>"GO-GO MYSTERY MACHINE" is in development at Warner Bros. Animation! This new Scooby-Doo series takes Shaggy and Scooby to Japan, where they unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters that are now causing trouble all over the country.

>13 Ghosts but with Japanese folklore
I'll take it
I like the concept of the Yokai too.
>scooby doo bad!
>scoby doo japan good!
doo bad!
Who is saying this other than you, dumb homosexual
Scooby has been boring for more than a decade by now; Velma was garbage, SCOOB! failed; when was the last good movie?
They had a golden opportunity with Courage, to finally have monsters, but they were cowardly.
Plus, Shaggy looks like a twink, I want that they have bara Fred, who will stretch Shaggy´s throat with his monster wiener.
FPBP
This really does feel like a modern take of 13 Ghosts.
I hope we get some old lady exorcist/miko that explains to Shaggy and Scoob how bad they fricked up, then has her granddaughter join them to stop the monsters they unleashed.
Gegege No Kitaro and Jigoku Sensei Nube but without underage nudity or GS Mikami without boobs and sex jokes
?si=M5WBeDb8Cv3rm7NS
Mikami's SNES game had some banger tracks
?si=siP7At-h7QYPnD2-
?si=7_AixZp1KadtA6IF
Nube > Mikami >>> Kitaro
I get the feeling that Scooby-Doo fans would like Nube better since it's the only one with the mystery solving aspect to it, Mikami always showed the viewer who the true monster was right off the bat
> but without underage nudity or GS Mikami without boobs and sex jokes
You Say that like if it is something Bad.
Hanna Barbera inspired anime and now anime is inspiring Hanna Barbera.
It's gone full circle.
Wrong, Walt Disney inspired anime
Scooby Doo is more popular than every IP Cartoon Network ever made
NTA but the Time Bokan OVA were all the evil trios have a race is a Wacky Races parody, also in the Darkstalkers artbook one of the devs said that he was inspired by Hanna-Barbera cartoons for some of the more silly character sprites, Dororon Enma Kun MeraMera and Dotto Koni Chan also had Wacky Races episodes and the Doronbo Gang's car in the PS1 Time Bokan racing game is modelled after Dick Dastardly's car from Wacky Races
The main villain of Capcom's 1997 beat em up game "Battle Circuit" is a Dick Dastardly parody too (he even has the moustache, a pet sidekick and a car who looks almost the same as Dick's), Japan loves Wacky Races
The US and Japan trade aesthetics and design choices every decade or so.
>thing
>thing, in Japan
America has become creatively desolate. This is the best path forward for everyone. Just as some poor countries are incapable of progressing without external influence, so must America accept help from Japan, even if it comes in the form of cultural settler-colonialism.
Only artstyle, everything else is the same shito.
Outsourcing can also cut costs and allow for greater returns.
That has been illegal since 2000 so Japan wouldn't end up like South Korea, If Japan is involved they must have say, be in the divers seat in terms of control as well as most of the funding has to be in yen.
Then convert dollars to yen. Problem solved.
Also illegal.
Obnoxious.
Stop making Scooby Doo.
I like some Scooby stuff. But not Velma. I only watched Mindy Project because my wife is Indian(ish) and muh representation but it's poorly written and the jokes are always too goddamn obvious. Now combine that with bad voice acting and no Ike Barinholtz and you're in for a bad time IE an episode of Velma.
I'm not gonna knock this one until I try it. I really disliked that one reboot from... I can't remember when. But everything about it rubbed me the wrong way.
What do we think about Be Cool? I liked that one a lot
IKYFL
Can't be worse than Velma
feels like every western property is in love with "anime" these days
what happened?
zoomers started working in cartoons
The next 30 years of animation are going to be dire
im just desperately waiting for the western anime trend to be as hated as the calarts trend, we need variety
It's already becoming to get hated. Reactions to the Lara Croft animation generally consisted of people tired of Western studios using the phrase "anime" to describe their cartoon.
Can it be any worse than when millennial white b***hes had a monopoly on the industry?
Today's staff was yesterday's Tumblr/Deviantart artist who loved Sailor Moon and whatever basic b***h animu.
>loved Sailor Moon
Being an cartoon fan is different from making something entertaining
American cartoons are extremely ugly
Anime is an unoriginal shortcut to make sexy women designs
too many tumblr millennials are getting into the industry
Tumblr millennials hate anime though for being SAWXIST and MUH PEDOS
They still like it though
It's cheep to hire japanese studios again since the yen has lost a lot of value due to the pandemic and japan's long term economic stagnation.
Used to 100 per dollar, now it's about 160 per dollar and seems to slowly and steadily be getting worse.
A fair bit of animation from the 90s and early 00s were also done in japan (BTAS/STAS, Teen Titans, the four 90s scooby doo movies, etc.) so this isn't unprecedented.
Also a one of japan's big studios just went bankrupt and a fair number of other ones are apparently struggling as well.
It's mostly western studios trying to take advantage the poor situation japanese studios are in as well as their popularity with modern audiences.
the big studio going bankrupt thing doesnt really mean anything they hadnt made anything for like the last 10 years anyway and they'd gone bankrupt bc hidekki anno sued them for a bazillion dollar
Those that had to love anime in secret during the 90s have now freedom and are getting jobs in the industry.
executives saw that anime is popular, now everything has to be anime
>What happened.
What this board fails to acknowledge, anime won. Where as American animation failed to create cartoons for teenage to young adult audiences anime created a ton of quality content for those audiences. This, as well as the better art and animation of Japanese television shows, has lead to anime becoming extremely popular with western audiences. While western animation studios close (Bluesky) or fail to innovate in favor of "safe" investments (Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks), anime studios aren't afraid to try something different and as such have cultivated audiences.
Comics are struggling too, Demon Slayer outsold the entire American comic book industry. The money in animation and comics is now in Japan.
>>>Cinemaphile is that way.
>can't even think of a comeback other than "g-get out"
So this is the power of Cinemaphile...
You are completely and 100% correct. I got in to animation as a kid because I loved 90's-00's era CN, it's what got me in to art in the first place. As time has gone on I moved more and more on to anime because new shows never matured with me growing up and on a technical level they stylistically got a lot worse and the actual animation declined where as I actually feel on average anime has become a lot better animated over the past decade or so. I'm a professional now, lots of other people are in the same boat as me. I don't know how exactly to fix it. I think maybe indie animation is the only way forward for the west because the professional scene has totally collapsed.
moron
moron
>beanmouth is the only western
moron and japanese
>anime created a ton of quality content for those audiences
Lol
>anime studios aren't afraid to try something different and as such have cultivated audiences.
LOL. 95% of anime are manga and visual novel adaptations
Yea, about that...
Read
This guy gets it. I don't know why Cinemaphile is in denial about this. We are finally at the point where western "industry" is trying to co-opt anime because they recognize that it is more profitable. Western comics are in fricking shambles, western cartoons are actively fricking dying before our eyes, western cartoon networks are largely on the brink or increasingly creating more faux-anime or anime inspired products, anime and manga's popularity is through the fricking roof and absolutely global and still if you bring this shit up people will just call you a shill or whatever.
Anime is superior to pretty much anything the West churns out. Of course there's an inferiority complex. I'd take this any day over more beanmouth garbage.
The west always just wanted to use cartoons for quick cash. Once AI gets big we will see a big shift in western animation, for better or for worse.
>beanmouth garbage
Main reason why I don't watch a lot of stuff
Western cartoon art styles aren't appealing anymore. No one wants to draw like that.
