Does Nathan act the same as he does in Nathan For You in this?

Unlike Nathan for You, which was about pretending to help people, The Rehearsal is about actually helping people. This Nathan is more sincere and more invested in a positive outcome... but he's still an autist with questionable actions.

He drops most of the autism act, but still occasionally brings it back out in force.

It's about actors pretending to bully each other. It's fun.

Nathan isn't bullying anyone. He's sincerely trying to help them get over a stumbling block in their life.
    >some nice, awkward lonely guy
Kor was a fraud who has been lying to his friends for over a decade.

Been rewatching Nathan For You and it's so funny how obsessed midwits are with whether it is fake or not, and somehow thinking that any fake aspects devalues the whole show and suddenly it just isn't funny anymore.
First of all, the show clearly has writers coming up with funny material, it has great editors and a majority of the humor comes from those aspects, his interactions with people are also funny but the actually creative side of the show comes from its writing and Nathan himself, whether something is fake or not doesn't really change anything. Also it very clearly isn't fake a lot of the time, it's easy to spot when they use actors to enhance a scene.

I've never understood this obsession, I've never understood people that watch Nathan For You (and now The Rehearsal) purely as some kind of candid camera show, how do you manage to get filtered by a fricking comedy show? how do you not recognize that there so obviously is more to it than whether or not every scene is real?

The point of N4Y was to manufacture dumb situations to see how people would react. You have obvious actors (like the pee guy in the rebate) but then there's the Karen who seems legitimate.
I think an example of not getting what he wanted was Claw of Shame. He goes to talk to the parents and gets nothing out of them. It'd a good premise but he doesn't get much from the entire ordeal.

        >The point of N4Y was to manufacture dumb situations to see how people would react
Yeah but the dumb situations also hold up on their own. The last episode I watched was the exterminator one, and its such an elaborate and stupid process they have to go through, like him having to hide as Nathan pretends to be a maid, or the whole chinese dragon performance just to get the mattress out of the hotel. That is funny on its own, I don't even need the prank element, is it funny that he got the guy to hide in the little cart? Yes, but the funniest part is just how needlessly elaborate it all is.

because it isnt funny enough to be scripted
        but it still is scripted

Nathan For You is funnier than 100% of scripted comedy shows that have come out since the 2010s

you act like there's a reason that it gets the "but its real tho" pass taken away and is judged as another scripted yawner
your taste in the matter doesnt factor
          hence the cancelling
