Nothing, honestly. I like female characters. I don't mind female Mary Sue-type characters in the right context, like a fantasy story for instance. What I do get bothered by is all the woo-hoo around there being female characters. Just tell stories about women! Don't crow about it. It's unseemly and it turns me off.

In Star Trek The Next Generation, there's an episode where Troi is the highest ranking person on the bridge and she rises to the occasion to show her leadership capabilities, while clearly not being perfect. She doesn't know that much about science and engineering which is why she has to rely upon her subordinates.

If this story was written today, Troi would be perfect, the story would be about rising above the Mansplaining and oppression of the males around her. Liberal and "woke" stories are written different, with the only drama being when the males will learn that the female is perfect to get out of her way. Old stories wrote women as capable equals, new stories write them as moral superiors.

If she were done right she wouldn't be a girlboss; she'd just be a boss (female). Examples include Buffy the vampire slayer, Xena warrior princess, Capt/Maj/Col Samantha Carter, Kathryn Janeway (mostly), Lara Croft, and Miranda Keyes. All of them managed to be competent and earn their subordinates' respect without having to tear down men and muh patriarchy.

Charaters that are without flaws, agressive and arrogant to everyone around them are insufferable, men or women. These types are usually petty henchmen or secondary villains who gets a horrible death that makes the whole audience laugh and cheer. The idea that those horrible human beings can be accepted as heroes is stupid, no matter the gender.

Those are male traits, and they think that makes them STRONG. Their goal is to make STRONG AND EMPOWERED WOMEN. in video games the same kind of people are making female characters actually look more masculine and it's a growing trend of both desexualization and masculinization. In live action they still have people so you're left with these dainty 5'4 women trying to look and act tough.

        >Those are male traits
Not at all. Because you see even male, strong characters got some flaws and chinks on their armor. They have a funny friend they care for, a love they lost, a soft spot in their heart that make them take dumb decisions to save a weaker person/kid, etc. You endup rooting for them because you learn that they are hard because that's what the world demand of them, but they put their ideals/people/mission above themselves so they get respect from the audience.

The girl boss is just narcissistic. Me, me, ME! I AM THE ONE, I AM SKYWALKER, I AM THE LAST JEDI, I DO WHAT I WANT! They don't care abou anyone else, the game to them is about being the biggest c**t in the room even if means fricking shit up for themselves.

It's feminist writing, written from their own insecurities and narcisissm.

The traits associated with men are confidence, aggression, strength which make up masculinity. The traits associated with women are nurturing, passivity, emotion which make up femininity. In feminist writing these roles are reversed so you have passive weak men and strong and aggressive women.

I don't hate it, but a lot of them are written terribly while the showrunners/marketing/fanbase brag about them. There are examples of good ones where the writers don't phone it in. Girl boss is a different animal than a Mary Sue, but similar in that it's a power fantasy that men often can't relate to. Women of this ilk tend think that authority/confidence/competence is >granted<, not created. They believe women are excluded, not understanding that everyone is excluded until they can prove otherwise. The girl boss is planting a stake far into neutral territory and claiming that women only fail because of men. It's an insipid belief by people who refuse to examine their own failings then. A male character written as a girl boss is just as obnoxious.

      This.

Women think male leadership is a lottery, but men must fight other men to attain leadership, not physically always, but by performance in front of other men..Men want good leaders because it is better fir them than the alternative. Sports are a proxy for combat now. Team captains are selected by skill and achievement and men understand their contextual place in a male hierarchy.

Women don't experience this to a great enough extent that they internalize it. They never experience trial by combat so they have ill-formed concepts of leadership, hence the girl boss.

it's a perfect example of how hollow Hollywood is, and how they are disingenuous about their virtue signaling. they'll pretend to be woke to appeal to the moronic lib masses, but at the same time they're propping up sociopaths who covered up rape to climb the Hollywood ladder.

There will always be a small subset of women who are genuinely more male brained/autistic than the rest and I don’t think they should be prohibited from taking part in the economy or studying science or whatever they want to do. The problem is when it’s imposed as a normative societal thing and all women are told that they must be male brained to be fulfilled. I think this is why we think of these toxic personality things when we hear the word girlboss. I think this is also just one part of the brainwashing we impose on children

It's a deliberate inversion of reality. This is much different than a storyteller trying to suspend your disbelief, because a storyteller probably isnt going to argue with you if you question the practicality of giant 50-foot robots. Ask a storyteller why there's an all-female platoon, and you'll get a whole schpiel about how it's the 21st century and women can do anything a man can do.

A lot of this is social engineering, and it's been happening for so long that people have grown up consuming it. That's how you get people ITT who try to justify it by putting it through some arbitrary checklist
    >she doesn't constantly demean others
    >she's not perfect and makes mistakes along the way
    >she grows throughout her journey
OK, these are all staples of the hero's journey, and you would still have to bend over backwards to put a woman in this traditionally male role. You're still agreeing with this false premise that men are interchangeable with women.

It's a fake imitation of being an actual boss or leader. It's a product of a DEI/affirmative action era where women truly grew to believe that they deserved these critical roles of status, that men had to earn, simply because they were women and wanted it.

Men are naturally hierarchical. They know what a boss/leader looks and sounds like. So when a child who is playing pretend gets one of those seats it is painfully obvious why. Women have a harder time understanding just how cringey and annoying it is because they aren't in our world.

Imagine actually defending the absolute shitshow of a corrupt hierarchy we have in modern society.
Reminder that Epstein just walked into some fellow israelite's office and was immediately given a high ranking position in charge of millions of dollars and a free house.
That's only the tip of the iceberg too when it comes to just how many positions are gained through old boy networks, secretive organizations like Freemasons, ethnic supremacists like israelites and to a lesser extent Indians, Chinese, rich Anglos, and so on.
DEI/AA stuff is just the latest iteration of constant attempts at undermining the meritocratic basis of society. This latest incarnation of the culture war is just a distraction from the bigger picture here.
Most men don't earn their positions in the hierarchy either, so it's pointless to fixate on women.

By doing this thing in court, the woman will be liable for all the court fees because she admitted she owes money.

More often then not it prioritizes a social agenda over creating a character that feels unique, nuanced, or complex. "Girlboss" characters all feel the same because they all try and emulate the same virtues and try to avoid the same flaws.

Take Peach for example. What makes her stand out to me as a character is her overwhelming femininity in everything she does, from interests to simple movements and mannerisms. Even in games where she fights, she does so with such a whimsical flourish that it practically comes off as accidental, and it makes her interesting and endearing. But in the movie they stripped all that away except for basic appearance. I don't think she was BAD persay in the movie, but she felt distilled down to the same confident and competent girl who can run with the boys that I've seen in every animated movie since Shrek. Her girly mannerisms were what made her stand out, and I don't think they needed to be sacrificed for her to be taken seriously.
