Make me wonder how profitable was the Gran Turismo movie.

F1 cars and tracks are expensive to begin with. Brad Pitt ain't cheap either. But $300 millions is definitely too much. To put that into perspective, Top Gun Maverick budget was about $150 millions and it featured real fighter jets.

They filmed a scene at the diner near where I used to live named Papas Diner and 5 days later it burned down. If you see Papas Diner in the film, know that it is no longer standing.

        Anonymous

Rush was, really good movie, but that made like 100m box office on a 30-40m budget, I have no idea how they expect this thing to turn a profit or why the budget is so high.

Gladiator II will be the true bomb of the century because it will actually get a wide release and won't just end up on streaming
When something gets a wide release in theaters there's way more of a risk factor nowadays because no one goes to the movies anymore

marketing, plus theatres take their cut

      Anonymous

Because 300 mil is just the production budget. They spend a ton more on marketing. Additionally, when you see a movie made for example 500 mil at the box office, a big ass chunk of that money goes to the theaters.

Out of 10 films reported to be the biggest bombs of the last 2 years by Deadline, the AVERAGE additional expenses incurred for marketing, interest, distribution, overhead, video, and residuals amounted to an additional 86.9% of the reported budget. At $300 mil, that means they will spend an additional $260 mil on this film, totaling a $560 million dollar investment. Seeing as how the average studio take from worldwide box office hovers around the 50% mark, but can be as low as 43%, that means this film will need to make $1.120 BILLION dollars in worldwide box office just to break even.

americans don't care about f1. interesting that this film releases as soon as f1 tries seriously expanding into the american market though. there's probably a lot of f1 money put into this as marketing for f1 expansion into the usa so i doubt they care if they lose money on this if they can grow the f1 fan base

The original avatar was $230 million, and way of water was $450 million

And that’s with their cutting edge CGI that James Cameron wanted

The Mario movie was also $100 million

There is no way a racing movie needs to cost this much, I assume most of it is A-tier actor salaries

F1 cars aren't cheap, if they're filming with real ones for any extended period of time, and not just carts with replica bodies on top all the time, that would push the budget up massively as well.

        >F1 cars aren't cheap
It is just an expensive add for the F1 races, they just had to get the teams involved, Hamilton is producing this shit so at least Mercedes seems to be interested.

Oh man I can't wait to see that scene where Brad Pitt has to overtake another car and it's really difficult, then the camera pans to his hands where we see him shift up and he gains a massive boost of speed and overtakes the other car! That's a good trick.

Also I wonder if the neekeri will pull The Move on his rivals like Lewis
