I don't know what you're arguing about. You're both morons, if you ask me. Robocop's armor helps him survive firefights, yes. But his main advantage is that he can work almost 24 hours a day (not counting maintenance time), with no days off. The main idea in Robocop was that they wanted a prototype of the robots of the future, which they would then replace all the cops in the city with. But no one is saying that such a robot can't be destroyed. But it's a street patrolling robot, not a military machine.

he's slow and not even that well-armored. He's a good psychological tool but realistically at least one criminal would have gone for his head, which is evidently less armored than the rest of his body. Some goon tries to do just that at the start of robocop 3 and only misses due to panic.
of course, he's also a moron at times. See

He doesn't need any "super powers". It is a robot designed to patrol the streets and apprehend criminals.

Being a robot is both a marketing gimmick by OCP and a means to assert their control over law enforcement by eventually making all cops programmed machines designed to ignore or aid OCP employees.

Maybe if you watched the movie you'd understand that.

the thing that makes the original robocop so good is that it's such a bleak world but it has all that absurd humor

            Anonymous

            1) In the first film, the idea is not to make a military machine. It's a police patrol robot who can take direct hits from a gun, and make an arrest. That's it. Plus they needed to make it very quickly and cheaply to show management and get a contract. It was obviously going to be further upgraded.

            2) The original shows very accurately how the robot works and the problems it brings with it. What exactly do you think is bad scientifically? Maybe in some ways they were too naive, in some ways they were too straightforward, but you have to discount what time it was filmed. But they actively consulted with scientists, engineers, and even the military. Considering what time it was filmed, you have to remember, they still had to make the film understandable to the general public of its time.

            3) There is no "solution to his own murder" because it is not any kind of case. That's the point. Cops get shot like dogs, and criminals are covered by OCP. OCP actually funds crime to destroy the police and buy a crime-ridden city cheap. This is one of the main plot arcs. Maybe you'd understand it if you could watch anything more complex than Marvel movies.

See this post? That's you saying CGI didn't exist back then.

        Alright, bud...hahahaha.

See this post? It is a list of movies with CGI.

Those films don't have CGI and you're being a homosexual on purpose.

See this post by you? You are saying those movies don't have CGI.

saying the computer graphics used in those movies are conventional CGI is like saying a stickman on Microsoft paint is CGI. you're a dishonest piece of shit that gets his rocks off being annoying. I sincerely hope something horrible happens to you and you realize how much of an obnoxious homosexual you are.

See this post by you? You're moving the goal post in terms of what you define as CGI. What YOU define as CGI.

And you call me dishonest for saying "Movies had CGI back then, here is a list of them." And then you deny, attack, move the goal post, suck a dick, slurp the cum, vote democrat, and complain when things aren't going your way. And I love making you mad because people like you can't stand being wrong. Again, this is the internet, son. Don't take it so serious. Take a chill pill, AKA you prescription of Xanax. While he's knocked out lying on a park bench he gets stabbed a half dozen times in the head with a pocket knife while his girlfriend watches. That's the sort of thing that'll happen to you one day when you do shit like this to some actually unstable dude. They saved his hand. He didn't need it, but they decided to keep it. The one left that the bandits didn't shoot off. That's an interesting detail. It's the same hand he'll use in the third movie to try to touch and caress the girl who falls asleep on his lap. By then he has already lost everyone he loves. But even that girl he can't caress - he only makes movements around her head similar to stroking her head. She's asleep, and the cold metal wakes her up. He won't feel anything anyway, and it will only wake her up. So he just repeats the motions in the air.

Nancy Allen's acting is pretty bad and this is coming from someone who defends her in stuff like Dressed to Kill.

The motivation of Boddicker near the end is pretty contrived with them needing that awkward scene with Dick Jones to convince him to fight RoboCop for no reason other than business opportunities, like any smart kingpin would just say frick this and get out of there.

The final fight scene is kinda underwhelming with RoboCop slowly walking from explosions.

People overexaggerate what a great satire of the times it was, it was actually well out of date by 1987 with most films from the earlier 80s made better parodies and satires like Repo Man.

I would argue. I don't see a problem with that. He worked for Dick Jones. Yeah, he could have run away, I guess, dropped everything, told him to go to hell. But... why? He's a mass murderer of cops. And being protected by Dick Jones, he's actually kingpin, that's what makes him kingpin. But he also doubts that he needs to mess with Robocop and wants to up the ante. And Dick Jones gives him and opportunity to become something more, to gain power, and also provides him with tracking Robocop and a huge weapon. Of course, he takes the bait.

The chin strap continuity error. When his helmet comes off, the chin strap deal just disappears.

Just like the children in 80s were watching motherfricking Robocop instead of some gay cartoons.

Blatant misogyny throughout this sloppy flick. The remake is a lot better.

    Stop-motion effects are very dated.

Other than that I got nothing. Robocop is the best movie in history, on a shared number one spot with Predator. It's crazy how they were both made in 1987.

Perhaps they are dated but I’m partial to them versus CG render stuff, likely because of nostalgia tinted glasses.

In the director's cut, murphy dies because Lewis is distracted fricking the black criminal

Damn, I think I remember that. Typical Black person moment.

It's funny, but there was originally planned to be a love scene between Lewis and Murphy. Can you imagine that it was Paul Verhoeven who insisted against it, believing that the love line between them would only distract the viewer.

And that's why I love the sequel. The first movie was very naive at some points. But it was the sequel that showed a more realistic and bitter picture of the city.

Lewis brings him baby food, that he needs to eat to live, and he shoots it all.

We never got an answer to whether the gas station attendant could outsmart a bullet.

Have you ever asked yourself "What if Bobby could fly?"

I never really understood the "Robocop must eat" concept. In the second film they completely abandoned it, or just don't show it. Why does Robocop have to eat? Does he also shit?
