Finally saw pic related. II can't decide whether I like it or not. I mean I WANT to like it because James Cameron rules but I thought it was missing something his previous films had.

I fricking loved it. The look and atmosphere, the world building. I know the story is paper thin, but I don't care. The music, the characters, and one of the best villains of the last decade. I get it if people hate it or think it's shallow, but I find it very entertaining. Can't wait for the next one.
>entertaining
sure that it is, however I would have been even more entertained if it had better characters and dialogue. not saying I hate it just saying it could have been way better,
Same. And unlike most movies the bad guys actually win in the end, it's a nice change of pace.
Nobody remembers Avatar for the story. The only thing anyone cared about was the visuals, which were revolutionary for their time.
weird, i just watched this tonight. Fern Gully was better
story's good too though. i'm a sucker for a Dances with Wolves situation. the funny part is that it mirrors Alien. Ribisi playing Paul Reiser's character
I love FernGully and that's legit one of the reasons I like Avatar so much.
Seeing the alien wildlife is cool. The rest of it is pretty bad, especially the racist indian caricatures. Should have made it an Alien Planet style documentary.
>racist indian caricatures
They're just a tribe, and if you're lookin' to virtue signal you've already fricked up. It's ackchyually Native Americans.
>racist indian caricatures
It must be brutally daunting being a softc**t looking for softc**t things to cry about constantly. Have you considered not being a softc**t, anon?
Are you talking about patel the character wasn't a stereotype?
This movie has been released somewhere on earth?
Or is this a schizo thread?
its shit, objectively. If you want a superior execution on the same theme then watch this.
this is so fricking good. probably my favorite miyazaki along with castle in the sky and nausica.
The older I get the lower I rank Mononoke. It's brilliant for sure, but I find myself gravitating to Miyazakis other films much more. Porco Rosso, Nausicaa, etc.
>Nausicaa
I would agree that Nausicaa is objectively superior to Princess Mononoke
Have you read the full story? It's worth it if you haven't in my opinion.
Get better taste
people who think like you lack serious parts of the brain . anime and film are not 1:1 . hell you idiots cant even grasps that movies in general are not 1:1 comparison .
i could go on and on but basically what your trying to argue is mario 3 is better than Uncharted (i never played but sas far as my argument goes i remember people saying uncharted was more like playing a movie than a game ) mario 3 is very much a different game than uncharted even tho both are 'vidoe games' the experience is also quite different
in closing . Most people did not see james camerons avatar in a proper imax theater in 3d that was set up correctly ( i saw it on a regular digital cinema 3d and it did not feel the same as it did in imax .
part of the imax experience was i was immersed . i have memories of turing my head and seeing the pandora landscape and not a theater . i remember the vertigo when Jake and nitiri crossed the log bridge , when the home tree spirits floated around .
i want to go back
I love that the CG in a film from 2008 looks leagues better than anything Marvel shits out in current year.
No Tw;dw?
And, that’s a friggin huge twactow!

>never been to Czechoslovakia
>never seen the kino Zetor The Zealous
NGMI
Worthington's botched american accent is what ruins it for me
3D Imax was still a novelty at the time and this film exploited the medium to the fullest
I rewatched it the other day. It's not unwatchable, it has a fraction of what used to be standard in Cameron's movies. Believable and interesting world-building. Mostly the human stuff. But I was shocked how stock this film is and it's not just the plot that's similar to a couple other movies it's the lines too. "You're not in Kansas anymore", "Get some" and many others including the final fight. And the metaphor is so crude. I don't think there's an original bone in its body.
It's not a bad movie. It's the eternal story of being bewildered and seduced by a foreign culture and way of life so much that you become part of them. The last samurai, dancing with wolves, etc. And the visual effects are really good. Just an enjoyable movie.
YAAAAAASSSSS. SASSLLLLAAAAYYYYY!! XDDD
I just wuvved the fwoating wocks!

Dawe i say, bwiwwiant?
I want Neytiri to sit on my face
Before or after she steps out of the catbox?
Just saying pacing like every fricker does who doesn't know what he's talking about
It's because everyone was expecting a return to the sci-fi action everyone knew him for from Terminator and Aliens. Avatar is the best remake of Pocahontas we ever got but it's still Pocahontas.
