Can't do it sally.
I BLEW MY BUTT OFF
>uh, I’m like, not gonna do that
I don't know, what was the right thing to do sarge?
>no can do boss, it's the sabbath
>>no can do boss, it's the sabbath
they changed the captain to a Greek from being a israelite (Stein) and the story did lose something. The men didn't like him and saw him as a typical weak nerd who fenangled his way into command and he was being a smart ass israelite lawyer trying to get out of following the order. A bit like Sobel in Band of Brothers but set in a shitty company with draftees like the paratroopers all feared being sent to.
>THE ADMIRAL GOT UP AT DAWN FOR THIS. GODDAMMIT IT, STAROS.
>It's my turn to throw bodies into a meat grinder!
>I waited 20 years for this chance!
>just go die!
>shellshock? you just need a good slapping you yellow bastard
how could any American take their war leaders seriously holy shit
The Lt colonel was right, Staros should have followed orders and pressed the attack regardless. It was coincidence that the Japanese withdrew when they did. Losing momentum in an attack can frick everything up, how would you like it if you lost half of your company taking a position and then had to pull back because some other jackoffs took their time and did not advance? How would you feel attacking a position the enemy had an extra day to consolidate because the unit you relieved on the line freaked out after losing a couple of squads and just sat there? Happened a few times during the Pacific campaign. Time equals lives.
He knew the bigger picture, those islands were holdouts of nip c**ts that would never surrender, the yanks were dying to kill nips that would be dead in a month from starvation.
What motivation would you have to charge up a hill, taking massive casualties, for such an objective? The jap fricks didn't even have any boats to move the troops off the island.
are fricking stupid? Read up on the Guadalcanal campaign before posting such idiocy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Savo_Island
Imperial Japanese Navy counterattack nearly wiped out the allied boats. If the nip admiral had pushed the attack the entire burger landing force would have been raped to pieces.
Iwo Jima and the Philipines were pointless meat grinders of no strategic value but Guadalcanal was not.
>finally, I am become the thin red line
>"YES SIR"
>don't do it
whats he gonna do? call me again?
I die bravely for Israel
That is one of the best ass reamings in cinema history.
Am I going to go to Ukraine? Am I going to fight for America? No.
Am I going to die in nuclear hellfire anyway if things keep going the way they are going? Yeah probably.
If that is somehow avoided am I still probably going to end up fighting and dying in the same manner as those guys on hamburger hill or whatever but just this time under the banner of Starbucks or McDonalds or whatever? Yeah, sure, could easily see that happening.
Turn on COD World at War mode and use endless grenades from all directions
