S2 was probably greenlit already, they just want to "build hype".

Building hype usually means they “confirm” the second season early on during the premiere. Since a lot of viewers will then see that as a sign of it being good and worth long term commitment.

Not wavering around for ages. This is long past any normal renewal date. Gaiman even talked about how it could continue at a different streaming platform which isn’t promising

Gaiman may be lying, he doesn't seem like a person you can trust.

No one works for free. If the production companies are still putting money into then they reasonably believe that they're getting renewed or picked up by another distributor.

They might be on contract for time worked not just covering the first seasons episodes. So they can’t just not work because they haven’t been renewed. Might as well get a head start on visuals for season 2 since they have the script and know what will be included. Worst case is just it never gets used since they aren’t renewed, they still got paid

Haha yeah why would anyone do that?

It's kinda strange how in one tweet he'll brag about how the show is the number one and super popular and then in another tweet beg people to stream the show because it's future is uncertain.

So does he think the artists that drew his book don't matter?

Novels are one thing, comics are another. I hate when the homosexuals ignore the visual side of the comic, which is as important, if not more, in some ways at least. A sign that they don't actually give a shit about comics nor artists and just want to wank their writings

it seems like approach is to tell fans there is no season 2 to drum up an online uproar. despite the pocket of people who hated colored people in the show, it was widely appreciated and had decent ratings for netflix - so chances are they want an audience to be there when season two is announced in order to get more seasons out of this title

      “Decent ratings” is bad.

It cost 15 million dollars an episode. 165 million for all of season 1

And the drop off in viewers who never got past the halfway point was massive. Hence Gaiman begging people to finish watching it

      >had decent ratings for netflix
With that logic Dark Crystal should get its 2nd Season, far more popular show.

Most of the appeal of Sandman was in the gorgeous art.

Nothing I saw in the promotional materials put me in mind of the beautiful comic art of Sam Kieth & Mike Dringenberg.
Sandman looks like any other streaming fantasy show.

Ah, the appeal of THE writer centric comic was the art.

Yes. He wrote good scenes but the art is what made them great.

People have constantly shitted on The Sandman art for years (some for silly reasons) and seen not as a proper collaboration when it's so writer centric with the artists constantly changing. Sam Kieth being only 5 issues and Mike Dringenberg 12 (8 as a penciller).

        hey, it's a visual medium
but the writing is pretty good too, and it shows in the tv series, I just wish the visuals were as carefully handed as the writing. The effects are definitely good but they're not visually interesting or distinctive enough, they have this plain kinda flat look at times, Sandman show should be doing differently from every other show on tv

this, a Sandman TV show should look different from everything else on TV, just like the comic looked like no other graphic novel at the time
