The show was a failure from the start, it only lasted so long because Netflix was desperate for this to be their game of thrones, it would have been cancelled after season 2, if not for their desperation.

Honestly Cavill was working hard, dandelion was pretty great, Freya did a decent job, the person in charge for casting the witches should be shot. But they were working with a horrible script so they were all doomed from the start.

They based the show on the books instead of the game.
The books aren't really that good in the first place.
Really mediocre slop, upstaged by the games.

They didn't care about either but it was cheaper for them to say books only, that way they could leech off the games success while only paying the author of the books.

Honestly it seems like they're just making this a fake controversy because they're about to axe the show and now they're setting the narrative that it was because chuds didn't like the new casting. So they're basically blaming the audience for the fact no one likes the writing. I'm willing to give him a try but my expectations are extremely low because of the showrunner, not Hemsworth.

From what I've read here, Cavill was upset with the show's creatives because of the direction the show had taken. All this shit gave me the impression that on the one hand, Cavill would be used as a scapegoat to justify the failure of the show by refusing to continue with that shit.On the other hand we have female showrunners and writers who deny responsibility for any failures committed.
Too bad because I like Henry and I like fantasy shit.

    >We skipped all the parts where they get close to each other and had the witch adopted mom try to sacrifice her for some reason btw, it's not in the books, we just put it in for no reason
    >Now they get seperated and don't meet back up until the end
    >Now, and literally just now, not at any other point, do we recast the monster slayer who's entire motive is to meet back up with witch and adopted girl
    >Even though they've now never shared a moment of screen time together and won't until the end of the series
    >Also we've covered 1 book and like 2 short stories in 4 seasons, we skipped one book entirely and made up a bunch of shit to fill in the rest
    >Now we have 2 seasons left to cover 4 books
    >Just give it a chance though
The Witcher is not an epic example of a franchise being mishandled like, say, the Halo show was. It's all very boring, very standard, very typical hatred of the source material and a delusional belief that the homosexual communist writers were making a better story. The only thing that makes the Witcher standout from other failed adaptations that go out with a whimper rather than a bang is the presence of Henry Cavill, who read the fricking books, played the fricking video games (which are a master class in how to do fanfiction well, probably why the author hates them), was liked by the author, and is widely considered the best part of the show. Cavill nailed Geralt. In fact, I think he's the one actor who was not miscast. He was a small hint of the show we could have gotten and, for it, the writers rebelled and fought him constantly, not hesitating to get rid of him. Their reward for doing this was widespread condemnation from the internet but the writers knew they'd done the "right thing" only for Wednesday to have the same shit happen, this time side with the actress and embarass the writers. Modern tv writers are morons and I hope they all lose their jobs to chatgpt.

I agree with this and I don't even like Henry Cavill or the Witcher games or the books. He just looked and sounded suitably bad ass and wielded a sword well. As someone who has no prior knowledge of the story I quite enjoyed season 1 because it was a solid D&D style fantasy adventure with a good lead. The follow up two seasons were extraordinarily shit, I really do not understand the thought process that went into the writing but they were just exemplars of everything wrong with 2020s TV and film.

The Witcher was a super popular Video game series based on a bunch of middling novels written by an angry butthole Russian dude.
Netflix wanted to make a show about it and Cavil approached them asking for the Titular role of Geralt of Rivia.
Unfortunately Netflix gave the showrunning job to a literal who, a nepoprostitute (husband is actually talented, she is not) . She proceeded to hire the worst writing team and casted the show terribly, the casting director even bragged about casting ugly women to "challenge" beauty standards. Imagine being that actress when you hear that shit.
The show started out OK, I'd rate the first season a 6 or 7. But it soon became evident that the writers and the producers weren't interested in making a good Witcher show, they just wanted to do checkbox progressivism. This is underlined by how they tried to get a spin off show, The Witcher: Blood Origin to replace it, only to fail spectacularly when everyone said it sucked and no one bothered to watch it.
Instead of learning from this failure, Lauren Hissrich and her flying monkeys wanted to blame Cavil and the male writers who were actually there to make a good witcher show. They attempted to slander/libel him in the press and Cavil finally said that he was done and quit. The show's ratings went with him, barely anyone bothered to watch season 3 after the news broke.
That's a QRD, there is a lot more bullshit to discuss but basically, a promising TV show with a decent start was destroyed because some israelite b***h's ego was writing checks her talent couldn't cash.

        >but it's not based on the game, it's based on the original books
        >show comes out, but it has nothing to do with the books either
        >Black person elves, poojeet sorceresses, and everyone is ugly except for the lead actor
        >lead actor gets fired
        >they recast him instead of cancelling the show

How about no, you self-centered c**t? You could have got Lauren Hissrich fired if you and the other cowardly c**ts on the show demanded she go and Cavil stay. You chose to help that israelite b***h. You get what you fricking deserve.

No. I have nothing against the guy or, really, any of the actors despite MANY of them being horribly miscast. This is a problem with the writers and the producers/creators working there. They are not interested in making a Witcher show. They clearly hate or is uninterested in the source material and really want to make something like "Game of Thrones" fan fiction.

I hate beating this dead horse, but Henry Cavill was the one guy that they had that brought *some* credibility to this shit show and they ran him off and treated him like shit.

    So frick off.

In Spartacus season, show lead Andy Whifield died and they had to replace him for season 2. The showrunners were put in a terrible situation and the new actor tried his best but was never going to be fully embraced by fans, and the show did suffer.

Now, rather than this situation being forced on them, the showrunners are choosing it.

The show is over. Your side characters are not going to carry it no matter how much you like think they're amazing women.

It's like recasting Xena. Showrunners in the 90s would have seen this for the disaster it is. These people did it to themselves.

Kek I remember that when Lucy Lawless was not available to film the series due to injuries from riding or whatever, the writers had to come up with a way to do the episodes without her. Xena episode is not why she died or whatever,And this, in the end I created a term which helped the series in the ratings.
It's funny how showrunners no longer do that, literally the main actor must carry the series on his shoulders.Damn, I can't imagine 24 without Kiefer Sutherland in it.
