his lack of a framework lead him into misadventures. I think the device of the brain swap was a (very fun, morbid and gothic) way to create a tabula rasa character exploring different aspects of society, morality and philosophy from a perspective of youthful wonder at the world without preconceived notions of morality or The Way Things Work. Sex is obviously a big theme that gets explored throughout the movie, another one is the reality of human suffering, which Bella has no frame of reference to understand and her childlike response to it is a source of comedy.
When you read that its about someone with a two year old's brain who has a lot of sex I know how that sounds, and given how fricked up Hollywood is I don't blame anyone for making those assumptions. However even though her understanding of the rules of society stay completely naive, by the time she's on the boat she's reading Emerson, and even before she leaves Godwin's house (and before she has sex) she's exercising a strong degree of agency, so even if there's some ambiguity about exactly what mental age she is at a given time since her ability to process things is far more progressed than her childish mindset, it definitely is not the pedo-bait that people are framing it as.
plus they make it very clear that she develops uncommonly quickly by giving us Qualley's character as a counterpoint, the same character in concept but who doesn't learn quickly and doesn't get sexualized

I don't think Godwin would have wanted her to do the transplant in the first place, I think he had a certain level of wisdom and acceptance by that point and wouldn't want to escape death.
I agree though that the girlbossy tone of the ending kind of rubbed me the wrong way too. There's a lot of exploration of philosophy and morality in the story and I would have preferred an ending where Bella really reckoned with everything she's experienced or found some more sophisticated sense of peace rather than a fairly extreme form of comeuppance against a character we haven't seen that much of played as a "slay" moment.
Still, the vast majority of the movie is absolutely fantastic to me so a somewhat conventional last few minutes doesn't drag it down much. Definitely the best film of 2023 I've seen by a mile.

I walked out of this movie 30 mins in because I'm a squeamish b***h and the brain surgery scene made me nauseous. I liked what I saw until then, some really funny visual gags and good performances. I skimmed the synopses of the plot afterwards I don't think the movie would have been my cup of tea in the end anyway, so oh well
