Fixing Primal's Ending

Literally all they had to do was have Mira and Spear frick BEFORE spear got fricking char broiled. That scene where they hand jive for the moon? Just have their hands touch, lead to an embrace, cut away. Then, after he gets burnt, she lifts his hand to her belly and they share a sad but hopeful smile.

Thats it. Thats fricking it. Gendy why did you have Spear go through all these adventures and struggles only for it to end like this? I sincerely do not understand what he was even going for.

Nah primal was ruined with the season one finale when Mira first appeared. To fix primal you’d need to have spear shrug when she was hauled away and go back to man vs nature adventures for a full second season.

A month ago I'd agree with this, but think about it, it will get boring quickly, this season was weird, you didn't know what would gonna happen next. I started kind of disliking this season but now it grew in me.

The human stuff was a breath of fresh air for me because I was already tiring of the monster-of-the-week slaughterfests. I just wish we didn't spend so much time on the boat.

My biggest issue was the time wasted on pointless flashbacks and then blowing the entire final conflict that's been built up for most of the season in 3 minutes.
The guy didn't even get to see Spear die.

It's the same show with the same characters and the same hyperviolence. They were just given a specific goal instead of wandering aimlessly.

The second season was everything we all said it would be. A corny, shitty abandonment of the original premise. For you people who didn’t actually like season one that was a good thing, but most of us didn’t find it boring or even verging on boring. I could have happily watched 20 more episodes of man vs nature. You feminine folk needed it to change and it fricking killed the show.

Mira probably didn't like Spear and just fricked him because he was dying and crossed an ocean to save her. It was a kindness for a close friend who died to save her, so his genes would live on.

This is the impression that I got from what we actually got, but I still found it uncomfortable and would have preferred OP’s version.

Or, heck, if it was really that important that Mira and Spear stay platonic but also important that Spear have an heir, why not just shove in some bit with one of Mira’s tribemates jumping his bones because she has a huge fetish for exotic hunks. It’d be a little forced and awkward, but still better than burn victim sex.

        >I still found it uncomfortable
        That's the THING.

        It's PRIMAL.
Dude splattering the brains of monkeymen is not unconfortable, but raw sex for a heir is?

I know a lot of people were grossed out by the state of Spear, but I liked the sex scene for these reasons. There are some animal species that die immediately after sex, but they still seek a mate. Spreading their genes and creating the next generation is so important that they will do absolutely whatever it takes. While this cartoon has focused on violent fighting, sex and reproduction are primal too; possibly even more so than fighting and killing.
Mira's decision to give Spear an intimate farewell caught me by surprise. I found it sweet that she wanted to give him comfort during his last moments, but there was also a calculating element to it. She decided that she didn't want Spear's bloodline to end there, and she wanted her offspring to carry his genes. I'm okay with it. Such ruthless mate selection is just another aspect of survival instinct.

Fondling her breasts would be more comfortable, since his dick is pretty much cooked sausage already.

      >Saves her from bondage TWICE
      >protects her over and over
      >Returns her to her homeland

Like, suspension bridge effect should be enough to get them to frick. Regardless, if you are insistent about her not being a love interest (Despite him clearly caring for her and risking his life just to come find her) then why do the fricking at all? Why not just end with episode 9, them sailing off into the sunset?

Like, I'm not angry I'm just fricking confused. I have no idea why gendy did it like this. The romance with Ashi in Samurai jack, while rushed as hell, you could at least understand the ideas and motivations there.

        > Why not just end with them sailing off into the sunset?
        >I have no idea why gendy did it like this.

He really, really wanted an ending shot of Spear’s daughter riding a T Rex into the sunset. The fricking was necessary for him to explain where the kid came from.

I get why having Spear have a kid is important to some of the themes to the show, partly because if you don’t clearly indicate that Spear left behind some kind of legacy, then you risk walking away feeling like the whole thing was for nothing. Procreation is the final and greatest primal instinct.

But the fricking itself could have gone down so many different ways and been better. Terrible execution of the fricking.

        >Regardless, if you are insistent about her not being a love interest (Despite him clearly caring for her and risking his life just to come find her) then why do the fricking at all?
Because the kid was the point. Spear was doing all this fighting for survival but didn't actually have anything to fight for until Mira, and even then he didn't feel like he belonged anywhere. Mira couldn't give him exactly what he needed, but she wanted to give meaning to all the fighting he did for her sake. Survival may be primal but procreation is the most primal thing of all. Separating it from romance is probably the best way to make that point.

Admittedly crispy monkey rape probably isn't the best way to do it, but I can't think of anything better. The suggestions I've seen for improvement always add a romantic element that was specifically avoided.

Him decimating the entire village that held her as a slave and beat the crap out of a literal fire demon. It was also a big act of kindness to Spear but it also benefits Mira and her village somewhat. Their daughter is gonna be a beast of a woman when she reaches adulthood.

