It's been really nice having all my content at my fingertips as well as sharing it with friends/family. The best perk so far has been the PLEXAMP app, which lets me stream my music collection remotely. It does a great job of picking similar music once a playlist ends and overall just works. Highly recommend.

do you have a gpu for transcoding? I share my plex with family and friends and they all use shit smart tvs so I really need it

I do not have a GPU in there, just the i7 7700k. If you do decide to go with a GPU make sure you research which is compatible with transcoding, I don't rememeber the details.

I have had 4-6 People transcoding on my end at once (1080p) without any problem.

I have the same processor. I only have 16GB of RAM, though. Running a GTX1080Ti graphics "card." This thing is several years old, but still meets all of my needs. Not really relevant, but just felt compelled to share. Is this mind control?

maybe, I have a 1070 laying around in case I ever need more transcoding. Really though, my limitation will be my upload speed, not raw power.

                >16gb ram
Should be fine, I have 32 but my utilization is non existent even while streaming, I think I've hit 10%

when it was on Netflix, they had the edited versions. missing dialogue, etc. were in place probably for time constraints when originally aired. Amazon Prime also does this with their television shows including Frasier.

It's 10PM now and I'm still waiting for her to make a fricking decision on whether we're meeting tomorrow or not, which means I couldn't plan anything for tomorrow even though it's my precious Saturday since I'm a late-working wagie. but you sound like you've at least met a woman once.

And she learns that you will bend the knee, and she'll have a guaranteed social appearance in your plans. Sorry but the simp energy is still there.

A woman has to learn that her actions can lead to her missing out. Not this plan B crap youre attempting to look alpha by pulling. But you dont

            Anonymous

And let me explain further since I just finished shaving and figured you'd just generalize me at a fa/tv/irgin.

Your plan actively tells her: "I'm the back-up plan and i'm fine with it." She has the upper-hand. Ever watched Seinfeld? She has hand. You have no hand.

If this is how you want the relationship to go, then by all means. Offer yourself as her saturday backup. But it won't change the week after, or the one after that. Women play games, even if you think this one doesn't.

      You’re her plan C.

      >you are smitten by her
      >she is not making concrete plans with you up front
      >she is not committing to suggested plans
      >you are waiting around
Rookie mistake. You have to set the date and time and ask for a yes or no, if she can't give you one you have to make other plans. The idea is that you have to show her that your time is valuable and that you do in fact value it. Without this she will assume 1.) youre a simp 2.) you are a bum, or 3.) you don't value yourself, all of which would cause her to not want to persue you.

If I ask a girl who likes me if she wants to hang out, she'll say yes. Its that simple. Sounds like you should move on. In fact, if you want to salvage this prospect hurry up and find someone else to start dating, then tell bubbly girl all about it every chance you get. This will cause her to seethe and she thinks about whether she misjudged your worth, as well as rub in good times that she isn't having with you. Just a thought.

it makes me want to have an english girlfriend, despite the cooking. Also, I find it funny that english people get so bent out of shape about her accent just because its about 200 miles displaced from where it should be, I can drive 200 miles and not even leave my state.

        >despite the cooking
It looks a lot worse than it tastes. Just be prepared to eat a lot of it. If you visit her grandparents for dinner, skip lunch entirely and cut an extra notch in your belt.
        >200 miles displaced from where it should be
That's about 20% of the length of the entire island, which has a population of around 67 million. It's like casting a California valley girl to play a Salt Lake Mormon.

  8. 1 year ago

Hi Dr. Frasier. I'm a longtime listener, first time caller. I got a promotion at work. It's a good move and I'm going to a different department. I'm a team lead at my current department and as soon as it was announced that I would be leaving I've had people come up to me constantly saying how things are going to fall apart when I leave. I knew this was going to happen as I'm the only lead that actually gives a shit and works hard. I've been the one thing keeping things running more or less smoothly and that without me they couldn't meet goals if their lives depended on it. Thing is...I don't care. I'm trying to find a reason to, honestly I am, but I just don't give a shit about them. I spent 3 years in this department and during that time I was never recognized for the work I did. Hell my VP never spoke more than 5 words to me at any given time. I know they were planning on me taking over a managerial position, but I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The department I work in is basically the red-headed step child of the company except EVERYONE relies on them to do their job. Am I a bad person for not caring about them? Should I have spoken up more about how other groups don't give a shit about my department and merely take it for granted? Take ME for granted?

      Anonymous

      >am I a bad person for not caring about them?
No, of course not. Do you think they care about you, or do they just want to use you as the convenient guy who does all the work?

