This is the most deserving cancellation in tv history

      I agree.

      Sigh. S2 vaporware.

I can't even totally blame people for this one. It's a drag for like 3-4 hours of intro episodes before it finally gets good + it's Korean.

I've never used netflix or even been to anyone's house who uses netflix.
Just exactly how many (new/original) shows do they run?
Seems like I'll see a post for a netflix show I've never heard of being cancelled at least once a week.

Pretty based show. They were already using the algo bs about only doing two seasons though.

I read somewhere that netflix has in their contracts that after 3 seasons or so people get payed more. So they just cancel the shows no matter of how popular they are, because they dont want to pay. If the shows are popular they create a new spinoff thing instead

What was the official reason for canceling it? Low viewership?

It was really fucking expensive IIRC.

My personal conspiracy theory for why it was really cancelled is because it could be interpreted as a "white savior" story, but I have no evidence for it.

It's funny to think they just spent $200 million on The Gay Man.

I remember them saying it was because it was 'too expensive' to shoot. With yhe money they have now they could easily make more seasons. I still watch Marco Polo and I'm still mad season 3 will never happen.

    >it's a Marco invents the trebuchet to help the mongols bring down the Song dynasty episode

I thought that was way over the top when I first saw it but apparently Marco really does claim he introduced trebuchets to Yuan China. Definitely they got them from further west, though probably from Persians. And mongols did for sure have troubles with sieges.

Also shocking was the alpha queen mongol warrior woman that will only lay with a guy that beats her in wrestling and is undefeated is another based on actual historical accounts. Almost the assuredly the real story must have involved more post fact historiography or political game throughs but still. I thought it was them being proto-pozzed but no.

Uknown if asian girls had white fever in Marco's day however.

Keep in mind that there is some doubt whether Polo's account is accurate, we don't have a lot of ways to verify it and there are some historians (though not the majority of them) that argue he made everything up based on accounts of China he got from Persian traders who traveled to Italy from China.

He was the first European to go to China is what he did. He was a brave Italian explorer. And in this board, Marco Polo is a hero. End of story.

        >Uknown if asian girls had white fever in Marco's day however
He would have been a fairly tall, exotic, foreign visitor to the court, in service to the Khan of Khans. He would have pulled unbelievable amounts just by being different and therefore interesting.

Keep in mind that there is some doubt whether Polo's account is accurate, we don't have a lot of ways to verify it and there are some historians (though not the majority of them) that argue he made everything up based on accounts of China he got from Persian traders who traveled to Italy from China.

Some doubt, but there’s also plenty of accurate detail in it that he likely couldn’t have gotten without going there.

      >the book: he trafficked in warmachines

Hmm. I think this is a level of historical inaccuracy that I can accept. I might watch this show

This one genuinely pissed me off. Haven’t gotten into a single Netflix show since it’s cancellation(besides Narcos). Netflix is the new Fox in terms of canceling a bunch of shows before they even find footing.

Let's be honest, it got cancelled cause it featured a pretty white guy going to a foreign non-white people and doing important history-changing stuff for them and having their women lust over him (even cucking their heir to the throne).

The guy who played Marco is Italian and speaks with an Italian accent, his choice of roles is probably pretty limited when it comes to American productions.