Netflix has called western shows that aren't outright comedies "anime" for a while because Americans can't comprehend a cartoon not primarily being comedy. Now companies are trying to cash in on the growing popularity with shit like MAWS.
The trend is older than that. Adult swim used to have forums where their shows were split into 2 subforums: comedy(cartoons), action(anime). Check waybackmachine.
Outsourcing to overworked japs whose work culture cannot allow them to say "no" is music to the ears of corpos.
Those are all outsourced to koreans, wtf are you talking about?
The Western Animation industry killed itself by sticking to Disney's forced corporate antics.
Also anime is cheap because Japan's animators are paid & treated like absolute dogshit.
Not true.
https://desuarchive.org/a/thread/217340392/#q217343448
Some studios like TMS/Telecom, Ghibli, Chizu, Ponoc, Comix Wave Films and Kyoto Animation even get paid hourly.
>weeabooby-doo
Lut loh, Laggy.
Will Shaggy finally go Ultra Instinct?
Of course they inserted a black guy
They must not have taken note after ass creed
In case you're wondering why series seem to always push black people and/or white women (and occasionally Asians), it's because pandering to blacks and women net higher ESG scores for companies. And the only reason why blacks and women net higher ESG scores is because they're the biggest current spenders when it comes to people with disposable income, enough that they're often in debt.
It just doesn't work too effectively because most normie women and normie black people generally stay away from geeky/nerdy media since it's considered social suicide and they lack the emotional connection to identify with it. Not to say that geeky black guys and geeky women don't exist, they certainly do. And half the time, these black men are emasculated/non-threatening/homosexualy which black men hate. More black men love Goku or Vegeta or Venom than they do Superman or Miles Morales.
The pandering to women is especially bad because for years they were pushing "60% or new comic readers are women." Not understanding a lot of them were just coming in from movies and didn't stick around and the ones that did liked how things were for the most part. Changing the whole land scape for them didn't working the way they hoped.
Sadly with both Black and Female characters it is going to be a long time before people trust creator's are not just trying to get some quick investment money. Indie games and comics right now seem to be the only ones people trust are making what they want to for characters.
>It just doesn't work too effectively because most normie women and normie black people generally stay away from geeky/nerdy media since it's considered social suicide
You seem to forget that "nerd culture" is normalgay culture nowadays. Yeah, boomer blacks and boomer women in their 40s aren't going to be clued in, but video games as an industry dwarf Hollywood in the modern day, and nearly every adult from their 20s to their 30s has either a basic knowledge of what you consider nerd culture, or is actively engaged with it. It's not the 2000s anymore, young adults were raised in the nerd culture boom and are the entire reason that movies like Spiderverse thrive and make a shit ton of money.
The real problem with comics is that they are inaccessible for many outside of trade paperbacks, which do sell. The industry bleeds countless dollars selling floppies to comic shops, which ARE something women avoid due to the clientele and image. It's not terribly uncommon to find a "nerd girl" with a trade paperback or two.
Trades face the same problem as floppies though. It gets hard to find the early numbered ones. I used to get so mad with DC because they stopped numbering trades in hopes people would just buy random ones and not feel the intimidation of the legacy of characters. I think the real answer is to just cut out most the capeshit books and also be comfortable being niche again. If they could bring more varied stories in it would probably do more than a lot of the stupid retcons they have been doing. At least for the big two.
Many, MANY comics fans will try to argue that comics are perfectly accessible and that inaccessibility is an excuse made up by people who don't care about comics or that people are just filtered by it but it's indisputably true that inaccessibility is what is killing the industry with the current market it's trying to cater to. Even after multiple full reboots, you'll get a story featuring some character like Psycho Pirate or some even more obscure character like fricking Snowflame and not only does it not explain shit, it frames the whole thing as a cheeky wink and nod to the audience in the know (people in the actual fandom) while just confusing people who are new to the stories and world.
The age old question of "if I want to read Batman comics, where do I start?" will be forever relevant because nobody can actually answer that. Different people will tell you to read Year One, or Long Halloween, or just to read Killing Joke. Some will say to read the most recent run, some will recommend avoiding it and reading a run from the 90s - and it doesn't matter either way because if you actually want the full story of Batman in that canon, you have to read like 3 other comic runs too that he shows up in. It's an actual nightmare to try to get into comics, and that wouldn't even be a problem if comics continued to cater to their smaller loyal fanbases who loved those worlds and characters - but the constant reboots and retcons to try to make them accessible but failing ruined even that because everything is different now.
I don't want to say that comics are fricked, but they have managed to alienate the audience that loves them while failing to actually commit to wooing a new fanbase because they're too stuck on their old material.
Yeah, that seems kind of random for something taking place specifically in Japan. It almost seems TOO pandering.
>like, zoinks Scoob we've been turned into imitation Cinemaphile
>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
>like, you said it buddy
>"Scooby Doo" not in the title
Daring.
>No Fred, Daphne, or Velma
I thought WB finally ditched this stupid concept after Get a Clue
That show was kino
but mainly because of the gay Nazi villain and robot butler
>gay Nazi villain
Isn't that completely redundant wording? Nazis are always villains and always gay because German.
fine he's a balding Nazi amputee
Less redundant, considering most, but not all, Nazis are balding and many, but not most, are amputees.
Yes. They do it just to frick with you, specifically.
Velma doesn’t work in supernatural scooby Doo media anymore.
Goblin King had her break down and go nuts at magic and supernatural existing. And Velma kept denying the supernatural in 13th Ghost and Return to Zombie Island.
Do you really want Velma to cry SWAMP GAS every episode?
All she has to do is be the smart one. She can coexist with the supernatural, she doesn't have to constantly be disproving it. She could even be interested in learning more about the supernatural like the scientific properties of magic or the biology of rare mythological beasts.
She didn't have a problem with the Supernatrual in the first 3 straight to video movies, or Mystery incoprated
Get a A Clue was great. The villains, trebla and one off characters were funnier than fred, daphne and velma.
Nobody cares about the rest of the gang. Scooby and Shaggy are what sold the IP in the first place. It's why they got rid of the others the first time decades ago. They don't matter.
I'd probably be excited if Velma, Fred and Daphne were in it. I don't know why they keep separating the gang.
Good art style though.
Refreshing to see an attractive art style after Mindy Kaling's Velma
Is it attractive? It looks like Pokemon.
Is THIS attractive?
Two things can be ugly. Not sure which I hate more, generic animu or generic, cheap Family Guy style.
>Two things can be ugly.
American traitors cannot accept that because it's black vs whites, left vs rights, us verse thems.
It looks more interesting.
It COULD be, but these homosexuals removed all the fanservice for the 2nd season, thus making an already awful show even shittier
Are you Implying Pokémon isn't attractive ?
Pink-hair girl is cute
How soon until porn?
Not soon enough
Why is there a Shiba there? Do we really need another dog character? Do they not remember Scrappy?
So they can call them "Shiba Deeba Dee"
I like where your head's at.
Its Scooby's cousin Baka-inu Doo, that's why shaggy and scooby traveled to Japan in the first place.
>Baka-inu
But the merch
The merch
Merch
>Scooby's uncle Daisuke-Doo
I assume that's who the shiba is
Scooby gets a relative almost every spin-off, the most consistent just happened to be Scrappy
He looks too young and not a dude in his mid to late 20s
>Why is there a Shiba there?
have you been living under a digital rock these past 10 years
RIP Kabosu :'(
Hey Norville is back
Just make another iteration with the original cast, stop trying to reinvent the wheel you fricking hacks.
