My friend finds Maximus to be the most interesting character by a lot. He identifies with Maximus's blend of low IQ confusion and sense of morality, where he wants to be strong and good but that's a big challenge.
I know Max's actor is really good because in that scene when he's eating popcorn and sees them taking Lucy (with the bag on her head), he gives the most extreme but subtle look of disappointment and he puts down the popcorn. It's very subtle but well done. There were actually quite a few moments like that with multiple characters, I think the actor direction was fantastic

Isn't it too early to tell whether the interest is genuine and long-lasting? They're rushing it so quickly.
Rings of Power was so bad and people are warry of Fallout for that reason. However I think the people who made it genuinely played and liked the games. Especialy New Vegas and Fallout 2.
Is it a masterpeice? No, but its a good attempt to capture a videogame in narrative form. Its a very hard thing to do without making it look goofy. For example look at the Hitman or Max Payne movies. Its easier said than done. You can look at it as good/servicable Fallout fan fiction, unlike Rings of Power which was super bad fan fiction.

The fight scenes were comically bad, the entire premise of Vault-Tec & the other corps dropping a nuke to instil a worldwide nuclear war to wipe out all life & leave all in the vaults as the sole inhabitants is ridiculous. the very notion that getting rid of all life would mean there would be zero hope of getting life back after a period of time. it would take millions of years. it is a ridiculous premise that corps would want it to happen. Some megalomaniac insane ppl, yes, but corps are about profit.
