People outside the black community don't realize how influential the NOI still is. Farrakhan is quietly the semi-leader of black America but he hates the israelites so of course we can't have that.

Fun fact; the NOI has been using Scientology tactics for years now under Farrakhan. They even consider L Ron Hubbard to be "one of the good ones". It's led to a rift in the Nation, and members have left. That show Leah Remini had about Scientology had an episode dedicated to this.

MLK's "I have a dream" speech famously stated his wish that black and white kids would one day be able to join hands as brothers and sisters. Meanwhile, the Nation of Islam people wanted self-reliance and separation from white people, so that black people could be independent and strong on their own. Malcolm X travelled in Africa to establish connections; his end goal was for black people to return to Africa. He believed that was the best way to reach self-sufficience. So yeah, MLK and NOI had the opposite goals of integration vs. separation.

There was a conflict within Nation of Islam, too. Malcolm X and Elijah Muhammad ultimately found out they couldn't get along. Malcolm X chose to split up and he started his own mosque. The Nation of Islam had such a big grudge with him that they eventually murdered him.

Interestingly, it seems like Malcolm X started to see some things from MLK's point of view close to the end of his life. He mentioned there was this one time when some random white girl approached him out of a desire to help the black cause, but he coldly rejected her. She was so upset that she cried. He was so troubled by this incident that he remembered it for years. He ended up regretting how he had treated this girl. See:
        https://www.malcolm-x.org/docs/int_parks.htm

The political views of Malcolm X evolved throughout his life. If it had not been cut off by the assassination, I think his views would've continued evolving. It would've been interesting to see what kinds of things he would've said at a later age, after gaining further life experience.

what the frick, for a while i thought NoI was some fringe level stuff
does the modern NoI still have the 'verse of yakub' or whatever they call it?

NoI's core base of power is in Chicago and spreads out among the National Black Community from there, loosing alot of influence by the time you get to Atlanta, and its mostly a college kid looking for meaning type of religion on the west side of The Rockies.
From what I know Yakub is more fringe these days but NoI is more a beast of political power than religion these days.

That's how all nationalists are. Nationalism is a hard binary of 'with us and approves of everything we do without question' vs 'wanted to eradicate us from the earth and from history.'
Women, people who think, people who aren't eternally online, people who want to live their own lives as they see fit, and people with stuff to do in a day are dangerous to nationalism.

You'll notice the black men in this comic are string beans and big headed freaks, while the white men are muscle bound aryan supermen.
Just as how Asian incels call Asian women 'white mens prostitutes.'
Just as how Conversatives get outed for touching kids and hiring gay hookers.
Just as how comfortable white women with nothing to offer the world protect their imaginary societal positions.

Nationalism is an narcissistic obedience fetish for people with nothing deeper to be.

question though, how do they parse the fact that muslims enslaved africans for countless years more than the atlantic slave trade went on and did in many cases far worse things to their slaves. Do they just ignore that?

Arab slavery has always been ignored, so as slavery in every other context. French serfdom? Not real slavery. Russian serfdom? Not real slavery. Mesoamerican slavery? Not real slavery. The only 'slavery' that has ever existed is the one fought over in the 1860's, I wish I was joking.

She's definitely a slave, but this is the flip-side of the issue: not all slavery, nor slave owners, are the same. We also see that Tade, another slave, is not only ignorant of her circumstance in that page, but in general gives no shits about being a slave because her life was so incredibly terribly before.

The important part here is that buying and owning people is completely normal and no one really sees much problem with it. And Izutsumi's slavery is even kind of a gag: Shuro's father bought her primarily to try and get in good with his mistress. Anyway. Izutsumi is never treated by anyone as odd for seeking freedom either (except the naive Tade) and, as a nod to Shuro's personality, he doesn't spend much effort to try and secure her. But the important part here is it's part of the world of the manga. We have various moments where our super moral, heroic MCs reveal they're hideous racists who don't have any problem killing their neighboring tribe on sight because there's long running tensions between their groups. Or how the entire cast takes ages to treat Chilchuck as an adult. So on and so forth.

And people have a hard time conceptualize this and just go "ugh, it's not really slavery!"

NTA but I googled it and I found some videos on youtube. The myth has some variations, in one of them Yakub dies before creating white people, and let the disciples finnish his job. One of the results are asians, americans and some other race I don't remember.

Funny thing about that, apparently Asians were considered one of the “Black Peoples.”

first, do you have a source?
and second (if true), the black kids would be removed from the black culture of being raised by a single mother which is extremely damaging to kids of all races
          https://ifstudies.org/blog/less-poverty-less-prison-more-college-what-two-parents-mean-for-black-and-white-children

Your source says that being raised by two parents is better than being raised by one parent, and that being raised by one biological parent and one step parent is between the two. It didn't collect any data about Black children raised by White parents from birth as compared to White children raised by White parents from birth.
Here's one that did that: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0190740912003672

            >Don't try to apply logic to any extremist beliefs. Try asking a far Right racist why black kids raised by white parents perform as well as an average white kid sometime.
I mean that's not making your point as well as you'd like, in that it seems to prove that having black parents is a large part of the problem.

Correct, but it's more that black culture is the problem. Nazis will tell you that there's no saving the blacks because they're genetically inferior, but it's been shown that they perform as well as anybody else when you take them out of the ghetto.

