Correct. Adding more people to anything dilutes it and makes it worse. There is zero benefit to a user of anything in having to divide the resources amongst more people; doubly so when that resource is technically illegal and exists in a tentative state.

Since we're on Cinemaphile, I'd compare your POV to the person in every zombie or disaster movie that lets in the person with a bite or the infiltrator of the enemy faction. Your intentions might be good but you're short sighted and your actions are a threat to the people around you, or, in this much less serious scenario of trying to get Trailer Boys seasons, a threat to the sites that host it. That you'd even ask at all and think it's no big deal is proof enough that you aren't responsible enough to manage the information you're seeking.

The people who make the ads for mobile games are usually a completely different group from the people who made the game. It's why often the add has nothing to do with the game, the game devs simply buy an add for their game from a company specialized in making attention-grabbing adds and unfortunately the most successful adds tend to be the brainrot ones.

the only brand names i would even have a chance of remembering is a product i bought(in local store) and it actually worked
i only buy hienz ketchup now since all the cheap brands i tried over the past 15 years were shit, one plastic bottle broke from a little bang against the counter
          ill only buy frenchs mustard
im not even a consumer but ill buy what evers cheapest and if it breaks you find another cheap product, theres almost always something cheaper and better then any known name brand
like i said theres no way im gonna buy something based on an ad, if its not in a store nearby ill go without or find equivalent that is in local store
im prolly an outlier tho since theres very few/little things i need to buy in my life

How is YouTube not profitable as it is? It surely can’t just be that the server costs, infrastructure maintenance costs, and all that other shit costs more than the revenue YouTube generates can it? And if the costs are so expensive surely they can find ways to cut costs, maybe stop paying your ceos and executives so much? Maybe stop wasting money on useless employees like all your DEI employees and shit like that? Maybe stop wasting money on events, cons, and other special things they try to do that don’t make money and no one cares about anyway? And if you’re still operating at a loss how about just charge uploaders /streamers a fee/subscription to stream/upload. Surely the subscription wouldn’t cost that much, and the higher tier subscription price would allow you to upload more content and take up more service space so small channels and amateurs who don’t use that much anyway won’t be priced out and the big channels that make a lot of money can easily afford the subscription. Whatever I don’t really care, if they add ads I’ll either find a way to block them and if it becomes too troublesome I simply will stop watching YouTube, there are plenty of other bread and circuses out there that for the few YouTube channels whose videos I actually care about and want to see I’ll have no problem torrenting them or watching them reuploaded on another site.

          Anonymous

If they cut costs for YouTube, it would look something like NicoNico. Slow as molasses to load a single few minutes of video, extremely restricted bandwidth, daily data caps for each user. It’s truly awful. NicoNico’s premium plan is basically just standard free YouTube.

I’ve paid for YouTube premium ever since they killed all ways to play videos in the background, including third party clients. YouTube replaces Spotify, israeliteflix, and Audible all in one. Plus they even support 3D, 5.1 encoded audio, and 4k UHD now. It’s seriously a good value.

while it's not as bad as getting exploited directly on youtube, someone could've intentionally or unintentionally clicked on it and then gotten compromised if they were running the right browser, and according to their stats plenty of people did. also there's plenty of ads now for free software bundled with adware (i would see the "download VLC now" ones that didn't go to videolan.org)

I've never cared about sponsorships since videomakers do need some money to live and at least the sponsorship goes directly to them. I'd rather watch a 20 second Raid Shadow Legends clip than see my favorite small youtuber had to quit and get a real job. Youtube ads are moronic however. Creators see basically nothing, and there's no way to know if some company claimed the video and they're the ones getting the ad money instead.

For a little while, Youtube ads were almost reasonable. Letting you skip after 5 seconds was really good. It gave you enough time to see what the product was, but didn’t feel torturous.
Now I don’t even know why the little timer exists. It often says “skip after X seconds,” but then you can’t. There’s just another ad. And it’s almost never 5 seconds anymore, it’s 30 on average.
Just make it so the ads aren’t insufferable and people won’t even feel the need to click them.

fine with me. i could go the whole rest of my life never hearing again about how an insurance company could help me save a few hundred dollars a year thanks to their billion dollar a year advertising budget

Friendly reminder to also get DeArrow, made by the same jeet that made SponsorBlock. Replaces clickbait thumbnails and titles.

what if instead of forcing ads on viewers youtube gave 10% of the ad revenue to the people who viewed the ads? they could even send out dumbass plaques for 1 million ad minutes viewed and such. reddit would eat that shit up

I would sooner execute an advertiser than a serial killer. All advertisers must hang for creating something objectively horrible for nothing more than money.

sorry but they know that and unskippable eye tracking ads are less than 5 years away.
also on the horizon is AI built into hardware to prevent any illicit viewing.
we'll need to learn the shit out of computers again like its 1993 or give up media entirely

Honestly that feels like a good thing. It will revert to the late 90s internet dynamic except the normalgays will be trapped on the normalweb instead of offline altogether. Autismos will have our own OS's and browsers.

Why doesn't YouTube let you choose the ads they serve you? Use a tag system like steam does to block shit you're not interested in. Why do I have to watch shit about alcohol and gambling? I will never gamble and I don't like alcohol. It's pointless trying to sell that cancer to me.

Imagine being at the end of your life about to die, knowing that you gave away a full month or more of your life to advertisements for products you don't want and would never buy. Two months outside of a hospital bed dying of cancer or whatever lost for someone else's benefit. Couldn't be me.
