Good OVA series that tends to get lost under the same talking points of "nihilistic shit that's good but shit is shit and makes no sense". Has really good art, animation and atmosphere and is more coherent than it's made out to be.
Doesn't help matters how squeamish weebs are now a days. How else do you explain the reaction to the Terraformars anime, and how it was bowdlerised for syndication (pic related). Just imagine Genocyber getting a reboot these days?
Would look like shit. I've noticed "normies" have a more positive reception to Genocyber but it's never perceived beyond being a series of disjointed vignettes. Ironically the same people think Evangelion is full of biblical imagery and is not a big reference to Ultraman.
Evangelion is your typical wacky Japanese cartoon being wacky. There is nothing biblical about it. And yeah, Anno's words is the canon, since he created Evashit after all. It is something you have no power to deny.
>There is nothing biblical about it.
he might not understand christianity, and he may have done it 'for the atmosphere', but religious crap litters Evangelion.
The following things are not sheer coincidence, nor did Anno create them :
the sefirot
the kaballah
the crucifix
the angelic characteristics from scripture
jungian psychology
daddy issues
ultraman
godzilla

If it's so obvious stop b***hing about eva/anno for a change.
The TerraforMARS anime dates back to 2014, seems like weebs aren't as squeamish as they used to be. Mainstream anime is still borderline ecchi in terms of female characters seem to be designed by coomers. Female character designs back in the 80s and 90s were somewhat tame by today's standards... for the most part. For example Elaine and Diana from Genocyber were fairly average looking (due in part to the fairly realistic art style), as oppose to the drop dead gorgeous waifu material that exist in part to sell moe statues. But then again, Genocyber came out in a pre-eiken, pre-evangellion, pre-Hatsune miku world, before this whole waifu armsraces started, before every mangaka tried to compete with who had the waifurific waifu. If Genocyber had a reboot, imagine weebs having Elaine and/or Diana as their waifu, having Elaine and/or Diana as their profile pic, having Elaine and/or Diana body pillows, cooming to Genocyber hentai?
Funny how Tony Takezaki moved on from the 90's edge and does really good satire gag manga. Geno Cyber and A.D. Police are still brilliantly drawn, Takezaki is a great mangaka. They fall into the same camp as Kia Asamiya's manga though as far as having nonsense action movie plots and wtf dialogue.
Frick your reboots. Also, the wienerroach manga was trash. At least Geno Cyber was well drawn.

Yes, it was pretty good, but unfortunately the appreciation of it will likely wane more and more, as it proceeds into obscurity.
>the same people think Evangelion is full of biblical imagery
But it is, you'd be a fool to claim otherwise. >inb4 anno screencap, anno interview

Neurotic homosexuals. he made a good post.
Did you know that it’s a sign of low intelligence to not be able to understand hypotheticals?

I think weebs have only gotten more and more squeamish, and more and more sexually pathetic. Sex and violence are usually opposed in anime, most anime don’t have bare-chested women combined with massive amounts of gory violence at the same time. That’s why the meme about “le gory violent sexual 80s-90s ovas” exists at all.
Weebs are dead and ironic twitter anime avatar people are not a substitute, the anon talking "waifu appeal" doesn't know what he's looking on about either.
They did project A-Ko, so I think it's just not finding the proper masters. Japan, especially for silly OVAs tend to lose those things. Japan is also humid and has tons of earthquakes and fires too.
Probably explains why the Dunbine OVAs didn't get a DVD release. Sunrise probably pulled a BBC in the wake of Japan's economic bubble bursting, wiping the masters to the Dunbine OVAs, and re-used the tapes for the later episodes of 0083. Either that, or earthquakes, tsunamis, and/or nuclear disasters.
OVAs are done on proper film not magnetic tapes that can be wiped and re-used. So either people outright lose them, or they have degraded and fall apart.
Never mind not getting translated, Takatou Rui straight up retired because his family found out he was drawing ecchi comics with healthy doses of ryona
I don't know, maybe his parents would rather him reboot Genocyber than make any more ecchi manga. > Takatō elaborated that he had been planning the retirment since last year, and it is due to circumstances at his home making it difficult to constantly draw manga about "boobs and sex. >Regarding Booty Royale: Never Go Down Without a Fight!, Takatō stated that if the situation in his household changes, he might consider continuing the manga.
To be fair, Genocyber was made from the ground up for a western audience.
Not much actually,
Thanks.
was just a cameo appearance. Besides, Violence Jack is more likely to get a new anime than Genocyber. There is a Violence Jack reboot in serialization after all.

fairy dreaming on the ost is nice 80's cheese. i like it
Both Fairy Dreaming and Instead of Standing Here Alone were performed by WIZZ-KISS (a.k.a. WIZ·KISS)
The only other song WIZZ-KISS ever performed (that we know of) was Cinderella Nanka Tsumaranai from Scramble Wars: Tsuppashire! Genom Trophy Rally.

Like clockwork. Stay mad Cinemaphileutist.
Just wait for Evangellion or Genocyber to get a Netflix live-action adaptation.
It ain't happening, thank Adam.

how do these end up existing at all
are they just made to sell rebranded fraudulent product?
It's "ironic" bootleg shit.
and stop posting this in every thread too
you homosexuals would rather sperg out than actually contribute
I already did contribute, I'll leave you to work it out.
O.K. this is getting ridiculous. Can we please calm down?
Wasn't there a Genocyber resin kit back in the day?
This gonna get remastered in HD any time soon?
I don't know. Genocyber recently got an SDBD release. Either the masters were lost, or Discotek was too cheap to remaster the classic OVA.
They did project A-Ko, so I think it's just not finding the proper masters. Japan, especially for silly OVAs tend to lose those things. Japan is also humid and has tons of earthquakes and fires too.

Unfortunately, you are correct about the masters being lost. Here is a confirmation from Justin Sevakis himself:

God even the way he writes forum posts is insufferable.
Diane, Elaine, and Genocyyber all make cameos in the latest battle angels manga
Post more.

bloody hell
At least apparently this particular one was finished
There goes our hopes (or fears) of a Genocyber reboot, down the drain.
What does Takato Rui have to do with a Genocyber reboot?
I don't know, maybe his parents would rather him reboot Genocyber than make any more ecchi manga.

I like that they kept the fact that Elaine act like a wild child/ animal
