FRICK GUNN

what's your ideal live action DC slate to get everyone into the universe?
>Superman trilogy with Luthor, Metallo and Brainiac
>Batman: adaptations of ASBaR, Red Hood and Killing Joke where he kills the Joker because crippling Babs and abusing Gordon is just too much
>Wonder Woman adaptations of Amazons Attack & OMAC project so we know she doesn't have a no kill rule.
>Teen Titans vs Slade. same members as the TTG cartoon, action movie with a lighter tone, no grimdark shit.
>Flash of Two Worlds movie, lite copy of No Way Home.
>ends with a big team up for a crisis on infinite earths movie, everything gets rebooted, some people survive, introduce more characters

DC had the chance to do it. This year the DCEU turns 10, the same amount of time Marvel had between Iron Man and Infinity War. And all WB has to show for it is mostly terrible movies that didn't connect to the audience. Now they want to do another 10 year plan...with a partial reboot...in an era where these movies are getting less popular unless they have massive gimmicks (Tobey and Andrew coming back for Spider-Man)

It just sounds like you're coping. There are some comics storylines that are either severely overrated (TKJ, Crisis, etc) or just don't translate well to a cinematic medium

I'm not the anon you're arguing with but this is exactly why we're in this mess already. For some reason a lot of the DC movies are gun jumping to the big stuff. Second movie is Batman versus Superman AND Wonder Woman AND cameos with the rest of the league AND Death of Superman already. Flash, rather than getting a movie to build his character or using any of his other stories or any of the rogues, goes straight to Flashpoint. Imagine of the Green Lantern movie gets announced and it's War of Light/Blackest Night as the very first thing they do.
Leave COIE off the table and give people a reason to actually give a shit about ONE version of these characters before you start throwing the multiverse out there in a hail mary.

While I don't have an entire slate planned out. I do have a complete idea of what I'd want to do with Batman. To me the dynamic of Batman and Robin is way more interesting then loner Batman. In my dream trilogy I'd want to explore Bruce and Dick's relationship. With both acting as main characters in a fricked up father and son dynamic. Seeing their rise as the dynamic duo. To the fall when Dick realizing that being around Bruce isn't healthy. Inbtween all this I'd throw in a Teen Titans film to show Dick gaining that needs for independence.

It is a direct continuation of The Suicide Squad(2020) and Peacemaker, so technically those are the first two installments of my universe. The rest are as follows:
    >The Calculator
Noah Kuttler is a down trotted supervillain wannabe who finally gets the fame he desperately desires after he (accidentally) kills The Joker. However it's a heavy price as he's now the #1 targeted criminal. Batman is convinced The Calculator is the one behind a horrible terrorist plot he's been uncovering.
    >Peacemaker Returns
Direct sequel to the show. Peacemaker is called back into action when revelations are made that a different monster from the Project Starfish incident was set loose and has been on a violent rampage ever since. He must battle his hallucinations of his dead dad and deepest personal issues to face up against this new monster. Ending scene is him bumping into the calculator while in a grocery store
    > post credits scene:
Peacemaker and Calculator are drinking beer, smoking weed, and partaking in general debauchery with various women. However an assassin unexpectedly attacks them. Peacemaker shoots them in the "no no square" in a drunken stupor. They demand answers and the assailant reveals they're part of "Operation Checkmate" before dying which leads to...
    >The Suicide Squad: Operation Checkmate
Former Task Force X members and anyone formerly associated with them are being hunted down and killed left and right. Amanda Waller is facing extreme criminal charges that can put her away for life. She wants 0 people available to testify against her and has deployed a secretive "Operation Checkmate" to deal with all the people who know too much. All former members must team up, settler their grudges and figure out what this Operation Checkmate is and who is next. They find out Bruce Wayne is one of CM's next targets, for some reason...

    Wave 1:

Superman. He makes his debut and battles Metallo who is created by Lex Luthor. The birth of the modern superhero, the first since the JSA in World War 2.

Batman: Batman clears out the mob, but in the process gives rise to the Joker, the first modern supervillain.

Wonder Woman: Myth and magic returns to the world of man. Wonder Woman has to stop Circe from ushering in a new dark age ruled by Gods.

Flash: The new age of super science, and what it means for mankind. Villain is Gorilla Grodd, who has been twisted and experimented on by STAR Labs and desires revenge against humanity with an army of apes.

Green Lantern. John Stewart unwillingly becomes Earth's emissary to the larger universal community and must advocate for them when Mongul signals his intent to butcher the planet for his own ends.

Justice League: Goaded on by Joker, Lex Luthor forms the Secret Society. Superman and Batman scramble to rally the heroes of the rest of Wave 1 in a battle that will define the future of humanity.

