god Ricky is a gay
I loved the time, I think it was Karl dunking on Steven, where he said that a woman leaned in to push his glasses, as they were very near the end of his nose, all the way back and in doing so pressed them against his eyes because they were literally bulging out of his head and he has to wear them that way because there is no other way.
Ricky was an ass, it was a known quantity. Everyone going into the show and who watches Ricky knows he is an ass. RICKY knows that he is an ass so bantering with him is expected. Merchant clearly likes to think of himself as the voice of reason or more refined out of the group, even if he is just as big of an ass. Thus there is more satisfaction dunking on him since it knocks him down a peg (as opposed to Ricky who will just laugh)
>Ricky knows he is an ass
People talk a lot of shit about Ricky Gervais but I love that part about him, at least on the Xfm show. He knows he's an butthole and a shit stirrer, that's why it's so great when Karl and Steve talk scathing shit to each other and in the background Ricky pretends to mediate when really he wants it to continue for as long as possible.
English banter culture, Karl's English working class background along with probably knowing Ricky has contempt for most mainstream actors compared to Steve, who's kind of a priss, make Ricky more agreeable to him
He banters with Steve because they're mates. He just didn't plain didn't like Ricky. His makes his utter disdain for the man perfectly clear in the XFM shows.
Look at the segment where Stephen says that the working class makes him uncomfortable while Ricky is more relaxed and chill around them. That's probably a huge part about it.
The cartoon cherry picks the segments that make Karl sound as dumb as possible. A lot of interactions on the old radio show have both Karl and Steve ganging up on Ricky.
Kinda sad you go into this expecting more of the same magic from Merchant's Portal performance and he's just there for Ricky to bounce off of and act as a backup more than anything.
Stephen is good with Ricky and Karl, but he's also very good on his own. If I made a cartoon or had my own show I'd totally have him voice a comically evil villain character.
To this day I don't understand what kind of man would participate in a show entirely dedicated to making fun of him. And not just shallow stuff like how he looks silly or something but intimate stuff like his inner thoughts.
The robot from portal 2
fatty-fatty no-parents
Whats wrong with being adopted? Uh... uh.. Lack of parents!
I love Stephen so much, such a funny guy.
WHeatley
No joke, I only learned he was the Wheatley like two weeks ago.

It was Ricky who said that.
Why did Karl dunk on Steve so much instead of Ricky?
Because Ricky is the one who paid the bills

That's just poor/lower class british guys in general, they really don't care

That never happened
Yes it did moron
He made jokes about "working class scum" but what you're saying is bollocks

Ricky, Stephen and Karl are like the perfect trio, honestly. They’re the dynamic you want in a friend group.

Being married to Karl must be such a blessing.
Just wake up and immediately have comedy gold forced down your throat.