I'm not a big fan of roasted sex but Spear was supposed to feel isolated and lonely, if he and Mira had fricked before that would frame them as a couple/mates and would be taken as if he had found a place to belong beside her and their child.

More like I'll forgive it if season 3 goes the anthology route and jumps into it guns blazing. I want S3E1 to be a wild fricking ride. I will still trust Genndy to do this, Primal overall was just way too goddamn good of a show to let Genndy's usual bullshit take it down after one round.

Ya know everyone focuses on her not having a romantic connection towards her, but we ever think that the both of them never had a romantic connection with each other. Yes he cared for her enough to find her but that's just platonic.

Because the show is about survival against all odds. Though at deaths door, Spear survived through Mira. It's a form of survival he couldn't do alone, and loneliness was at the core of Spear's story in the episode.

Reposting my ending idea from a week ago:

Primal season 2 ending Kino edition:
    >Fire Viking kills Fang
    >Spear watches and in a moment of pure rage manages to kill Fire Viking
    >Vidarr's like "holy shit this guy's has way more vengeance in him" and turns Spear into the next Fire Giant.
    >Fire Spear leaves
    >Mira and Fang Babies watch this all unfold
    >Mira is still preggers (Spear cummed in her five minutes earlier)
    >Next season is about Spear's daughter and Fang Babies tracking down Fire Spear in order to save her father's soul from Vidarr.

      That's pretty generic, anon.
I hope you're being sarcastic about this.

With all the gruesome deaths in the show so far, I expected something horrible to happen to one of the trio like having Spear's balls smashed or ripped off or Fang's teeth smashed till she's pathetically roaring away with a mouthful of bloody gums.

What was the point of having Fire Viking so powerful in the show but have him do so little vengeance.

it didn't need fixing, maybe giving Spear a son instead of a daughter would have been better but it's a gift to Gendy's own daughter so whatever.

    >she didn't love him.
she clearly did BUT they were pretty much two different spices so she pushed her feelings away until it was really a "now (and give him an heir) or never (and his bloodline dies)

      >so she pushed her feelings away
I didn't see any evidence of this. Most communication is done through body language in this show and the only time she seemed to have conflicted body language is when she was debating leaving Spear and Fang after Fang laid her eggs. She obviously had affection for him but the body language she showed didn't evolve past friendliness until she was riding his dried up slim jim.

    Rate my autistic idea:
    >either axe Primal Theory (great episode, but unfortunately fricked with the season's pacing) or make the boat saga a 2-part episode instead of 3, freeing up one episode
    >second last episode is mostly the same as episode 10, except without the fight scene
    >introduce some kind of landmark while Spear is being introduced to the village, like a shrine to the moon god or some kind of sacrificial pit
    >Replace the fight scene with shots of the fire viking walking to the village, demolishing anything that crosses his path
    >episode ends in a cliffhanger with his finally reaching the village
    >final episode is demon's tearing up the village while looking for Spear, natives try to shoot him with arrows but nothing is working
    >Spear and Fang lead him away and up the mountain
    >Fang gets roasted and dies, Spear goes nuts and tackles demon
    >tumble down the mountain until they land on the previously mentioned landmark
    >before demon can land the final bow on Spear, gets destroyed by the magic of moonlight or some shit (takes a god to kill a god)
    >slightly less awkward sex scene before Spear dies

    >time jump to years in the future
    >Mira is looking after her and Spear's child
    >all of a sudden, village gets attacked by another tribe (Huns, maybe)
    >while villagers run for safety, Mira and her child run to the gate
    >attacking tribe breaks down gate, only to find Mira and child, mounted on fully-grown Fang's kids, ready to attack
    >season end

      >before demon can land the final blow on Spear
After this I was expecting Spear to tear open a portal in time where his unga bunga is law.

I do think Fang should have perished alongside Spear. They could have had the emotional final moment together they deserved right there in the battle, and still set up the epilogue where their offspring are partners just like they were. It also sets up an interesting premise for those offspring where they have wild roots but grow up in domesticity without guidance on how to be truly Primal like their parents. This is true for the cavegirl but I think it'd be interesting if the dinos had to learn to tap into their instincts without Fang's direct help, because they'd basically be raised as pets.

I agree primal theory was a really good episode but I hate that it was part of primal. Nothing in season one suggested that Primal was our world and the 8
1850s London really took me out of it and the setting. Primal was better when it was undefined Conan world. Than they had to add Egyptians, Philistines, Babylonians which were one thing but than they added fricking knights.

i don't like how fang dies. would be cooler if spear and fang kill fireviking together like fang pins him down while she's on fire and spear beats him with a rock, mounted on top of him and also on fire until viking stops moving. the flames disappear but spear and fang are already tok damaged, they make their way toward eachother. spear leans against her. shots of their eyes shutting. roll credits
