The '67 casino royale is a fantastic parody of bond movies and the only problem with it is they didn't get rid of all of peter "nooo I'm a serious actor now I'm not doing comedy also Orson Wells scares me so I'll be a whiny b***h to him" sellers scenes which add nothing to the film and suck

Maybe it's simply a case of the modern films I've seen being utterly boring, but Xanadu was so completely unique and different I thoroughly enjoyed it

    >Why are critics so fricking stupid?
You have to understand that major media critics will always be influenced by the time their reviews are written. Be it the major political opinion at the time or a recent event that took place, or even something as simple as a similar movie coming out at the same time. Or an actor or genre being overexposed so gems slip through the cracks.

    >Unique premise of seeing essentially a murder mystery through the eyes of an animal that can't communicate with people, like a horror version of Beethoven
    >Amazing practical effects, Werewolf suit is top tier
    >Understandable and reasonable humans who just don't have all the information we do
    >Fair bit of tragedy and the brother giving in to becoming a werewolf as a metaphor for his grief about being unable to save his loved one.
    >Final battle is a dog going toe to toe with a werewolf and the film actually spent a shitload of time making it make sense.
    >Child abuse

    >33 percent on rotten tomatoes

Starting to think they don't like horror or something.

Xanadu's screenplay is a mess but the movie has that great crazy early 80s energy so it's fun to watch. Gene Kelly is still one of the most surprising castings ever. Lol.

      this review explains a lot

they start of by saying the movie has everything
      >exploding automobiles
      >muscular heroes?
      >wise old men
      >immortality
      >sword fights
      >ancient legends
      >beautiful women
      >lightning crackling through the sky
      >beheadings

then these numbfricks continue by saying it's all been done before and mentions movies people never heard of
      >Vikings from 1958
      >That's Entertainment from 1974
      >That's Dancing from 1985

then they complain that the movie is laughable and ridiculous like that is something bad?
these are two jerks that can't be entertained by movies appearently and therefor should't review them, why anyone hold their opinion worth anything boggles my mind

Roger Ebert is a known gimp

It's been speculated he got his position by dicksucking and neckrimming, very likely to manipulate the masses into liking gay stuff, black wokeness and pedofilms

Why would I have to prove anything? I called out some anon for a careless remark about films "people have never even heard of". Well, I've heard of them, and have seen them multiple times because I own them. Vikings is the worst if the lot by far.

I got it during my Janet Leigh phase. Her scenes are OK and basically all I watch at this point. Other off-the-beaten-path JL recs: My Sister Eileen (the remake, a musical), Romance on Rosy Ridge (her debut), Scaramouche (French period film with great swordfighting), Jet Pilot, and The Perfect Furlough.
