No way you actually believe this. Of the media hobby boards this is the most moronic and philistine one. Maybe second after Cinemaphile.

It's an excellent flick, but not something you'd want to rewatch often. Doubt a bluray is worth it, unless money is not a problem.

Reading about the production is almost as fascinating as the movie itself. One of the actresses was a famous soap opera star who refused to get naked once filming started so Russell had her use some cheap granny panties in a scene and it looks utterly surreal

the story from his autobiography had it that he gave her cash to go buy some fancy undies but she used it to get a Brazilian wax instead (which was still fairly unusual at that time), so they quickly had to go get a pair from Marks and Spencer's, a local britbong chain department store.

Interesting. I read one overall remark by him saying that she wanted underwear from an expensive store and they got her M&S. She looks totally surreal tied up but wearing those absurd panties

why the frick can't British film productions afford ONE PAIR of sexy panties?

It was apparently a somewhat shoestring production (one of Grant's 1st roles) and Russell seemed to want to punish the actress for her fussiness about a character that clearly required nudity

Why didn't she just wear her own panties for the scene? Union rules?

It's a fascinating disaster. Very eccentric and visually odd. The plot itself is mostly absurd and apparently has practically nothing to do with the story. Well worth a watch at least

It's funny. A weird camp comedy. Hugh Grant and Peter Capaldi should have had further adventures destroying horny demons.

Best line: "Ah, The Dampton Worm! -oh sorry!"

The extras seem interesting, including commentary by Russell himself:

You have to let go of expectations and relish its visuals and narratives absurdities. Russell called it a comedy, it requires a wry approach to fully enjoy it
