it's arguably more about Chris Hemsworth's character since he gets a full arc
Furiosa spends half the film functionally male anyways disguising herself as a boy to avoid Imortan Joe's breeding program.

Alien had a female protagonist. This movie is going to flop because it's mediocre, and I say this has someone who who really hoped otherwise. At this point I'm only expecting Kingdome come deliverance 2 to be shit

Reminder that when you use the word "different" in this context, you're referring to the stunningly original concept of replacing the main character of the franchise with an independent girlboss making her way in a man's world. This character was also one of the least liked characters of the last film and drew criticism for taking the focus away from the main character.

Elemental is actually good and turned a modest profit. The heterosexual romance between water boy and fire girl sold the movie. It wasn't really that woke, I was surprised how decent it is despite the unimaginative premise.

use your brain for once. youre just as dumb

It's like you dumb fricks never watched a movie before. Fury road is literally about Furiosa. She is the storyline. She's the entire reason for the Journey. Creator and director decides he wants to do a prequel. Its not gonna be about mad max. Because he's fricking irrelevant to the story.

Miller has already told the story of Mad Max. Now it's Furiosas turn. Which is what he set out of to do in Fury Road.

        Anonymous

it may be furiosa's turn, but nobody fricking gives two shits about that character. she already has more lore than mad max. frick the frick off with all this bullshit

          Anonymous

Then don't watch it. I am personally not that vested in either mad max or furiosa. I just wanna see a good action film. That's exactly what Fury Road and Furiosa are. Besides Mad Max background story has been told already in the 1979 film.

        Anonymous

Ok, but furiosa didn't need a story or a journey and very predictably nobody in the audience actually wants to see it told.
If Miller couldn't can't come up with a better idea that Furiosa Begins for a Mad Max sequel, then he probably should have let the series go and have fury road as his legacy.

          Anonymous

Why do you guys keep parroting this? My biggest question in fury road was how Furiosa got the skills and abilities she does. She comes in like hot shit and wrecks shit like she owns the place. Seeing the actual reason and progression that gives her those skills and the trauma and pure anger that is driven into her at every turn makes it make sense.

            Anonymous

            >My biggest question in fury road was how Furiosa got the skills and abilities she does.
Ok cool, but nobody else was asking that question or really wanted to know the answer, let alone see the blow by blow. Hence, the movie is one of the biggest and most predictable flops of the year.
Keep in mind that your personal opinion on whether the story is necessity or potentially interesting is totally irrelevant, since the rest of the audience wants nothing to do with it and the majority opinion is whats valid and important, not yours.

Story wise i absolutely agree with you. But i quite like action movies and it so happens that both of these movies are good action flics. So I don't care if he makes a dozen of these as long as the action and costume design are top notch.

            >the action and costume design are top notch.
Except that the action and costume design in the promo material looks like shit compared to fury road. Nobody is flocking to the movies for a film that looks like a hard downgrade both thematically and visually, hence why the film is a failure.

              Anonymous

As someone who's seen both. Fury road and Furiosa are equal in terms of costume design. Whilst furiosa doesn't match the epicness of the first hour of fury road, there's still one really good action scene in it that certainly matches what Fury road has to offer.

I agree the trailer didn't look good. Certainly not because it looks like Hemsworth is doing his Marvel Spiel again. That's not the case. He's actually really fricking good in this one. Which surprised me because i am not big on Hemsworth.

there was nothing wrong with making a movie about Furiosa, it just didn't go anywhere. half the movie is her as a child getting dragged around by Hemsworth, the second half is just her trying to kill him as an adult. she never even attempts to go back home and none of the characters in the entire film have any sort of development aside from Furiosa literally aging. the action scenes were kinda cool but overall the movie was just kind of nothing. What If I loved the movie and am comfortable, actually relieved, that it flopped and can't be hollowed out by franchise-obsessed executive wienerroaches?

2 movies, 1 show, multiple short films, multiple books, multiple videos games. You’re dumb if you don’t think it’s a franchise.

Another example of critical success and even influence across multiple types of media(BR in this case not 2049) not equalling success with the "average" movie goer.

Just saw it. Time for my official commentary, First addressing the common criticisms.
They said it had bad cgi? looked fine to me, I don't see the criticism at all, it was fine.
They said it was too long and not paced well, again I don't see an issue, I was never bored.
Woke girlboss, no again, that was a lie.
Final verdict? I liked it better than Fury Road. Hemsworth was amazing, had no idea he could act that well. Overall 8/10.
Make up your own mind, not based on the contrarian misery homosexuals of this board.

I liked Furiosa and I want to see what George Miller has up his sleeve for Mad Max: The Wasteland (starring Mad Max this time) too. I don't give a frick about whoever's gender I just want enjoyable movies in a universe I like while its creator is still kicking and passionate about it. I'll also add that Furiosa has experiences and motivations that shape her into the person she is in a sensible manner but of course Cinemaphile is malding.

Ocean's 8 was legit one of the worst movies I ever saw.
Their master plan boiled down to putting laxatives in the marks's food and pickpocketing her on the toiled, while one of them shrieked at mark's bodyguards that they cannot enter female toilet.
