Reminder that the Cardassians were supposed to be the Nazis but they were so kino that the audience loved them to the point that writers started shitting their pants trying to make Dukat look like an anime villain.
Marc Alaimo and Andrew Robinson just had too much charisma, those two alone made nearly every Bajoran character look flat and uninteresting by comparison. Its little wonder audiences started to enjoy the cardies.
This so much. I didn't appreciate it at the time (I watched DS9 as it aired as a kid) but those guys were some of the best actors in Star Trek and they had to do it inside rubber suits. Andy Robinson is a great interview.
Marc Alaimo made Gul Dukat too likable and popular. Ira Behr hate that fans were so quick to forget the 5 million Bajorans so that's why they scrapped his redemption arc prematurely and did a 180. even then he was still likable.
>Hire kino Shakespearean stage actors to play the bad guys >Hire daytime TV actors to play the good guys
They were asking for it.
all the villains were more charismatic actors if you think of it.
Dukat, Weyoun, Eddington, Garrick and even Quark
Eddington was a chad before male pattern baldness hit.
They shouldn't have set up Dukat as regularly saying he advised against the harsh treatment of the israelites and trying to feed as mang of them as he could. He was kind of telling the truth until the end they wrote that out.
Me too. That and Voyager are the only Treks I’ve watched. Like, I know what happens in all the other shows, but these two shows is what I think of when I think ‘Star Trek’
Kira seemed like one of the weakest links of DS9. She was just there in the end to be a romantic interest for Odo? Because other than that romance everything else barely sticks. One episode nearly all her resistance friends get massacred and the next she's happy and it's business as usual.
she had an interesting story and represented the interest of the Bajoran people on the station
but I do think the writers had a hard time writing her >One episode nearly all her resistance friends get massacred and the next she's happy and it's business as usual.
not as bad as the one episode where Obrien spends 20 years in jail and just gets over it
This is where Star Trek kinda falls flat compared to something like Babylon 5. You go back and rewatch that and you notice even the garbage filler episodes call back to earlier events or include hints at things that haven't happened yet.
Twenty Years with no Keiko was like a vacation.
I feel bad for Miles, and Keiko's actress. The only time she wasn't written as a personality vacuum were when she was either 12 years old or literally a demon.
>Be the perfect Ferengi >Do everything right >The Grand Nagus decides to just make your moron brother the new Nagus >He did it because your mother rubbed his ears every night before whispering poison into them >Brother leaves to destroy your homeworld with his moronic ideas
And people say Garak suffered...
Im surprised everyone let Quark's shit slide (especially Sisko) after he schemed for that trill that wanted to take Dax's symbiont (and Dax became friends with him afterwards)
For me, it’s Empok Nor. Garak gets autistic over a board game, then lures the crew into a death trap and murders half of them because O’Brien wouldn’t play a game with him, and at the end of the episode O’Brien mutters something about how there will probably be a hearing. Two episodes later, Garak is on DS9 designing wedding dresses, seducing Gul Dukat’s daughter, then running off on the Defiant with Sisko to battle the Dominion.
Imagine with the floodgates for star trek shows opened after ENT killed everything, if the showrunners were competent and understood what the fans wanted. Even S3 of Picard is overrated and was forced to acknowledge/work with the 2 shit seasons before it.
ENT never gained traction until season 4 but by then it was too late, and reality tv was taking over network television so it got the axe with one of the worst series finales they could think up. Nemesis also bombed so we got no Star Trek for years until israelite israelite Abrams decided to reboot it. Then after that came nu-Trek which was largely guided by israelite israelite's friend/colleague Kurtzman.
They should have made it all a dream happening in a snow globe held by an autistic anon.

ignoring the last episode I really liked where season 4 of ENT was going, its sad the network kept fricking them over.
season 3 is good too in my book but I can see the war arc being polarizing, especially after 9/11.
Frick anyone who says otherwise, Faith of the Heart is good until they try to jazz it up with the re-arrange.
Did I watch the final episode wrong? I thought Ryker was using the last episode as "I'm gonna hop in here and see what these legends think because I have a big decision coming up." Just that the series was over with and Ryker was talking about what they did.

It was a slap in the face to the audience at the time
The cancelation came out of nowhere right after their strongest season. They stuff Frakes back into his uniform and basically have him press the off button on another series.

Peak zozzle. Imagine if Breaking Bad ended with Tony Soprano waking up and thinking to himself, "Wow, I betta be a betta fatha," then stuffing his face with gabagool and playing catch with AJ.

I dont think you can really compare a planned fade to black/bad ending like Sopranos to something like Enterprise where they just get canceled out of nowhere and have to write the episode at gunpoint.

There's nothing to indicate the entire series was a holodeck simulation, just the parts shown in the final episode. People repeat this rumour because they don't actually watch the show, they just watch clips on YouTube and repeat what they've been told by other people online. It was a bad ending though.
Kira is for Dax
SHALE! SHALE! ITS ALL SHALE!
Kira is for the O'Brien's
the kira/obrien thing was such a well executed joke
>Dax
I hate how Dax was made into a trans icon in today's world where the mentally ill are free and encouraged to push their insanity on everyone.
i dont give one fricking shit about some twitter screenshot
troons ruin everything

Uhhh he goes to space hell

The Wire for me.

Leeta was many things, but not flat.
It's a push up. Chase Masterson has/had sad flapjacks.
Marc Alaimo made Gul Dukat too likable and popular. Ira Behr hate that fans were so quick to forget the 5 million Bajorans so that's why they scrapped his redemption arc prematurely and did a 180. even then he was still likable.

Damar gets a good retribution arc

many such cases, everybody loves honourable "bad guys" with a code.
I love DS9
Me too. That and Voyager are the only Treks I’ve watched. Like, I know what happens in all the other shows, but these two shows is what I think of when I think ‘Star Trek’

She was supposed to be Ro.
Kira was a terrorist and it's cool that not all the main characters were good guys in the traditional sense.
She's supposed to be the self insert, morally correct proto girlboss with the troubled past. They literally had a other go at Tasha Yar.
she had an interesting story and represented the interest of the Bajoran people on the station
but I do think the writers had a hard time writing her

he's the Chief, he's not some little b***h. Even if it bothered him he's not gonna talk to anybody about it. Things got weird in there
At least with the O'Brian one there's an assumption that he had counselling between episodes, the next episode is probably like a month later
O'Brien and Echar definitely gave in and had sex at least a couple times.

I agree
star trek is so fricking gay
also she was sexy in the mirror universe episodes

Not canon
False
Bzzzt

Discovery is not canon.

never forget how quark was ready to fight and defend his bar when klingons were about to attack

Who are the best short-haired Trek girls?
By shortness of hair, T'Veen.
>bald

wait, what happened
i only saw the first season
ENT never gained traction until season 4 but by then it was too late, and reality tv was taking over network television so it got the axe with one of the worst series finales they could think up. Nemesis also bombed so we got no Star Trek for years until israelite israelite Abrams decided to reboot it. >series finale
what happened exactly?
i heard the writer for the ep became suicidal after the reception from the audience and the actors themselves, but i never saw it myself
okay i looked it up
>it was all a holodeck simulation
holy shit that's pretty bad

Yep. The ENTIRE SHOW is a fricking holodeck sim. And they killed Trip because "B-BUT SPOCK WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE FIRST INTER SPECIES ROMANCE!"

I want Kira to sit on my face.
rick and morty stole the scientist stuck in illusion while friends are controlled by aliens trying to coerce information out of him trope?
Now Tain I can get into.
The spy shit was the best shit.
For me, it's The Visitor.
