Second ep: I liked the beginning, and Wilzig, but that scene of him running from the turret is so bad. And we get more cringe dialogue with Lucy obviously. But the worst of this episode was the BoS and Maximus scenes. From these two first episodes, the BoS is moronic beyond imagining. Now, military irl are not saints, far from that, a lot of people in commanding positions try to frick up the newbies to an autistic level, but it doesnt compare to the BoS. I know that in the games they are like this too, they send you to a suicide mission in fo1 to The Glow. However this was done to an outsider. Why they treat their own recruits like that? How can they even function? Also the action scene with the bear is poorly made as frick. The guy fought with some punches,watched the bear get angry like an idiot and said frick a hundred times and then our Black comes in and shoots it at the head with a small caliber pistol and insta kills it. Its so dumb. Also the cgi sometimes doesn't look good, especially in some quick animations. Now Maximus has power armor, which he nearly instantly knows how to control everything, even the absurd strength. All the protagonists walk around and somehow they all meet each other in this city at reasonably the same time, looking for the scientist guy. Then our ghoul makes a show because he is supposedly a vats high agility build. His lines are good, "I will make myself welcome". The actions is, sometimes. When he throws the hook on Max in the air is so weird, its throw from a different angle? The Ghoul also feels invincible, like he gets throw around like a sack of shit, gets punched by someone in power armor, breaks everything with his body, and he doesn't feel anything. Also, something a anon said here and I agreed, this wasteland feels to safe for Lucy. Where is the danger of being a naive woman in this world? Traveling and time management is totally off. The goat of this ep is the old lady from the store. I liked her. 5/10

yeah the worst part so far is how moronic and undisciplined the BOS are. they aren't centralized or uniform by any means I the game but they all have a nearly religious system in common. I was hoping for more of a technodoom cult like the guys in Planet of the Apes.

I hate them so much. From the first moment you fly through their camp and they show a dude jerking off, I knew it was moronic and degenerate. What does that scene lose without the guy beating his meat? What does it gain by showing him jerkin the gherkin?
This was the point I made in my first ep review post here. For some people, that was supposedly comedy. I didnt find it funny at all. Why was that there? What does it achieve. Remember Arch Dornan in or the communications guy fo2? If they wanted to make militarism funny, why not put something like that?
Maybe jerking off is this generation's fart sound. Jerking off can be funny in a certain context but to do it during an establishing shot? Makes no sense but clues you in to the moronation you're about to endure. Couldn't even make it to the end of episode 2 without giving up.
Ep 2 is objectively bad, ep 1, aside from these things, had me hoping that it could become better. But ep 2 fricks it all up. Im going to watch ep 3 today, since I have nothing better to do
I didn't find the jerking off funny either, I viewed it more initially as a realism thing, like the Combat Jacks in Generation Kill. but now that you mention it, yeah, it was definitely in there as a comedic thing, our very first view of the BoS is supposed to be a joke.
I like that they're moronic in the show. I've seen enough shit that I know I'd just groan if they tried to make the BoS behave like space marines. I'm kind of holding back on calling space marines cringe. I mean it's cool to see some scifi military guys being badass killing machines. It's just more immersive and relatable when they act like humans.
It would be too much for me if the BoS in this show were all perfect and flawless power armor knights who never frick up. I want to see wasteland morons in power armor LARPing as knights. That's who they are.
Now of course it would be nice to see at some point a squad of really elite Brotherhood soldiers wearing T-51 or something and kicking ass. Surely those exist in the wasteland. But I still think they made the right call portraying this particular Brotherhood chapter the way they did. I find it amusing.

It's not even a little bit bleak, it's very goofy. You have to have pretty low standards to like it, but standards have been at rock bottom for decades, so it's still a solid 7-8/10.

NOBODY, and I mean nobody, acts or talks as it they're surviving in a wasteland. Everyone is self-aware and behaves like a character in a TV show. In a way, they behave like NPCs. There are no stakes. There is no threat beyond absurd plot-derived violence. The main characters have two foot thick lead lined plate armour and everyone else is just waiting to explode into a cloud of blood and guts. The plot is absolutely paper thin and yet still manages to be littered with holes and contrivances. It's the most moronicly written garbage I've ever seen, that demands its audience abandon all logic and self respect. In essence it is the quintessential am*zon television production ever made.

Yeah, the actor is decent actually, he portrays the anger and dread of feeling below pretty well. He could have been a low ranking member of a raider party, BoS is trash in this series. But Bethesda has to use the shiny power armor to keep the teens watching, so its this. I just accepted that every fallout media is going to have the BoS.

I don’t see how anyone who haven’t played the games could possibly enjoy this. Literally Fast and Furious have a stronger character build than Fallout. There’s no humor, no suspense and the drama doesn’t work because frankly why should I care about any character in this show? In gaming terms everyone is like a NPC. People die and nobody in the show gives a shit so why should I care? I think the science guy got a bit upset about the dog. That was it. Fallout is a totally numb experience.
