Don’t short change yourself first off. Offer a few slots that are cheaper than your baseline price. A lot of the time people take too many at once and can’t time manage well or they offer 10 free revisions without being comped and it ends up costing them more in the long run, usually getting burned out because of it.
Realistically what would you pay for a portrait or full body character? Whatever you think someone is going to say no because they want it cheap, and they don’t respect you.

I'd say it's a matter of knowing your worth as an artist so you don't price too low but also being realistic with how you price things
with my commissions I actually give some variety to my prices: for example a full B&W illustration that's got poster sized dimensions I charge $70-100 depending on how complex the commission is, and the colored illustrations are about $50 more, and anything else like extra characters or backgrounds adds more to that.
Giving a potential customer variety and choices in what they can commission and how much it'll cost, while it can seem overwhelming to them, will at least tell them right away what you're about and what you can do for them.

This whole thread is making think many things. Around 20 years ago I wanted to make my own story but cant draw for shit. Around 11 years later a friend tells me to search for an artist but none wants.
After reading this, I dunno. I feel sad I did not do my story but at the same time made me wonder if I did, probably something would had happened and not do it or if I had hired someone some shit would also happen.
Some say it is better to try, but some experiences have told me at times it is better to not try.

The moment they got any complaints they privated their Twitter and then started posting more and more of themselves. Which in of itself was ridiculous since even then there weren't many complaints. The dude's posts were met mostly with indifference or a compliment or two. Fricker ended up doubling down and opened a onlyfans and seemingly stopped drawing at all. Which was a shame.