That "Mystery Machine" is a pickup truck
Lame
It's probably a toy and the mid-series upgrade is an attachment you have to buy to turn it into the van.
Kei truck is a fine pick for the new mystery machine
also to mention its becoming popular in America
Gundam was made by a jap
everything you posted is medieval inspired and has no way of reshaping history
checkmate schizo
It is literally reshaping history by saying all those fictional settings had native black people all along when we know for a fact they didn't
this is basic going back to that phase with red shirt Shaggy and scooby alone dealing with real ghosts
Shaggy has a yellow shirt now and no left arm.
Good
Okay, everyone in this thread knows that we're never actually going to get to see this thing, right?
So is this like a "second generation" thing with the only returning character being Scooby? I'd call the guy next to him shaggy, but given the other character's I'd think he's his son or nephew.
>So is this like a "second generation" thing with the only returning character being Scooby?
Impossible because Dogs only live 14-18 years on average.
great danes only live till 6-8 years
I hate Faux-anime, but I'll take it over Velma.
>No Fred, Daphne, or Velma
that didn't work last time
That's the one I was talking about in
It was fricking awful
Also, Be Cool Daphne best Daphne
> Scooby Doo in Japan
> pink haired Japanese Mc still gets blacked somehow
Im so tired of this bs. The story already takes place in fricking Japan, is it not diverse enough??
>country is losing people every year with next to no immigration granted that applies to almost every East Asian nation
clearly not
>sees a black man
>instantly think about him and the japanese girl having sex together
get your porn addiction handled
>sees a black man
>instantly think about him and the japanese girl having sex together instead of him and Shaggy.
For shame, Cinemaphile is losing its "frick everything that moves" mentality.
You're acting since 2008 people haven't flocked here for the explicit purpose of being allowed to publicly hate blacks.
>Publicly
>On an anonymous image board
Uh, dude...
The girl's wearing a choker
That's hot
Are they gonna get an actual anime studio to animate it?
I remember HB did an Ultraman cartoon at one point.
Probably not.
Artsyle looks too much like MAWS
>Doesn't know about Rick and Morty: The Anime.
>Skinny Ian JQ
>Doge
>Nora Universe
anime is taking over chuds
I don't know if you know this but chuds overwhelmingly prefer anime over western cartoons
Because they're obsessed with sexy women designs and hate diversity, anime fits well with their worldview
i was joking around. havent been to Cinemaphile since regular show was still airing. have people really become this autistic?
chuds love anime, though. Because chuds are largely pedophiles.
>No Fred, Daphne, or Velma
Frick, I hope they at least make a cameo so I can see how sexy anime Daphne would look
It could be a Batman Beyond situation and the OG crew are super old now.
Weird to not include Daphne when she is japanese.
Will it be subbed or dubbed?
will they meet Lupin?
TAKE ALL MY MONEY
I grew up on Lupin as a kid in 1980s Italy. A revival would be welcome. And if it's bad, I can just pretend it never happened.
>faux anime scoob
>too cutesy+generic as frick
Missed opportunity to not cash in on this
What could've been...
I don't know how they did it but voth shows had the perfectly balanced casts
>Scooby doo
>timeless teed stereotypes and comic relief sidekick
>Lupin
>Timeless theif stereotypes
>Read the whole thing left to right
>Goemon Ishikawa is there...Goemon Ishikawa is there
>Look up
Son of a gun, ya got me
I’d give a piece of my left pinkie for this crossover
I already gave a chunk of my right big toe for it
Thank you
I wasn't joking, either See
/
/
Lupin will be tracked to the ends of the earth and almost die because he stole there scooby snacks.
Pink jacket Lupin would be the best fit since he had a no killing rule and was more of an anti-hero who sometimes helped others rather than a full on bad guy
Ok I was rolling my eyes at the whole anime Scooby because "Oh boy time to listen to Cinemaphile take their mask off to reveal they're actually anime nerds that will go on and on about "MUH SHITTY WESTERN CORRUPTED BY CULTURE WARS blah blah blah".
But THIS, I would happily shut up for and watch.
>Oh boy time to listen to Cinemaphile take their mask off to reveal they're actually anime nerds
You are on Cinemaphile. People being anime nerds on all board is nothing weird.
HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER
... Speed Rambo?
Ryo Saeba, main character of City Hunter.
Isn't that 13 ghosts?
I hope they have food porn, this is Shaggy and Scooby we are talking about
This is so strange that I can’t help but be captivated by it, its got my curiosity piqued at least. That Shaggy is way too pretty boy looking though, feels wrong
>Guys look, thing you like, but anime style!
I hate how they copy the superficial elements that only morons would think is what makes anime popular.
>It's the aesthetic! Clearly people don't like the look of cartoons, so if we make it look japanese, it will be popular! Storytelling and obnoxious ESG horseshit have NOTHING to do with it!
It's like saying if you paint a horse red it will go as fast as a red car. It isn't the fricking color that makes it fast, moron.
the only salvagable part of anime is the superficial shit. once you hear them talk and develop their story you start to hate it.
I don't find the aesthetics appealing, personally. Japanese "cool" just feels so corny to me, and their "cute" stuff makes me want to rip my ears off. Truth be told I think it's just because it's alien. Probably why many animegays are so fricking snotty and obnoxious, they feel special for liking le exotic animation.
That being said, there are some with legitimately good stories to tell, and those tend to be the ones people actually remember from the vast sea of shit like "My butthole got stretched open by Tyrone and became a portal to the second dimension! HUH?!"
anime and japanese culture have been mainstream for ages now. especially with younger generations. if anything its people still clinging onto the hope that western animation will ever bounce back who are the snotty contrarians. everyone else moved on a long time ago but you're free to continue watching preschool shows and "adult" animation.
Proving my point, animegay.
You're downright delusional if you think art will just slowly be entirely japified and we'll all just make anime moeshit forever and cartoons are just an old, outdated form of artistic expression. People will get bored of it. In fact by claiming that's happened to cartoons, if you want to remain consistent you'd have to say it applies to anime as well. If everyone just did animeshit, we would get bored of it and the first big thing to break away from that would create it's downfall. Simple as.
i'd rather watch the most braindead slow moeshit slice of life over 90% of western cartoons that have released in the past 15 years.
Well that sounds more like a skill issue to me. I'm sorry the only new cartoons you know about are teen titans go and spongebob.
>Having a shit taste is a "skill issue"
This is getting sad
You're right, it is, but I'm glad you at least admit to having shit taste. That's more than I'd get out of the average immigr/a/nt lurking for east vs west threads to gloat in.
Whatever, keep bragging you like drinking raw sewage and pretending you like it.
You're two steps from saying "The Simpsons is Good Again!"
Ok Cinemaphilelien. I can give your medium's newer shit a fair shake, more than you can say.
Probably for the best. I don't hate anime, but I do hate the obnoxious fans.
Oh believe me, I have given modern Cinemaphile garbage a shot. But I don't feel like ranting at the moment.
the funny thing is i haven't browsed Cinemaphile in ages. not everyone who likes and watches anime browses that shithole. its not a requirement to interact with cancerous fanbases if you enjoy anime.
>Probably why many animegays are so fricking snotty and obnoxious, they feel special for liking le exotic animation.
I just grew up with Saint Seiya and became the type of action show I like the most, man. Consequences felt really urgent. And I remember being shocked when Anthony fell off his horse and died in Candy Candy, my 5 year old brain was like "wait, they can kill characters in cartoons? That's allowed?"
>Candy Candy
You Italian or from South America? We had Candy Candy in Italy and that threw us all for a loop, too
mexican, so north american by sheer geographical position. How's summer treating you over there? I fricking hate it here.
I live in america now, actually, but I was complaining about the heat here to my cousin and she said that it's been cool for June. I just looked it and it's hotter here in Delaware that over there in Naples.
Also, my mum studied in Mexico for a few years before I was born. She's a botanist.
Very interesting. I'm jelly of their cool Naples summer, over here it's around 110°F, it blows.
>Truth be told I think it's just because it's alien. Probably why many animegays are so fricking snotty and obnoxious, they feel special for liking le exotic animation.
What if I like it ebcause the best of anime really is above the best of cartoons? I like Rose of Versailels, Takarajima, Texnolyze, Patlabor, Ping Pong the animation, Lotgh, mecha like Gundam and many others. I don't like it just because it's exotic. I like it because I can't find anything similar/mature in western animation. Even their corny stuff, the most fan piece of animation I've consumed was space adventure cobra. Your post is such a cope.
>I can't find
then the problem is with you
>western is only preschool shows and rick&morty
of course
>Noooo western animation is totally mature because of this obscure thing from France or some other country that isn't the US
>obscure
>obscure
so what you mean is that you also wouldn't like anime if it stayed obscure in the west like how it originally was
>so what you mean is that you also wouldn't like anime if it stayed obscure in the west like how it originally was
No? Where have I implied that in my post?
just shut up already, "I accept your concession" yea, yeah, plug that hole with Black person dick and just get it over with please, you're getting annoying, cartoons are ass or mediocre, it's very much accepted by the entirety of planet earth, except maybe some coping american gays like you.
>cartoons are ass or mediocre, it's very much accepted by the entirety of planet earth
yes, but you forgot to specify it's japanese cartoons. which are intentionally tailored for mediocrity and effortless production
Not true, case in point.
yes, (most of) those had westerners telling them how to draw.
No as they were still directed and laid out by Japanese staff.
Nah anime rocks. The fact that tmsgay is beating you in an argument says a lot.
Yea, stuff like this
Not the shounen slop thats getting pushed now of days.
>>I can't find
>then the problem is with you
Then just list those similar. Of course you are probably going to list some mtv stuff, some obscure european stuff or some film festival stuff. Which is fine. The point isn't that actually good western animation is non-existent. The point is that there is more japanese one that also covers more subjects and that also uses directing techniques that are almost non-existent in western animation. You would have to be dumb to think people like nip stuff just because it's exotic.
>deviantart fanart
>turns real
Who keeps letting deviantart artists get into the industry ?
Studios burnt out from constantly cycling back and forth between conservative and woke
They have to go somewhere since DeviantArt is dying.
frick yeaaaaaaah scooby-chan!
> sushi inspired monsters
umm racist much?
Yuck
That's literally just Jimmy from that anime superman show, can these unoriginal fricks not design any other black person than "oreo homosexual with broccoli hair"?
The studio behind this is DR studio, since they have a bad case of recycling character designs. Like how in Voltron, Lance is just Sokka and the princess is just a darker skinned Katara.
>it's another "monsters are real" scooby doo series
don't they know I hate this.
I personally grenlighted it and told them to make it japanese just so you can see it as a giant middle finger to your beliefs and taste.
>Girl has Sailor Moon twin tails
You know there are other hairstyles in both real-life Japan and anime right? Sailor Moon had other hairstyles for its girls goddammit
Girls with twintails got really popular in anime during the 90s thanks to Sailor Moon, now most shows have at least one of them
>“While visiting Japan on the ultimate foodie adventure, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters that are now causing trouble all over the country.”
>“Scooby turns to his uncle, Daisuke-Doo, and magical friend Etsuko and gadget wiz Toshiro to help solve the mystery and catch the monsters.”
“Go-Go Mystery Machine” is in the works for the Cartoon Network.
>Daisuke-Doo
>magical friend Etsuko
they're going to make her a literal magical girl, aren't they?
>Bright pink/purple hair aping Sailor Moon
Whatever gave you that idea?
>they're going to make her a literal magical girl, aren't they?
I hope so, they already did that with the PowerPuff Girls all the way back in 2005
>Toshiro
Get the frick out, they are pretending the guy is part-Japanese, he's black as frick outsde of his beady chink eyes
> female Japanese character gets to look like a regular anime character
> male one gets blackwashed
kek
>black guy is a nip actually
Holy fricking shit they really are trying to blackwash the Japanese.
>...and gadget wiz Toshiro
I'd respect this way more if they actually just called him Wayne or whatever black nerd name you can come up with.
...I'd still hate it, but at least I'd respect them for being straight forward about it.
I assumed the gadget wiz was the girl since she had gears for hair scrunchies and a lightning bolt symbol on her shirt that is contractual for all inventor characters nowadays.
I'm fine with this but if you do a real monster spin-off then Daphne has to be present.
Ill give it a shot. Scooby Doo is one of those franchises that's super hit and miss so I can never tell which ones will be good or not. Be Cool Scooby Doo ended up being of my favorite series ever.
>no anime Velma
Dropped.
the west bent the knee to japan. its over.
Anime being normalized is good. It means the aesthetic will stop being interesting. This is the peak before the decline.
this homie really thinks anime has one singular aesthetic.
It does. No anime looks like anything from the 80s/90s, it's all moeblob pedo coomerslop.
>buzzword buzzword buzzword
Yawn. Every cartoon after the 90s look like steven universe.
Cope, I'm correct, you will never be Japanese
Yeah I am coping by being right. You sound extremely dumb.
Posting pedoshit means you lost.
Quite the opposite, it means I have double won. Make you have to admit defeat once because of your buzzwords salad and now twice because my image makes you seethe.
The anime aesthetic hasn't been interesting since the mid 90s.
>Effeminte black kid is named "Toshiro"
Do they realize how fricking rare black people are in any Asian country right? Let alone one as insular as Japan. Yeah, it happens, but it's like finding a jaguar in Arizona.
he's just tanned
Black hapa probably
Jimmy Olsen is really fricking everywhere, isn't he?
>blacks in grolious nihon do not existaru!
>magicar gilrs with fuschia hail ale totarry endemic to japanaru and a gleat exampre of Yamato damashi tbh!
>arso tarking fricking dogsaru!
I think the amount of blacks in Japan between hapas born from okinawan GIs and and nigerians working construction and nightclub security is way higher than anyone here is willing to accept because they've built this fantasy in their heads of based and grorious nippon where they'd be free from Black folk and have their own harem.
This doesn't all change the point. Japanese people can spend their whole lives without seeing a black person in the flesh, that's how rare they are, and Japan EXTREMELY insular, they've only now gotten used to the idea of foreigners mucking things up in their country, ones of a different skin type are a different breed entirely.
Who fricking cares!? Its a cartoon dawg. Chill
I'm going to assume he's a hafu. In any case, if the dude was born and raised in Japan, then he's japanese.
Try to be normal about the girl, Cinemaphile.
If you want to make the girl a true Sailor Moon ripoff, she has to get naked during the last episode, Sailor Moon got naked during the last episode, C'mon let her get naked
at least make the transformation sequence hot
>All the "Yokai" shown so far are little blatant Ghibli-esq sushi demons and a sumo OC with butterfly wings
Oh...oh no...
I bet the Californians who came up with this thing fancy themselves as "progressives", but can't be bothered to learn anything about actual Japanese mythology and just resort to tired cliches like the true blue 'Muricans they are
They literally look like unused Yokai Watch monsters.
They look too modernized for Ghibli or Gegege no Kitaro.
>Shaggy and Scooby travel to Japan!
>there's still a black guy
The modern world is something else.
you guys are aware that black people have also always regularly shown up in actual anime as well right? this is beyond special snowflake levels of triggered when the very sight of black people makes you upset.
>very sight of black people makes you upset
Upset? I think it's funny.
No man you don't understand the Japanese are like me they seethe at the idea of Yasuke just as much as I do!
Anon, you are aware Yasuke wasn't born in Japan right? He was a slave.
"Yasuke" isn't even his actual goddamn name, it was given to him by Nobunaga. His real name and place of birth is something we have NO idea about, but it sure as frick wasn't Japan
>you guys are aware that black people have also always regularly shown up in actual anime as well right?
This is beyond bullshit and you know it.
>you guys are aware that black people have also always regularly shown
>always
Not any of the the anons complaining but cmon. Hardly if any at all, you had a few more show up in some 90s stuff to the 2000s.
>you guys are aware that black people have also always regularly shown up in actual anime as well right?
Care to give any actual examples?
Pro tip: Just because they're brown, doesn't mean they're black
Nta but typically black people in manga were in the background occasionally to represent Americans/American soldiers
unless the author/artist had an interest in world history then you might get a joke/pun/reference to something else or someone's likeness as the inspiration for a character. Again though, it's not very common but to name a few series that have black characters
>Smokey and Pocoloco from JJBA
>Officer Black from DB
>Afro Samurai
>Akira
There's probably a few more but that's to the extent that I'm aware of, Highschool Be-bop has one but it's part of a joke about how dark Okinawans are and is also American. There's probably some newer stuff have some.
>Smokey and Pocoloco from JJBA
>Officer Black from DB
the plots of those two doesn't occur in Japan
There was no mention of it needing to take place in Japan though, anon just asked for examples. There's a reason why I mentioned black characters tended to be American.
>Smokey and Pocoloco from JJBA
Not Japanese in-universe, they are explictly from the US.
>Officer Black from DB
The Dragon Ball-verse is explictly a fantasy universe, so that doesn't count
>Afro Samurai
A fantasy self insert by Samuel L Jackson, and was advertised as such and was paid for by him
>Akira
Been a hot minute since I've seen, but I don't remember any black people in it
NTA but Tiger and Bunny had a black gay super hero, and an Obama stand in who was portrayed as useless and worthless.
Then that doesn't really mean much. Nobody is saying Japanse people aren't aware black people exist, but there's a big difference from using them, and having them be part of the Japanese populace or have them represented as being part of it, which is more the point here.
>Nobody is saying Japanse people aren't aware black people exist, but there's a big difference from using them, and having them be part of the Japanese populace or have them represented as being part of it, which is more the point here.
How do you know the character is a native-born Japanese and not just a foreigner or tourist or transfer student like most black people in Japan are?
Anime has plenty of white characters too and they're almost never portrayed as being natives.
>How do you know the character is a native-born Japanese and not just a foreigner or tourist or transfer student like most black people in Japan are?
This just goes back to the initial point made in this post chain where anon was laughing at the premise of "Shaggy and Scooby visit Japan" being seemingly watered down with Americanisms.
Alright fair enough but
that sparked this conversation was arguing that they were a regular occurrence in japanese media, anime specifically.
I get what you're saying though.
See the reply above yours. To add on to this I'm not arguing that they are common but the opposite.
>Been a hot minute since I've seen, but I don't remember any black people in it
The manga had one towards the middle to end of it when the American military rolled in.
Gundam
One Piece
Naruto
Bleach
Soul Eater, especially
Tenjo Tenge and Air Gear
Durarara
The Blacker Baron and Bo are examples of Japanese video games if you want to ask about those
What wiener are you smoking? FF especially 7 is one of THE most japanese video games of all time
Most Gundams aren't set in Japan but in space
Its Japanese inspired space
Usually no, most Gundams take place in globalist dystopias, besides like G Gundam and 00.
Gundam is set in fricking space. OP and Naruto are shit. Bleach has like 3 in a cast of many more. Soul Eater is LITERALLY set in cali and still has four at most of the top of my head. Durarara has one and it's weird and notable. They're not just 'there' and they're never there without reasonable explanation. Some random black ruskie in Durarara is treated as the oddity it is.
There's not just random blacks in the background of Japan. We're not watching British television.
Off the top of my head?
Soul Eater, Fire Force, SAO, Black Lagoon, Basquash, Michiko and Hatchin, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Bleach, Carol & Tuesday, Stardust Crusaders, and Cowboy Bebop
Final Fantasy 7 isn't a Japanese game moron, Barret is a mutt from fatland stop with the wokeshit.
Make the obligatory Yuki-Onna villain hot and I'll give this a 10/10
Bruh it's 2024. Yuki Onna can't be hot. They'd melt.
Scooby Doo peaked at WNSD. Mystery Inc was mid tier irony poisoned loreslop. Nothing else is needed. Let scooby rest
>could've just been some short series, anime-esque thing of the full gang in Japan
>no, have an american company's impression of an annoying anime girl protag, and a black guy because we don't actually understand anime
i thought this board loved my adventures with superman?
>anime
>has black character
defeats the purpose of anime
They should reuse some Inuyasha baddies
>AAIIIIEEEEEE MOMMY A BLACK PERSON IS ON MY SCREEN GET IT OFF GET IT OFF
No
Cute they are driving one of those Japanese trucks. Shaggy looks awful though. I'm assuming this takes place between a Pup named Scooby Doo and the orginal series because of the ages. Hope Red Herring makes an appearance.
>Caring about the continuity of Scooby-Doo
Scooby Doo is the lynchpin of the cartoon multiverse, lorelet.
Why did you do the in-between for Johnny Bravo and the gang? They had an entire cross over episode.
I didn't make it, but I'd make the tentative argument that it could include Venture Bros and by extension Johnny Quest (+Real Adventures of Johnny Quest) too. There's probably others, its an old chart.
Is it older than the Johnny Bravo Scooby Doo crossover? Why are you posting ancient relics like that?
I've never edited through my image folder.
True
%3D
Looney Tunes is the bigger one. Scooby Doo is just a spoke in that wheel.
>MFW the Predator has crossed over with a few of those.
>no scooby doo meets the predator crossover
>a franchise built around a monster in a mask terrorizing people hasn't crossed over with the franchise built around 4 teens and their dogs sleuthing around solving mysteries and catching mask wearing monsters
What's the issue?
>episode where they fight a Godzilla yokai
>episode where Shaggy goes super saiyan (lmao memes!)
>episode where they fight a yokai with a giant mech/Gundam
>obligatory speed racer episode
can't have a single thread without culture war garbage. 99% of the discussions on this shithole are genuinely pointless and just boil down to /misc/ whining. enjoy your dead ass site. maybe things will get better eventually but it's not gonna be anytime soon.
actually have a nice day dude, for your own good.
I would forgive most of this, if they just used actual fricking monsters from Japanese mythology.
Is that really too much to ask? They aren't even that obscure anymore. I'm pretty sure most westerners know what a fricking "kappa" is now at this point, or a tanuki
>I would forgive most of this, if they just used actual fricking monsters from Japanese mythology.
They might be. A lot of what Cinemaphile is dismissing as "ghibli critters" itt falls under that weird set of yokai that's just when a household object gains a soul and starts jumping around, like kasaobake.
You're putting WAY too much into them
>second dog
>sushi monsters
>fat monster
>the van is now a pickup truck?!
The only thing I’m iffy about is Shaggy’s new look. Something about it is…incorrect.
I felt like it was time to do another Mystery Incorporated.
I never liked it, too edgy
>Blacks just have to self insert themselves into Japanese/Asian culture. He will be the most unpopular character.
If this Mystery Machine variant isn't a transformer Mecha at some point, I'll eat my hat. And it's not a very tasty hat.
I'm starting to really, really hate Warner Bros.
They should throw in a Kitaro reference since that was basically the Yo-kai Scooby Doo
Gashadokuro episode will be KINO
>13 ghosts but for weabs
eh can't be any worse than Velma
Is it weird that I remember repeatedly watching 12 ghosts when I was a kid but I can barely remember anything about it?
Including how many ghosts there are.
shibas are overrated dogs also japanophilia is so oversaturated it's disgusting but weebs are such slop enjoyers that we could have every single new cartoon be blatant anime rip off or full of japanese fantasy for decades and they'd cheer it on over and over like they do now.
Japan is overrated.
I like Japan
Japanese food on the other hand is overrated
It's not just overrated it's uneatable. Ramen is like eating hot water with spices.
PINK HAIRED GIRL . PORN . NOW
Anime is better lol
I mean, not always
Always.
I hope theres a black guy in everything you watch
Not a problem I'll have to deal with.
>thing
>thing japan
>japan
>Black person
What?
>the Shiba Inu is Scooby's uncle
Scooby is part Japanese?
Scooby and the Gang were originally designed by an artist named Iwao Takamoto. So arguably he's always been part Japanese.
>Iwao Takamoto
Pretty sure he worked at Disney unless he was moonlighting or quit the I've the work at the other. I distinctly remember that name from Disney end credits.
Disney from 1945 HB starting in 61.
I thought WB was against the supernatural being in Scooby Doo?
If they allowed Velma to exist, they will allow any bullshit
They allowed Return to Zombie Island and Curse of the 13th Ghost to exist too.
they also allowed Shaggy going to Hell exist
Fair
It turns out to be Swamp Gas
I get that Shaggy and Scooby are the best characters, but why not make the other 3 more entertaining like Be Cool did instead of replacing them.
Or turning them all into dogs like Mystery Pups.
>Black kid in Japan
Yeah that will help them sneak around
Kuro bakemono
>Co: Why did they blackwash Shaggy in this spin-off show? Why didn't they make him a new character that's apart of the team, instead?
>*New spin-off show proceeds to do just that*
>Also Co:
Because it's set in Japan, well known for its multiculturalism
Ah yes, Shaggy and Scooby, my favorite japanese characters.
Are characters not allowed to travel anymore
Except blacks apparently.
When did this character first appear again
That has nothing to do with the question schizo.
How can a character that doesn't exist travel
You tell me, it's just a cartoon after all, not a documentary.
Shaggy and Scooby have existed for decades though
Rambling nonsense isn't going to make your point valid, anon.
I accept your concession
The black guy is a hapa, historically very discriminated against
>Anime
>its done by either PowerHouse, Man of Action or Studio Mir.
Every single time
That actually sounds and looks cool. Looking forward to this.
Trump lost and will lose again
Trump is also pro-Israel, not sure what you mean by this
>scooby doo cast was originally designed by Iwao Takamoto, and many Japanese animators worked on the series throughout the years
>"here's scooby but anime!" but actually made by westerners
it comes full circle
also to mention he made those drawings while he was bored in an imprisonment camp
Looks cool.
I liked Power Puff Girls Z and Avengers Disk Wars more than a lot of current cartoons. Will give it a shot.
Ubisoft is a French company and most blacks being in medieval europe are made by the bongs
We made one knight movie with a black guy and it stared Martin Laurence
>Ubisoft is a French company and most blacks being in medieval europe are made by the bongs
The one making the new AC is Canadian, which is in America
>We made one knight movie with a black guy and it stared Martin Laurence
LOTR, HOTD, Witcher, Dragon Age, Warcraft, etc are all medieval Europe inspired settings that combined didn't contain a single native black person until ~10 years ago despite existing for decades before, and now they're all Detroit
>The one making the new AC is Canadian
Explains a lot. Why are Canadians so cucked?
>mystery meat in mystery machine
what happens if i eat it
Why do Fred, Velma and Daphne get the shaft in some of these shows?
Shaggy and Scooby are indispensable funny talking dog and funny coward, the rest are straight-men
>the rest are straight-men
Which can be filled by whatever characters the two come across in an episodic series ie the rest of the gang are useless.
>in development
So it's not coming until 2026 at the earliest?
It says copyright is 2024
>takes place in Japan
>Still find a way to insert a black
Maybe we'll lucky and Mystery Machine-kun will isekai the diversity hire off into some other series.
>Isuzu shitbox truck for a Mystery Machine
I like it, hopefully the black weeb isn't insufferable.
>scooby doo
>japanese
>STILL adds a black person
sigh
>japan
>*ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding*
frick it
>No Velma
So the same plot as the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo?
Does it have Vincent Price, cause you can't do 13 Ghosts without him.
>girl has the Bocchi cube hair accessory things
Yep, this was made by a zoomer
Oh my god YES! They even have Black person-kun as the main protag! Thank you Warner Brothers for expanding your anime production, YASS!!!
A missed opportunity to use red shirt Shaggy again since the monsters are real in this one. But I guess that trope has been long since thrown out for a while now.
First, he was go then he was stop and now he's slow down.
I mean the last time Red shirt shaggy is referenced was Cyber Chase
So Im sure most show runners either really hate shaggy with a red shirt or just dont know about it
ATLA was a good show but god I am fricking sick of the faux-anime style
IS THAT A BLACK PERSON EXISTING IN JAPAN? THATS THE LEAST REALISTIC THING THIS FRANCHISE CENTERING AROUND A TALKING DOG HAS EVER DONE
t. person who screeched about The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise
I'm more mad the movie focused more on him than the actual last samurai and the village they all had to protect
he didnt even lead the charge
Its not even white people, its just Tom Cruise
The movie is told though as if you are reading Nathan Algren's journal. It is so they can have his voice over explain Japanese culture and the way of the Samurai and not sound to weird. Fish out of water is one of the most common story telling tropes so the main character can be the audience's pov and have the world explained to them without it being to out of what a normal conversation between characters should be.
See, I saw it as a redemption arc for Tom Cruise to properly liberate the Japanese village because of what he did to the indians, which made him lose faith and quit the army
But for a story called the last samurai, I wanted to see more of the samurais do their thing more than what a white persons perspective is
Its really just hollywood being hollywood
>Its really just hollywood being hollywood
And yet Japan ate it up. It's one of the highest grossing live-action movies of all time there.
The thing is, yes, you won't meet any nogs in Japan outside of the american army areas and a handful of tourist traps. You are not a normal sight on most of this planet
Will shaggy getting a reoccurring waifu side character as he tends to do on these sort of adventures?
Kill all fake anime
>have a chance to explore yokai mythos
>nope have sushi and sumo monsters
Americans are literally afraid of people learning other cultures
This seems less like Scooby-Doo in Japan and more like Scooby-Doo and Anime.
I'm seeing/feel less "Japanese monsters, spirits, and folklore" and more "Anime references and otaku culture but with a diet brand Shaggy and Scooby-Doo"
The most damning is the title; "Go-Go Mystery Machine" and not something like "Yōkai Scooby-Doo". The former screams "AnImE! lol-desu"
>No Googie
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
>black guy is mc in japan
jesus they're not even trying now
He's the son of Yasuke
>Wait, you mean there are black people who live OUTSIDE America?
Also are we forgetting there are African characters in the 3 biggest shounen? Killer B, Touzen, Ussop
>Killer B
from an entire village of black people in a fictional world
>Touzen
supporting character
>Ussop
not set in japan, the entire cast is different races
my point is that they go to irl japan and just happened to get a black guy as a mc
Its a western show made by Americans and anecdotally I'm black and grew up on Scooby Doo. I'm not seeing an issue inherently
cool. japan is an incredibly homogeneous society. of course the americans have to put a black guy in the mc though. like I said, they're not even trying
There are black people in Japan, tho.
>roughly 0.015% of the Japanese population are black
holy fricking shit I have to just assume you're trolling or a moron. just to be clear. no shit black people exist in japan. I'm pointing out that of course an american show with traditionally no black or poc main characters ditches most of the main cast, goes to a country with an incredibly tiny black population and just so happens to get a black mc member.
do you not think this was intentionally done for diversity's sake?
I think it was done for diversity but it could also be done in a non-terrible way. Yes, there are very few black people living in a Japan. However, most English speakers stick together in Japan. It isn't just the teachers that hang out but any one non-Japanese usually will look for groups to hang out with because it is hard to fit into normal Japanese society.
So if this guys is already Shaggy's friend or the meet in an environment that makes sense, it could work. More than likely it will just be one off episode and wont go into much about why he or Shaggy are there though, so the episode writing will have to be good for it to not just feel like pandering.
>so the episode writing will have to be good for it to not just feel like pandering
It's cute that you have hope, anon... I lost mine ages ago.
I just want to stop being a doomer anon. I am so tired. At this point it is have hope or end it all.
>I think it was done for diversity
so we're literally in agreement? I'm pretty fricking left and have no problems with them including black or other poc, my entire point is that it was clearly done solely and obviously for the sake of diversity, which we apparently agree on.
B-but what about Y-Yasuke?!!
The greatest s-samurai to ever lived?!!
And? See
Stay mad. : )
Look anon, I get that we can find one or two people to fit into a situation to justify a story like this. However, after a decade of White people being told that any time they try to tell a story from or even interact with another culture they are appropriating it is weird to suddenly see Black people get inserted into everything. And then people like you who will search every bit of history to find the smallest reason on why we should just accept it.
>like you who will search every bit of history
I ain't search shit, homie. I didn't even post a single example from history or otherwise. I'm just not bothered by a blackanese character. And you are.
I'm merely pointing out that a story about a Black in grolious nihon might be more interesting than magical girl #82537292537 and boy wants to be the very best (like no one ever was) #9163637282745371836.
You're the sort of person who was happy with that shit movie then TV show "The Time Traveler's Wife." I'd rather see The motherfricking Time Traveler rather than sappy b***h movie #92636383946.
Hope that clears that up, miss.
Don't put off that mammogram!
>I'm merely pointing out that a story about a Black in another land #81728937394 might be more interesting than magical girl #82537292537
Yasuke "anime" was hit too.
What are the other 81728937393 stories? : )
I can't even think of five.
>I can't even think of five.
That's not helping in the way you think it is :^)
Wow you got real mad there buddy. Sad news for you but they are going to be all the same stories still but with a black guy. They are all creatively bankrupt.
I was just letting you, or anyone else in the thread, know why you are seeing the kick back online. If the show looks as nice as the concept art I would give it three episodes at least.
That's nice, ma'am.
Stay mad that Toshiro, no doubt named after Mifune, is blackanese. : )
Oh no, another poor urban youth that cannot read. Such a sad state the American education system is in.
Whatever you say, m'ladies. Keep doing what I told you to do: staying mad that there's a Black in Scooby Doo. : )
>J-Just be mad!
You really got no real bite huh :^)
Wompwomp.
But Blacks are written in just 1 way in western media so I am tried of seeing 66634234434 stories about them.
TND
You're severely mentally ill if you think the blerd tech character is getting substantial screentime in a Scooby Doo spinoff.
>Mamiko Miyamoto doesn't exit and never has
I only recognize Musashi and Shigeru
>just happened to get a black guy as a mc
Have your ever met a Mongolian, Italian, Lebanese snow amputee Quaker israelite from Singapore? I have. it's me. And I'm the MC of my story.
Unlikely doesn't mean impossible.
>snow
lol
Ignore that. No idea how that got there lmao
>Ussop
So like, the thing about Oda's nationally thing he did is that it doesn't really apply to One Piece the manga/anime.
Roronoa Zoro isn't a Japanese name, Sanj isn't French name, Nami isn't Swedish, etc.
None of them really abide by their imagined nationally.
It works fine for making acceptable Netflix casting,
but I'd never put much stake in their nationalizes because they don't exist in One Piece proper.
...Cept Franky. Franky is USA as frick.
I looked at the picture before reading and I thought feed was the black guy, Daphnie was the girl and Velma was the other dog.
>Velma was the other dog.
She is but that's her own show.
I want the black dude to be Shaggy's otaku friend that convinced him and Scooby to go to Japan with him so he can get anime stuff. The girl is a westaboo and really likes American culture and always harshes his buzz when he gets excited about Japan stuff.
That would be neat.
A show set in Japan and they still managed to insert the stock unthreatening black nerd archetype
>Scooby-Doo in Japan
>there is a black guy
Let me guess, one of those tanned Japanese people that Western Leftist swear count as black, rather than asian? (Example: Nagatoro, Miruko)
>Have an out with having the nerd some how having a tan.
>give him 'fro hair.
>Cute pink haired girl
Already better than Velma, I don't care if they make her bi or lesbian or wathever as long as she's cute
>pink hair.
>blue and yellow cubes.
hol up.
Hope we get porn of the pink one
Another experimental Shaggy and Scooby solo series? I'll take it. Resulted in garbage every time they've tried but I'll never turn down the opportunity to try something new. My only concern is that these other two characters will inevitably be memory holed the minute the series ends like every other side character who isn't one of the Hex Girls.
>My only concern is that these other two characters will inevitably be memory holed the minute the series ends like every other side character who isn't one of the Hex Girls.
Vincent Van Ghoul if nothing else has had multiple appearances since. Film Flam gets referenced from time to time and was in a movie grown up. Even Red Herring was in a movie as a cameo. The only characters they really memory hole are either gimmick characters with like two appearances like Scooby Dum, movie-only characters, or the entire cast of Get a Clue. I actually feel like Scooby-Doo is a lot better than a lot of franchises about at least giving lip service or cameos to old characters.
>Scooby Doo for weebs
Meh, at least it already looks better than Be Cool
Be cool was funny bro
It was and well written. Too bad about the family guy art style instantly turning off everyone.
It wasn't even close.
>black fred
>in fricking japan
yeah just frick off already
Been to Japan. Ran into some black dudes while in Tokyo. Pretty chill guys and ended the day getting numbers of some chicks.
NO! THELE ALE NO BRACKS IN GROLIOUS NIPPON! IJU IMPOSSIBRU!
>obligatory nigglet haafu
Lmao Western cartoons are so pozzed. I wonder if they're getting a Japanese studio to work on it, it kinda looks like it, do we have another Rick and Morty anime situation on our hands?
Fred, Velma, and Daphne are looking a little different but I can't figure out what.
why do they keep making abomination after abomination? faux anime again? western companies and studios need to keep it real to their strengths and not adopt anything that is trendy from the east. do they not have any pride to their own identity?
>From now on Velma now has to be black and lesbian? Fine, no Velma!
I could dig it. I like unambiguously supernatural Scooby Doo stuff but:
>Random black nerd stereotype nog
>Pink haired anime chick
>None of the rest of the core cast
>Clean shaven (?) Shaggy
>The yokai are just generic monsters with Japanese stereotypes slapped on top
>THAT SAME FRICKING FAUX_ANIME STYLE ALL OF THESE GODDAMN THINGS HAVE JESUS FRICKING CHRIST
The extra dog could be cute and I like the little farm truck Mystery Machine but overall this looks annoying. Not Velma annoying but annoying and probably about as culturally respectful as that one direct to DVD movie with ninjas and a cursed katana.
>>THAT SAME FRICKING FAUX_ANIME STYLE ALL OF THESE GODDAMN THINGS HAVE JESUS FRICKING CHRIST
What company is doing the animation for this? i get that actual japanese companies are fricking expensive and only Studio Trigger gets taken in consideration cause westaboos but cmon.
>fricking expensive
160 yen a dollar is one hell of a exploit.
>anime scooby doo
what's the probability that ultra instinct shaggy will be referenced
My only complaint at the moment is Shaggy’s design. Not a fan of it.
>japan
>nog in car
Now I know Japan uses that skin tone to denote island-folk, bumpkins and other people with perpetual tans but somehow I don't think that's what he is.
Might check it out for the pink haired girl. She’s cute.
>scooby doo "anime"
>blatant americanisms and burger sensibilities already on display frame one
I'm sure this won't be an uninteresting mess.
I guarantee you the team is made out of californians who only see japan as a giant circus where the local will dance silly and sing like monkeys for a dollar.
Read
Also most Californians only see Japan as Pearl Harbor, Rape of Nanjing and Unit 731.
South Korea is what most Californians see as a giant circus where the local will dance silly and sing like monkeys for a dollar, not Japan.
looks like a terribly lazy cashgrab with lots of <currentyear> stuff.
I need to see animation before I pass judgment. I am skeptical but not enough to be turned of.
“Americans” trying to write anime when they have no idea what makes anime so good is always hilarious
WHY THERE IS A Black?
Movie is ruined
ihn
US soldier station in Yokohama, they existed since the occupation.
So?
If this is going to be a subtle remake of 13 Ghosts, guesses on who's going to fill in the Vincent Price role?
I would lose my shit if its George Takei
>Japan
>Anime
>Black Fred
>WHAT IF THING
>BUT JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN?!!?!?!
I am so fricking tired of Japan worship.
Dude, normies are not like this.
You have no idea how Japan works.
Not true, key animation is still mostly kept in Japan and if the budget is large enough everything is kept in Japan.
>no fred, daphne, or velma
Ehh. I mean they've done this kind of thing before and it worked out alright so I willing to give it a shot. The premise seems kind of neat. Shaggy and Scooby are the most important characters anyway.
How popular is Scooby Doo over at Japan?
Doo Slayer
They are gonna make Domain Expansion Shaggy a thing.
>Castlevania: TAS and Tomb Raider: TAS?
>You forgot Voltron and She-Ra
The latter
That too.
We don't know if this Scooby-Doo project is a legit anime like Powerpuff Girls Z or a fake anime like Avatar: TLA.
>One of the main characters is a Black person with a non-threatening black nerd archetype and a variation of the only haircut you see animated black guys with these days
Definitely a fake anime. That is the most American media shit imaginable.
They're afraid of hood homies or just assertive Blacks in general? They're the type to cross the street whenever a black comes their way?
Says nothing, anime does have black people in it (rarely mind you).
I have seen a lot of anime and I have legitimately never seen an American cartoon style black nerd. Usually black dudes in anime are huge and simple minded or stoic warrior types.
Brock will like to have a word with you.
>These rice balls are great, nothing beats a good old fashioned rice ball.
Tan people aren't black.
Brock represents American soldiers stationed in Yokohama who a number of them are black, Block is black.
Brock is from whatever the Okinawan region is called
No, he's black, Junichi Masuda already said so himself.
Fiction doesn't have to make sense, both Laura Haruna and Kana Iwata are both from European/Russian decent despite having Japanese sounding last names because it's cool.
Connie from Steven Universe did the same thing, black as coal but has a Indian sounding last name as if she was Indian she will sound like Manjula.
You haven’t seen many Indians, haven you? They can get extremely dark. And not having an Indian accent is perfectly normal if you weren’t born in India. My friend in high school had a Danish dad and a Hispanic mom, and he sounded southern as frick because that’s where he was raised.
You're thinking of Native Americans, this is how Indians sound like.
>Connie from Steven Universe did the same thing, black as coal but has a Indian sounding last name as if she was Indian she will sound like Manjula.
lol
I figured Connie was Dougla. The missus is Dougla IE Caribbean person with mixed Black and Indian background. She's got black girl hair but an Indian af name.
Not the case, it's just the name because it's a cartoon.
Eh, i still think Connie is Trinidadian or something.
Brock's name is Takeshi in Japan. He's a Jap.
Where the frick did you even come up with that?
The US has 2 major military bases in Japan since the occupation, one in Yokohama and another in Okinawa, they exist in case North Korea and/or China attacks Japan.
Brock's a tanned Jap.
Voltron and She-Ra are nothing like anime though. Or do you mean the original ones? Even then they aren't anime.
>Or do you mean the original ones? Even then they aren't anime.
>Voltron
>Not anime
Are you an actual moron?
>RIKE, ZOINKESU SCOOBY-SAMA
>none of the OG cast besides Scooby & Shaggy
DOA, should've just made an ironically edgy anime adaptation of Mystery Inc. instead.
Normies want comedy anime and if they want anime to be mainstream they have to make comedy anime.
I thought international normies loved shonen shit, not comedy anime?
No, comedy anime, they want shows like Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs, shows full with falling anvils/safes/pianos, wild takes and dynamite.
>New anime-inspired Scooby series
Kill me
>Anime
>Black
Is Sweet Baby Inc responsible?
No, we don't know who is animating it.
Blame the occupation, Yokohama has alot of black US soldiers in there.
Screw this. The puppy one sounded more interesting.
>go to Japan
>there's STILL somehow a black person in the cast
Don't you know? Brothas are into that anime sheeyit so naturally they'll go to the land of the 2D honeys to bang your waifu.
American military folks tend to keep to themselves, they DON'T mingle with the locals.
>elite military black dudes are infiltrating Glorious Nippon in order to bang hot anime chicks
This is bullshit but somebody should tell /misc/ anyway.
America has had it's military presents in Japan since 1945 and as much as Japan wants to get rid of Article 9 they still need those American bases incase North Korea, Russia and/or China attacks Japan.
The US military has people of all colors stationed in Japan.
Yeah, but I don't think that's what
is talking about at all. The military thing was
and similar. I suspect someone responded to the wrong post and an anon ran with it.
Thread is now over 500 posts; Part 2 is here.
That's not a dedicated Scooby thread.
It is now.