    Tentative Wave 2:
    Aquaman
    Teen Titans

    >Batman & Robin movie (again, we're already getting this)
    >Wonder Woman movie set in the modern day (can't believe we haven't gotten one yet)
    >The Flash movie (non-groomer edition)
Green Lantern movie (either Stewart, Mullein, or Cruz)
    >Aquaman movie (one where Arthur and Mera actually have chemistry, please)
    >Vixen movie
    >Zatanna movie
    >Justice League

I'll be waiting for my cheque in the mail WB

Smartest line-up of films ITT. Good job, fren. However, I'm gonna tell you what a producer would say if your post is what they were given.

      1. We're uncertain if a Vixen film can hold its own. Who else will you include in her story? Maybe we should make her co-star with Zatanna and really hone-in a super-heroine buddy-cop movie. Either way, we'd want Justice League to come out before these two star in a venture as top-billing. That way, we should have more money to lose if introducing lesser-known super-heroes costs us more than we'd like it to.

      2. As satisfied as we were with our Aquaman film starring Jason Mamoa, we don't know if we've enough good will with audiences to see another retelling of Aquaman and Mera's first encounter all over again, regardless of if its a retold origin story or in media res. Perhaps we could slide an introduction to Atlantis in the Wonder Woman movie?

      3. We are scared of Green Lantern. We don't get it, we don't like it, and we think it's risky. It's too expensvive for a mini-series, too expansive for a single movie, and too nerdy for even "casual" geekster audiences to want to dive into. On top of this, every other televison or cinematic venture of the Green Lantern ip has failed us tremendously, we feel. Let's hold this one off until we're really sure.

Now imagine fifteen more questions in an e-mail. Not too hard to work around if you're trying to make these movies, right? Well, then you have 12 other brain-dead and out-of-touch elitists producers who've been doing this since the 90's with more e-mail with similar dozens of questions. That's how Warner Brothers keeps fricking up over and over again. That's how shitty line-ups keep happening.

Green Lantern is getting a True Detective-style series on HBO Max with both John and Hal as the leads.

Shit, I forgot about that. Still, it'd taken them to this point to go through with it, and making it like True Detective is in attempt to make it digestible. Not that this is a bad thing!

Here's hoping they mean S1 with the literary references to vague cosmic horrors creeping in at the corners as the leads try to untangle the mystery of the murder cult at Carcosa. And not, you know, just using it as a short hand for detective fiction.

They used art from GL: Earth One to promote it. They might draw from that for the show.

Gunn cited the New Frontier as one the comics they're taking inspiration for the DCU so my theory is that the terrifying mystery that Hal and Stewart are going to investigate in Lanterns is going to be The Center.

No origin stories, JL is already established and they all know each other its just about everyone dealing with their individual problems.
Thats my first slate I guess beyond that if its successful then start adding more characters

Flash is too big for tv. He works better for summer blockbusters. Give some other character a show.

I dont think Flash is that popular, I just wanted the trinity to have the big budget movies while Green Lantern, Aquman and Flash who are less popular get to be more fleshed out as characters and people get more familiar with them and their supporting cast over time in a show format
if I was choosing based off who fits having a show or movie then I would've given Batman a show because all we ever get is one where he is either dead or absent

Flash and Aquaman are way too CGI heavy to do as TV shows without it looking terrible.

They used art from GL: Earth One to promote it. They might draw from that for the show.

Wasn't GL: Earth One set on OA? They said the TV show will be set on Earth.

Although not a fan, flash was objectively pretty fricking decent as a tv show before they dropped the ball so I beg to differ. And a new flash series is gonna have a much bigger budget with a lot less episodes.

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman is all you need for movies with a JL event being theatrical, everyone else should just stick to streaming at best
I hate the oversaturation of giving every character a series or movie then sloppily trying to glue it all together like what the MCU is doing so I would make DC the opposite of that
Only focus on JL members people know while everyone else can be a cameo or pointing red arrow at circle easter egg reference

I would start with Justice League and Teen Titans movies. The whole “you need build up is dumb”. The Avengers was the first MCU they say for most people. BVS and JL failed because they were bad. The Genre is already saturated no one is going to bother waiting. As for Titans, it’s the perfect time to cash in on the nostalgia for 2000s series and the GO! for Zoomers. I would also do characters the DCEU didn’t focus on or didn’t use like Superman, Green Lantern, Zatanna, Constantine, Green Arrow, an actual Flash movie (starring Wally) and characters with huge potential like Vixen, Static and the New Gods. Wonder Woman gets a reboot movie later on, Batman only appears in JL movies to not hurt the Reeves films and people aren’t going to watch an Aquaman movie without Momoa or Wan so there’s no point using him.