        Anonymous

The people on the floor that actually do the job care. They're freaking out because the other lead is a lazy ass that actually sleeps on the job and anyone they replace me with is going to only be half as capable as me. I do help them a lot and they do work hard for me as well. It's management (both ours and the executive leadership) that doesn't care. Our manager is just kinda there. She hasn't been effective in a while and anyone above her has their head stuck firmly up some executive's ass.

After seeing American Pie I tried sticking my dick into some food. Not to cum or anything I can jerk off for that it just seemed funny if my brother ate the food after I rubbed my junk on it.
I found a bagel and went to town on her. Felt terrible but I knew it would be worth it in the end. Brother toasts up the bagel and puts butter on it and eats it, I'm laughing to myself the whole time. Very sensible chuckles.

I had to go to the doctor a week later. My dick got infected by the poppy seeds, some got in my pee hole. It was an everything bagel.

crying is a legitimate expression of grief, it gives closure or also reveals a deeper set problem that is manifesting itself through physical action. The problem could be anything, frustration with work, love life, disappointment in where you are in life. Ask yourself where you think the problem is coming from and ways to stop it or get better, than the crying will stop

Anon, it's easy to fall into nihilism when everywhere you look there is misery and hopelessness. Heck, just driving can be enough to make your forsake humanity. But you mustn't succumb to the temptation of cynicism. People are still good and want to be good to you. You just need to find them. Try to find the bright spots and spend less time dwelling on the darkness. If what you're doing now isn't working, try something else. If that doesn't work then try again! It highly overrates a bunch of very average episodes (Miracle on 3rd or 4th Street, Duke's We Hardly Knew Ye, A Crane's Critique, Chess Pains, Roz and the Schnoz, Three Faces of Frasier) and underrates a ton of classic episodes. But calling High Holidays bad is where I draw the line. Frick whoever made this, they don't know shit

What causes the Season 8–10 quality decline?

          Anonymous

They started ripping off the Seinfeld formula of having all the main characters doing their own thing packed together into one episode. In the earlier seasons all the characters are contributing to the same single plot line. In the later seasons, even in the occasional episodes where there's at least one good plot line, there's always 1-2 pointless subplots involving the other characters that are just distracting and unfunny

To be honest, the Daphne-Niles kiss (season 7 finale) was the shark jump moment.
Niles's thirst for Daphne was a huge point of comedy for the show. Niles was funny and sympathetic not only because he was autistic and neurotic, but because he was in a hard situation between two women. And yeah, it was kinda cool that they got together, but that should have been saved for the very end. Instead, we have to see the relationship and there is no way it would have ever been funny. It dipped into Friends territory with their intimate relationship being the main focus for the rest of the show.

What about S10E23 and S10E24? What makes them so bad?

Friends is for people that want to detach from reality and Frasier is for people that have learned or are learning to cope with it. I would argue the latter are more mature but that's a bit pretentious. Either way, I stand by my initial statement.

I could stand to live there.

The thing that really impresses me about Elliot Bay, beyond the aesthetics, the space, the clientele and the lighting is simply the number of toilets. There is literally no situation you could be in where you need more than 1 minute to get to a toilet. Absolutely perfect for an old person like Crane Sr. Not surprised in the slightest that Cam brought his mother there too.

It's not really a laugh out loud show like Seinfeld, more of an occasional chuckle at witty humor type of show. You also develop more fondness for the characters over time, whereas Seinfeld you aren't really supposed to like anyone and the entire appeal of watching is to see how their selfishness and stupidity will blow up in their faces

It gets better S3 and onward. Don't bother with first 2 seasons til you're a fan imo. Frasier becomes like larry from curb in a good way while still being way more cultured

In Seasons 4-6 Bulldog was included on all the promotional materials with the main cast. Then in Season 7 he's abruptly fired from KACL and subsequently is relegated to the occasional guest appearance. My guess they were gonna do a Bulldog + Roz long-term romance storyline but decided to scrap it and had nothing else for the character to do

    >show falls off a cliff the second Niles and Daphne get together
They really should've saved it for the finale or just gone a different direction entirely. The Niles and Daphne romance was what kept pushing the show's overarching storyline along and it's clear they had no idea what to do once it was essentially concluded

Also the whole Season 7 storyline with them getting together was unnecessarily messy and unpleasant. It was hard to even enjoy their big moment of finally coming together because of the implications for Donnie and Mel. Neither of them deserved that
