Very kino. Two con artists, one Nic cage (old agoraphobic) meets his long lost daughter. Chaos ensues. It's just not a movie a 13 year old kid should be super pumped about.
no its actually really good too, not just good casting on a forgettable movie. i think it was very dry, and "slow burn" before the style became popular.
This was a better Man Who Killed Don Quixote than The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
agreed. felt soul numbing to watch whatever that was that got shoveled on the screen when we could have had pryce/driver kino to parallel with bridges/williams
good movie but would the premise resonate with zoomies, who only think of cameras as their phones and only put their photos on facebook and have no real concept of privacy and regard voyeurism as an unspoken conduct?
This movie reminds me of the summer I spent at my aunts ranch in Tennessee. She introduced me to all sorts of kino, including Demolition Man. I fricking hate California
It's a housewife power/sex fantasy.
- Set in romantic but stuffy French village
- You have a special competence / magic
- You melt people's hearts with that power
- A mysterious hot man sweeps into town for a romance
I never remembered the name but the plot synopsis sure sounds familiar.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083169/ >Military cadets take extreme measures to ensure the future of their academy when its existence is threatened by local condo developers.
think they were called 'shanghai noon' and 'shanghai knight' in american releases but yeah both were really good. they were just under the shadow of the more quotable rush hour movies. also shanghai knights was cias first significant role afaik
As far as kino ratings go, watching movies that a had a lot of hype/marketing around them at the time but nowadays no one remembers it at all - is pretty high up there. There's something comfy about it.
watched this during lockdowns. expected to be disappointed but it was really good. think irish humor just doesnt translate perfectly into american settings, strangely. alternatively:
i don't think so, it's not on most 90s must-see lists and it's generally not a movie seen by people nowadays
it's probably something everybody that was alive then watched when it came out but it's lost all popularity since
shame because edward norton's performance is kino
Hopkins is in every movie holy shit. The tagline I just saw for this movie on a poster was >I SHOT MY WIFE... PROVE IT
haven't heard of it but want to check it out eventually
Very Bad Things (1998)
When Mr. Wonka tells you not to chew the gum, YOU DON’T CHEW THE GUM.
At one point in time when I was YOUNG it was my favorite movie. My parents should have known I was a fricked up kid.
Whats it about, is it kino?
Kino of the highest order, it's about con artists.
Nick Cage is a con artist with severe OCD/ agoraphobia. It's pretty good.
Very kino. Two con artists, one Nic cage (old agoraphobic) meets his long lost daughter. Chaos ensues. It's just not a movie a 13 year old kid should be super pumped about.
Same. Saw it when I was like 12. Absolute kino.
Absolute Prime Scarjo. Need to rewatch it as I hated the ending back then, but now I think he was in the right.
Damn that’s some kino casting
I always thought this was liam neeson
i couldnt see liam in this. its actually impressive that bridges held his own with robin dominating the screen.
actually still ahvent seen tbqhwyf
Well, it's pretty out of date now with smart phones and all.
nacho remains a cult classic
no its actually really good too, not just good casting on a forgettable movie. i think it was very dry, and "slow burn" before the style became popular.

Try again
Eh. This feels like the Mars Needs Moms category, where everyone remembers it for how little they remembered it before.
literally me
While we're sticking with a bit of Robin Williams here...
I don't know why people hated this when it came out. A very good dark comedy.
good movie but would the premise resonate with zoomies, who only think of cameras as their phones and only put their photos on facebook and have no real concept of privacy and regard voyeurism as an unspoken conduct?
I just rewatched this the other day, it was really good.
I wish irl homeless people were cool.
This was a better Man Who Killed Don Quixote than The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
Oh yeah. I totally forgot about this one. I remember liking it when it came out.
This movie reminds me of the summer I spent at my aunts ranch in Tennessee. She introduced me to all sorts of kino, including Demolition Man. I fricking hate California
Everyone needs to watch this movie immediately it's hidden kino. Comfy and horrifying at the same time
I only remember this because of the guy getting sliced in half by the revolving glass doors
1010 classics
>2022.... I am forgotten...
My mom loves this movie for some reason
It's a housewife power/sex fantasy.
- Set in romantic but stuffy French village
- You have a special competence / magic
- You melt people's hearts with that power
- A mysterious hot man sweeps into town for a romance
I keep recommending this. Nobody watches it.
Solid flick too. Kim B's a deadset cutie.
This man has handled guns in at least a dozen movies.
I never remembered the name but the plot synopsis sure sounds familiar.

It's a solid movie
If you like coming of age movies set in just post-colonial Africa.
think they were called 'shanghai noon' and 'shanghai knight' in american releases but yeah both were really good. they were just under the shadow of the more quotable rush hour movies. also shanghai knights was cias first significant role afaik

This is a fun little comedy
This film is amazing, but it hurts so much to watch. Really well done, though.
watched this during lockdowns. expected to be disappointed but it was really good. think irish humor just doesnt translate perfectly into american settings, strangely. alternatively:
kind of hated that one.
Wasted cast. Great slo mo of wet t shirt Abbie Cornish though.
just rewatched that. great film. one of ridley scott's best.
It's ok.
Another "it's ok" tier movie
spoiler, sean bean dies
The produce on this planet is amazing
I watched this for the first time a few months ago. It's alright. Kind of a One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest meets Forrest Gump meets Close Encounters
ending was so shit that he just let that b***h go
very good film that i rarely see people mention today unless there's discussions about lawyer movies
isnt this considered the classic twist ending type movie? its good. thought it was pretty popular though,
i don't think so, it's not on most 90s must-see lists and it's generally not a movie seen by people nowadays
it's probably something everybody that was alive then watched when it came out but it's lost all popularity since
shame because edward norton's performance is kino
somebody at Warner Bros wants to make it forgotten
not even gosling threads mention this movie
why i don't know, it's really not bad at all, and potentially even great if it suits your tastes
Hopkins is in every movie holy shit. The tagline I just saw for this movie on a poster was
>I SHOT MY WIFE... PROVE IT
haven't heard of it but want to check it out eventually
Detective stories are rarely remembered, even when done good.
everyone remembers this kino
It would be considered "problematic" by today's standards.
>it's really not bad at all
It's an average crime drama with good performances, basically an inferior version of Lincoln Lawyer
Why can't we have more of these?
Critics wrote it off as a Tarantino rip-off, but it's absolute kino
Named after a good Zevon song aswell
Didn't know about this, thanks. It is a good song so far
Tarantino actually praised 8 million ways to die and To Live and Die in L.A. which are similar.
never seen this since the cinema. weird considering how much playtime the rest of his movies get
Might be Peter Jackson's best but nobody talks about it
Speaking of problematic 90s kino