Yes everyone is going to go all “Poe’s Law” (“buuut there really are people this crazy!”). Look, once things get to the level of troll-radar tripping batshit on the Internet, they are more likely to be bullshit if some kind (satire or trolling or rage bait) than they are to be real. It’s not IMPOSSIBLE, it’s just unlikely.

If this was a sincere comic by a black artist, there would be tons of online gossip about that artist like with Chris-chan. Chris-chan is the rarer exception where the person has some kind of mental condition or disorder and really is that weird, but those cases are exceptions.

The comic itself might be a troll but the NoI is real and is one of the primary religions for black people in the U.S. Like everyone is pretty sure Kendrick Lamar is one and the majority of intellectual blacks anywhere north of Atlanta at the very lest come from a culture where they are semi-prevalent.

From what I understand the group is a pretty fringe cult to begin with and the Yakub shit is even more fringe. There seem to be more people who genuinely believe in Lord Xenu, which is basically what this story is, a “religion” that a con man huckster came up with. What I mean is that this comic itself is a parody of the Yakub story in the vein of Chick Tracts, which were sincere batshittery.

I don’t think the existence of a small cult who have crazy beliefs says any more about black people in general than Lord Xenu does about white people. That some rap artists might actually buy what some cult leaders say is similar to actors buying into Scientology, I think the entertainment industry is rife with drugs and mental health problems. But this doesn’t even seem as genuinely widespread as some other bizarre cult Scientology or Mormon beliefs.

NoI is in this weird place where its fringe in the greater American cultural sphere but well known in the Black Sphere. It also again has a lot of power projection despite being relatively small because of the prevalence of its members in Black Academia.

I mean the nation has a point in their favor for that in my opinion. Don't believe "equal rights" will ever be given to anyone except at the end of a weapon. On the other hand MLK actually saw the problem in a macro sense, that it isn't white/black but rich/poor and how those divisions are applied to society to keep people complacent.

Yeah people really don't realize how terrible the deeds the Alphabet agencies get up to. If you read through MKULTRA and think they aren't still doing the exact same shit or worse you just ain't a smart person. Then there's provable shit they did to King and all the popular movments of the 60s, the black panthers all of it. It paints a very bleak picture of what state power is really about and it ain't keeping the citizen safe. Hell 2008 and it's popular protests should tell you that but people still simp for corporate control and laugh about the palestine protests being broken up.
Shit is all the same thing, as MLK seeems to have realized and Malcolm X realized too late.

Hoover worked with the HUAC to paint the civil rights movement with the 'communist' brush at every opportunity. MLK knew that, but understood his movement would have been buried if it was caught up in the Red Scare. In its way, it really does show that the issue really was about rich/poor rather than black/white because the rich were doing their goddamnedest to stop them.

                >Yeah. Malcolm X was the one who coined the insult "Uncle Tom" to describe MLK. He basically called him a race traitor because he fought for civil rights instead of separation/black nationalism, which is what the Nation advocated for.

And then Malcolm X went to Mecca, changed his mind about racial separatism and the NOI murdered him.

                >Malcolm X travelled in Africa to establish connections; his end goal was for black people to return to Africa.
it was actually this trip to Africa and his eventual hajj to Mecca that lead to Malcom X leaving the Nation and denouncing Elijah Muhammad as a false prophet.

It really all came down to Farrakhan getting paranoid that he would undermine his power and authority.

For context Farrakhan was in like his 70s when he voiced regret. At face value it really comes down to him becoming an old man and leaning more into the spiritual side of things. If your trying to paint it as something more then it comes off as him trying to save face when he was on 60 minutes across from Malcolm's Daughter.

Wait so if the White Devil knows nothing of Good or Evil (only an implanted instinct to kill blacks), is skilled at taming animals and living away from civilization, and is healthier and stronger than average, wouldn’t that mean Yakub basically bred the Fruit of the Garden of Eden out of humanity and returned us to our pure roots?

The logic is only "frick white people we're going our own way" since the west is (mostly) Christian. Other anons have already pointed out that muslims enslaved too.
The real deal would be to adopt an African culture and religion, but which one when the average member is the descendant of perhaps hundreds of tribes? Can't make up their own because then any rube can criticize that the movement is make-believe. It's probably easier to pick Islam since it's still Abrahamic but alien enough for them.

The NOI's mythology is only barely related to mainstream Islam if the comic didn't prove that to you, which is mainly how they get around the contradiction.

There are actual people that do this, pic related was born in Detroit and travelled to Nigeria to become a priest in a pagan religion then went back to America converted a bunch of other people until he had enough followers to found a settlement https://web.archive.org/web/20231123200633/https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/27/obituaries/adefunmi-i-overlooked.html

      >Time to educate this young'n, get ready to inceive this knowledge. Welcome to Club:Truth, whiteboy

No I know she's a slave but also that from the Nakamotoshi perspective this is the least cruel option without releasing her and waiting until they inevitably have to hunt her down and kill her because she's a sociopathic cat monster.
Also "Mountain Clan sympathiser" you try living next to those barbarians anon.

Is it at all surprising, in retrospect? The NOI is an "Evangelical" religion, predicated upon conversion. So not only is it full of attempts to propagandize to outsiders, but to reinforce the beliefs of the converted, who must maintain their faith in a world that finds them ridiculous.
