it is, just dont take it too seriously. Its 20th century surrealism, so its basically the first shit that appeared in the mind of the author merged with exoteric themes. Its a film about anything and everything at the same time

if you ignore the hidden meanings filtered by the knowledge of Freud and Jung philosophy, you've just wasted your time by merely looking at shadows on a cave wall lmaooo

I have never once thought about a movie and I lose respect for people that waste their time even further doing so. The pretty pictures are all that matter, which is why Speed racer is my favorite movie. Write a book if you want to philosophize.

you are mistaking a method that a bunch of artists used to create their imaginery with some kind of way of discovering the hidden forces that drive human thoughts. I bet you also believe in astrology seeing you type like a woman

The goal of surrealism is applying the language of Freud and Jung, and apply the dream interpretation to reality. The dreams stop at the edges of what the brain is serving as a mirror, while reality can just keep on going.
The goal of surrealism isn't to depict what the figures represent, but instead try to depict merely the figures casting the shadow. Which is another way to cope with not escaping the cave.

Surely there is some substitute for "goal" that you like enough to shill for in this context?
              The dream?
              The path?
              The given?
              A method?
              The formation of?

The ART of surrealism is to apply.....

The art of surrealism is to be surreal. Any additional interpretations are a spook. And even if you disagree with that, applying rigid steps or definitions to interpret a meaning that you then insist is 'correct' is also completely antithetical to surrealism.

I dunno anon, to me this seems like the sort of movie where the trailer is 100x more interesting than the movie itself and the final product is a boring piece of shit that severely overstays it's welcome.

well they are both naked and have long hair but John Difool doesnt really seek illumination, he is just a fool (Bravo Jorodowsky) that get involved in a galactic maelstrom of shit. His simplicity and impulsiveness end being useful but he is little more than a puppet

        still reaches illumination eh
but IMO there's enough similar cues (especially visually) to draw parallels between both characters; it's just common that creators are attached to specific physical traits given to a limited set of characters reoccurring throughout their works

Why are there no artists like Jodo anymore?

He had balls of steels, didn't give a single frick, was committed to his vision, didn't make any money but kept going. Guerilla filmaking.

You can make your own movie and narrative with the Tarot. Thats what Jodorowsky did:
