        Why do they do that?

because dubbing is considered childish and everything besides cartoons gets either subtitles or voiceover

It stems from commie times when they authorities needed to make sure there wasn't any subversive context or needed to explain context to the viewer so you have one dude basically commenting over the entire film. Also it's cheap.

There is no original dialogue. Spaghetti westerns we’re shot silent so they could be dubbed in multiple languages. On the set of this movie there was actors speaking Spanish, German, Italian, French, whatever the frick

Thanks anon I knew the audio felt fricked compared to the actors but I didn't know why, first time I watched it I spent like 30 minutes trying to mess with the audio delay.

well given how even Germans tend to frick up when it comes to 4 different bins and what goes where it doesn't seem unreasonable they would explain it to foreigners.

This is what Tacitus said about their ancestors:
      https://facultystaff.richmond.edu/~wstevens/history331texts/barbarians.html

      >When not engaged in warfare they spend a certain amount of time in hunting, but much more in idleness, thinking of nothing else but sleeping and eating. For the boldest and most warlike men have no regular employment, the care of house, home, and fields being left to the women, old men, and weaklings of the family. In thus dawdling away their time they show a strange inconsistency - at one and the same time loving indolence and hating peace.

Only Americans shit on Americans for not liking subtitles.
They seem to believe it's sophisticated or some shit because "foreign" movies are usually arthouse and subtitled.

Nobody in Europe likes subtitles or gives a shit about where a movie is from, everything gets dubbed since forever.

France is the worst in dubbing, but they created their own markets by dubbing everything and their taste is different to the rest of europe. Scandis have their own shows but watch movies in english, also the dutch and belgium dont dub. Germany does but its becoming rarer, which should be so because germans are perfectly fine in speaking english.

          Anonymous

          >rarer
It's 'more rare' and it's false. The german dubbing industry is bigger than ever and won't be dismantled anytime soon. Believing that germany is an english speaking country above toddler level is ridiculous. Most students nowadays are not proficient in german anymore and you really consider them english speaking? jesus, delusional.

Because English dubbing is usually terrible. I want to hear actual dialogue, not someone that was sitting in a booth reading lines. I can't speak for European but the American VAs doing dub work fricking suck. Anime and videogames do a much better job than our film industry when it comes to dubbing and most of those suck too.

The difference is that most Italians and Spanish don't speak English. Germany really has no excuse, as most of them do.
