fwiw, my first impression of season 2 is I fricking hate Black folk and "YASS QUEEN SLAAAAY" characters. But I'm willing to give it a chance. I started S1 hating all the characters and it changed my mind. Hopefully S2 does the same.

It's funny because that's exactly how I felt when Max showed up in season 2. I watched 3 seasons of this crap for some reason.
I can't even be bothered watching season 4 because I saw some chart of the screen time of each character and Max was at the bottom.

You only got me to reply because someone is explaining why I watched season 2 and 3. The show had so few characters I liked. It was just Max and Hopper. The mall in season 3 is cool. I don't know what season you're on. It must be 2.

Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, uh... Billy seems like an butthole but you learn about his life in season 3 and his father was worse than him so you understand why he is the way he is.
I don't like the main squad at all and I guess they're just there to appeal to kids.
I'm on season 2. There's definitely a lot to hate, but giving it a chance, there's a lot to love. And I'm trying to love it.

I'm glad that you're able to enjoy it but the more you watch, the more you'll realise why people complain about the show because every season is the same story, even if there's new characters. It's like capeshit in that regard where if you watch enough of them, you'll eventually notice that you were watching the same thing over and over.
There's actually a show on Netflix that's like the adult version of Stranger Things so you should watch it if you haven't. It's a lot better.
