She seems pretty wholesome last time I watched you sure you just don't like her because she's a bigger girl? She seems like typical geek girl and just cares about fandom she does go on tirades sometimes but nothing as bad as any schizo tiktok girls or annoying journos.

I meant bigger as a nice way for chubby

I think they're just dull people that shouldn't be doing this every day.

I mean that's half of youtubers honestly they feel like bloggers that had to make the shift to me. But I guess because they aren't horrible I never had a problem with them.

She isn't on screen and has a thin cartoon version of herself so that's not the problem. Her sperging autism and constant Woo hoos are. Her personality is the same as those early 2000s lolsorandumb hot topic girls who worshipped GIR from Invader Zim. It's grating.

She really just seems happy and competent enough to run a company and help with art and writing. Really isn't she the ideal girl most Cinemaphileers gripe about being hard to find? She is super into comics and cartoons and toys. She seems to be a love and supportive wife and mother. She even is honest when her daughter likes shows she thinks are bad really never bothered me like a genuine 2001 girl as they are all now tiktokers and 100x cringier. But I will admit she does get super hype and it is cringe at times but she's at least honest I guess is what I respect. Idk why Cinemaphile gets really weird about hating on a happy fandom older couple that tend to agree or lean towards fans and what most of us agree on and aren't 100% one sided. You'd think they'd be Cinemaphile royalty lol

Sounds like between the show he was trying to run that got canned and the other comics he's been working on he's had a few other things to work on.

Plus it seems like he was upset that the physical versions of the original didn't sell as well as he hoped since it was available so easily electronically

Also weird for them to have such a weird guy on their show haven't watched clownfish in a while but they felt like a mostly wholesome anti current comics and cartoon lil channel. clownfish is an outrage farming channel. Not as blatant as some, but you can't make up bullshit like "according to an anonymous source that will never be revealed, He-Man gives up his job to his girlfriend who dumps him for another woman" and be taken seriously ever again. At least not by sane and rational adults. Good fit for Luke,

        Not a bad interview
It did toward the end feel like venting to people about your job at the end there, but I guess that was kinda the point

I did like the point about having hope for rising indie animation they had at the end
A lot of show are putting out a lot of higher level stuff in comparison to the mid 2000s newgrounds flash stuff that used to represent Indie animators

        >sane and rational adults
That feels like it's calling out most of the people on this site

Nope, they were completely and utterly wrong. They said Adam would stand aside (nope) to let Teela be He-Man (nope again), and Teela would be a lesbian (steee-rike three).
The most generous take is they saw a still of an episode with Teela standing next to Andra with no Adam in sight and they jumped to (clickbaity) conclusions.

They were anon, also it's common to not say sources it's just were used to people putting each other on blast now. Really it makes sense because usually our sources are friends or people that work at the company. It is dangerous though like how we sometimes have fake leakers and real leakers in fandom stuff here.

          Anonymous

It's not about being right, it's having the journalistic integrity to back up your statements. Your statements only matter if you have demonstrated the good practices in the collection and verification of those statements, this is what gives you credibility from some random stupid piece of shit who says random shit. It's the credibility that matters and it's the credibility that protects you even if your information is wrong. The right to cite anonymous sources is something that must be earned from a long proven record of information collection done in an ethical and competent manner, which means 99% of the time your information is good. Hot takes and speculating on shit is 99% bullshit and 1% of the time they accidentally guess something right or just parrot something from someone who is credible.

            Anonymous

But haven't they been proven right many times, like they even had someone leak them a pilot of HSG. But they retracted it so the leaker wouldn't get in trouble and they were on the money and had screening screenshots. Probably why they lean to the not naming my sources thing now because companies really will go full scorched earth on any informant.

      Because it's gotten too unmanly

Neoptism put unskilled people with personal agendas in charge of million dollar shows. These shows were not profitable and now networks will not green light new shows or spend money on shows. The industry is now full of people who can only get works if they know somebody who's hiring.

Pen Ward hired Rebecca Sugar for Adventure Time but was too much of a b***hmade beta male to keep her in line and she hired her tumblr friends who excluded anyone who didn't get along with them, plus the executives didn't care because they all want to do live action and see animation as slop for children.

Now the union and an interest group called Women in Animation basically work together to exclude anyone even potentially "problematic" and workplace personality conflicts can escalate into you being drummed out of the legacy industry.

He suffers from the same problem as Hirsch in that he doesn’t know when to shut the frick up. Also, 99% of the personality he has is simply crafted to piss people off. He’s a man pushing 50 who still acts like a 13 year old troll.

This doesn't make him look bad, this makes the industry he's critiquing look bad. if cartoons today were awesome and EVERYONE loved their career then YA HE'D BE THE IDIOT. but that's not the case. The industry is tanking and people are noticing. who the frick defends a sinking toxic corperate industry over an artist?

Great podcast, thanks. I agree with his perspective. I've always hated the California-centricity of the industry, and the tiny, incestuous art school/tumblr clique that is modern American animation manifestly hasn't produced anything of transcendent beauty for years.

When the best cartoon of the past ten years is an Australian furgay joint for babies and nothing you've done approaches it you know something's wrong.

Anyone read his Forsaken Gods comic?

      Anonymous

Yes. I think the story is competent enough, but there hasn't really been a set piece or a reveal that's been like, "wow, that was really exciting, I need to see where this goes!" Also, I think he needs to learn to condense his storytelling a bit more. The first volume's around 120 pages and I feel like only two things of note took place. He's thinking more like an animator where he should be thinking like a comic artist.

        Anonymous

Do you think its an editing problem?

I've seen processes from other storyboard artists that try to do comics. They tend to thumb out the story first in storyboard then slash 80% of it to bring it down to what would be the comic panels.

I feel like he's being vague about thing that I was most interested in, because I didn't really get the beef other people had with him earlier on, but I didn't get any details from his perspective either and it's frustrating to listen to.
